  1. I'm gonna try to fish the drop shot more.
  2. Ditch that rod ASAP. No way I'd keep that sucker if it fell apart before you even ran line through it.
  3. I LOVE RAGE baits. I used to swear by Grandebass products, but I've converted. This is gonna be the year I finally catch a fish on a Smokin Rooster. That bait looks flat out gorgeous in the water, but the bass here must be just staring at it too. Love the Anacondas, Rage Grubs, the Rage Shad are PHENOMENAL....just great baits. I still haven't picked up the Rage craws yet, but they are on my list for sure.
  4. For colder water, I would slow roll it, but the fish will let you know how they want it.
  5. Big Tex looks like a great color too!
  6. I have YZ Hybrid in 10# that I treated with some KVD LnL, and it's pretty much replaced Trilene XL for me. It's very manageable, and STRONG. I think the 10# breaks at around 14# IIRC. I hated straight fluoro, and wanted something with the softness of XL but without it becoming a sponge and soaking up water. YZ is it. Great, great line.
  7. Get some Senkos or YUM Dingers, some Zoom U tail worms, and some Strike King Red Eye Shad. You can't NOT catch a fish with those baits.
  8. I've never thrown one, so I'm interested in how to fish it as well.
  9. I use Yo Zuri Hybrid 10#. I really like chartreuse and white spinner baits, and I occasionally use firetiger colors, but my water is pretty stained. I'd say in clearer water use something that matches the forage. All of mine usually consist of willow/colorado, double willow, or double colorado for night time.
  10. I make silver, and some of the fumes, chemicals, and especially the dust present in my work environment will surely cause me more problems before lead will. It's just funny that all our lives we are taught that lead is bad, yet our favorite hobby/sport uses a ton of it.
  11. I got one that I rigged up with some Berkley Realistix 3" Shad. Keeps the rig light weight, much more so than rigging it up with 1/8oz jig heads and the LFT Magic shad I had on. This will be my go to for the summer.
  12. In my experience, they flat out nail it. I had an almost 5lb smallie annihilate my spinner bait last November. There's no mistaking having a fish on.
  13. I never gave it a ton of thought until recently, but almost all of our gear contains or is made of lead. I always wonder what effects, if any, will pop up over the course of our fishing lives with being exposed to lead every time we go fishing. Maybe I'm over thinking it a bit, but you never know. Anyone else worry about this?
  14. Am I the only one that doesn't have trouble with stock Strike King hooks?????
  15. I use Lake Fork Tackle live magic shad, Berkley realistix, Havoc Sick fish, Yum money minnows, and Zoom super fluke jrs. The ones with the boot tail, not the other kind.
  16. I have a bunch of both. I don't think you could use just one type and be as effective as you could be with both types.
  17. I don't think pond fishing is cheating, but catching a big one out of a pond vs.catching a big one out of a 30k+acre lake are 2 totally different things. I'd love to be able to have access to a stocked pond so I could test out different rigs/lures though.
  18. I have my Revo S on a Veritas, it looks cool but it's also a great combo, I have my new SX on a Vendetta 2, and soon my STX will be on a Villain micro rod. I've always liked abu rods, so it's a plus that some of their rods now match up to certain reels.
  19. I was just looking through my plastics, and found some Berkley Realistix in the 3" size. These already come lightly weighted and rigged with hooks, so I took of the 1/8oz jig heads and magic shad. The rig is noticeably lighter, and should really work well on MH gear. Can't wait to try this out.
  20. This. Mercer is......ugh. Zona I can handle MOST of the time, but other times he's pretty obnoxious. I really like the more laid back fishing shows, as fishing for me is about relaxing and having fun. Not screaming and acting like a toddler who drank a case of red bulls.
  21. I believe Abu recommends light oil on the pads and the ENDS of the spool shafts. All of my Abus have come with oil on the tension pads, and it turn have had oil on the spool shafts. We need DVT in here to clarify.
  22. I don't even have the Gen 2 SX anymore. I could get my black max 2 tuned perfectly, but never could my SX. I have a Gen 3 SX on the way so hopefully this one doesn't give me fits.
  23. I've always heard the pad and ends of the spool shaft should have a dot of oil.
  24. Greg hackney made the comment that if ike was his kid and screamed like that he would spank him lol. Hackney is hilarious.
