they are just guidelines to me and that is part of the reason i like to stay with one company as it is at least somewhat consistent throughout the line. it is almost a feel thing for me. I have some MH rods that feel more like a medium to me and i have other MH that feel like H so who really knows. I guess it boils down to feel and what rod will do the job you are asking for it to do the best. So to answer your question, I have no reference lol

I concur with A Jay on this one. If you are going the dry suit route you don't want to skimp as it is an investment that will last you for pretty much as long as you take care of it. I equate it to buying a helmet for my road bike. it could be the difference between a major injury or just an inconvenience....

pretty common way to rig plastics and i think there is name for it but i am not sure. I have been doing it with craws for years when chasing smallies. It definitely provides a different presentation.

American Flag is already in place...as far as any type of inspection goes, it would fail miserably but comparatively speaking it is probably the cleanest room in the school. I personally kept the clorox wipe division in business the past two weeks....and yes the Eagles still suck but hopefully they can change that this season lol

Wow, that class looks great!! Looks like a ton of kids though, my class right now is at 27 but it always changes given the transient nature of the population of the school. If i had ceiling tiles, I would totally do what they did in there.

I thought i saw somewhere that it was going to be in the 1500 range for the motor assembly. I am sure it will do the same as any other pedal or motor driven kayak in shallow water or weeds though. it isn't like the technology is new. I do think, knowing what i know about the flex pod, that it would be a pain to lift the motor out unless they built in some type of mechanism to assist in tilting it up. I wouldn't even bother using it on a river unless i was using it just to motor upstream and then float back. I will say that even without the motor or pedal the ATAK is a great boat and worth every penny. Also, you can car top it and depending on the car you have, it wouldn't be that bad really. I drive a wrangler so i literally had to lift it completely above my head with straight arms to get it on there. I did it for a while too but when i saw a tailer for a good price i picked it up.

sounds like you are pretty limited so i would start fan casting all the areas you can fish.

The X series uses the same graphite but the build is obviously different. The split grip and micro guides will definitely impact the feel in your hand. I felt same type of reaction when i used an Avid and then a Rage, same graphite (rolled in a different location though). A rod and it's feel is a lot more than the blank though as i think you are experiencing.

the one advantage is that you can bank fish 24 hours there where boats have to be off at dark basically. It is in a WMA so i would think that pretty much wherever you can get to is pretty much fair game but that may be easier said than done.

he got off because he rules were vague, consequences were not explicit and the process to check things was not solid. I have no doubt he did it and did it knowingly but the NFl screwed the pooch on this one and lost in the long run. Th longer it drug out the better the chance of appeal and it being overturned. The NFL has already stated they are appealing the ruling so we will see what happens. At this point, even I don't care, just let people play, get Goodell out of the league and get someone in there with some integrity to deal with cheaters harshly, quickly and fairly like the should.

Me too. I know it is a tough school and i know there will be days that i need to hit the liquor store on the way home but being positive in the face of adversity has always been a strong suit of mine. I mean i am an eagles fan for pete's sake.......i have had a lot of practice lol

Not omitted, i need to get one fro the supply room as we do the pledge every morning. It was also interesting that in our very first staff meeting, they started off the day with prayer. People, think religion and patriotism is being taken out of schools but i can tell you that in the three different school systems i have been a part of over the last 2 years, none of them were removing anything like that. This school even says Christmas lol Makes me happy....

I have been updating everyone on here throughout my teaching journey from debating on going back to school, to deciding to get my masters, to student teaching all the way to getting my own class. I have a 4th grade class that starts on Monday in pretty much the toughest school in the surrounding area as the kids are all from urban housing developments. The teachers there are awesome but I wish i could say the same for the school. After a lot of cleaning, trashing stuff from years of people not throwing anything out and organizing things I am just about ready for the kids to come next Tuesday. Anyways, here are some pics of my classroom from start to finish.

A faster 6 wt might work but not sure it would be in your price range. I would go cast some rods at a shop. They may even have some older models laying around that they want to get rid of for a decent price.

Personally i would go with a 7wt, the difference between a 5 & 6 isn't that much but the difference between a 5 & 7 is much better. As far as rods go, I am a sage guy but I have cast quite a few different TFO models and they are good sticks. I want to say they are closer to the top end of your range though.

Wikipedia is not a good source for information. Sure it can be accurate but it doesn't have to be as it is created by anyone who wants to put a page up. There is a reason it is not permitted to be used as a source for any type of research paper or study. As far as what you are looking for goes, fisherman are a small group in the grand scheme of things and an even smaller group want the information you are wanting to know. If you want that kind of information start contacting companies or searching through their websites an see what yo can find and create a database. For me personally i have no desire to know that type of information and the time it would take to put that together would be pretty immense.

I have fished in a lot of kayaks over the years and I have to say the ATAK is the best one i have fished from so far. the only negative i have found, other than weight, is the seat fastening system, it sucks but if you leave the seat attached it isn't an issue.

I like throwing cranks too and when i bought a crank bait specific rod it made a world of difference. I have a kistler helium which is a composite rod i believe in a moderate action (i don't think they make it anymore). It definitely helps keep fish buttoned up at the boat but the biggest thing is having sharp hooks. you can't drive the hook home like you would on other baits so having those extra sticky sharp hooks helps out a lot. Oh and all the stuff Sam said is dead on.

I wouldn't get one if it didn't have compatibility for electronics. That flex pod was pretty high on my list of importance when I bought my ATAK. I am also not sure if i want to spring for that much cash for a motor but a pedal drive I might be interested...
