  1. Yeah that was definitely one of the cheaper shots i have seen in an NFL game.
  2. heard 6-8 today on NFL network
  3. I actually hope it is a close game because i don't want false confidence. Atlanta has a crappy defense though so it could be a shoot out, especially if the Eagles secondary doesn't show up to play.
  4. if you are casting out all the braid, adding more backer or braid isn't going to solve your problem. Sounds like you put too much backing on or didn't fill out the spool with braid enough. If it was me i would take off a good 20 yards of the backing and respool with braid. Now if your spool wasn't full then you could just leave the backing you had and put some new braid on there and fill it up more. No matter what the situation is, i wouldn't add more braid via a knot connection. Just chalk it up as a learning opportunity and go from there.
  5. So my 5 year old had his first football practice today and they were all sitting in a circle with the coaches. They were trying to come up with a team name and the head coach said how about the cowboys, I am a cowboys fan. My son yells over to me on the sidelines, Daddy did you hear that, he said Cowboys. Booooooo to the Cowboys.....I almost shed a tear.
  6. you are a beast....
  7. anyone else going to be bothered all season by this post having a typo in the title?
  8. i really cannot wait till we are able to move into a bigger house so i can get back tying flies and start building rods. It is something i have always wanted to do but i don't have the space right now to do it.
  9. i have never once considered color of my combo when making a purchasing decision. Now if i was building my own rods I may consider it as i want something that i think looks good but function is light years ahead of how it looks for me.
  10. that makes sense as we al want to try out our equipment and know it works. I am talking more about those who seem to do it every single time out just to get the pics. Maybe because i have never fished a weigh in type tournament since in a kayak it is a big time hassle my perspective is different.
  11. I have used wikipedia and if sources were cited, I would go straight to those but even then, i saw a lot of liberties in the interpretation of the information, enough so that i stopped even doing that.
  12. I have seen some threads of people catching fish and keeping them in their livewells just for a photo op later on with their stringer for the day. My question is why would you do that if you aren't in a tournament? I guess i don't see why it is that important and it can't be good for the fish to sit in a livable all day long. I know that tourneys do it and the fish mortality rate is pretty low but it still seems like it would put undue stress on the fish. If yo pare going to keep them then fine, i get that but just to be able to take a picture with a fish in each hand just doesn't make sense to me.
  13. What's the warranty on those boats because my first course of action would be see if it is a warranty item as most hull cracks would be as long as they aren't due to negligence on your part. If it isn't, there are plenty of youtube videos on preparing a crack using heat to basically melt it back together or fillet back up with plastic you may have from cutting holes to mount things on your boat.
  14. I am sure that much like yourself, you didn't choose the teams you follow they chose you And in my case, I had no choice. If I wanted a place to live and food to eat I pretty much had to be a Philly sports fan lol
  15. So i am about to finish my first week tomorrow and it has been more difficult than i anticipated and that is after thinking it would be pretty hard. First off I have a huge class of 29 (1 below the maximum), 2nd these kids pretty much were allowed to do whatever they wanted last year and 3rd they are just not used to structure and following routine. I have yet to teach an actual lesson, but that was the plan and expected given the nature of the population. It is almost expected that you work solely on structure, rules, procedures etc...the first few weeks while sprinkling in the academics while they work on how to be a student. Simple things like walking in the hallways is a complicated task for these kids. Yesterday we spent an hour walking in the hallways until everyone in the class got it right, stay on the third tile from the wall, face front, and be quiet. Towards the end of our hour long session, there were only about two kids who were having issues so rather than work with them individually i made the call to have everyone keep working to show that we are a team and only as good as the weakest person. They got it eventually though. I do have a a few kids with serious impulse control and will snap if something doesn't go their way. One in particular just gets up and leaves the class or does whatever he can to disturb everyone else as much as possible. He has already been to the office 3-4 times in his first three days.... All that being said, when we lined up for an assembly this morning the kids were perfect!! they lined up, were quiet and did exactly what they were supposed to with minimal direction from me. I was so proud of them and told them as much. It was short lived because after lunch it went back downhill and while that isn't acceptable, they know what to do so the potential is there. I am gonna keep trying and keep working hard to get them to want to learn...tried a few other things today that worked well and i will do them again but i won't bore you with the details Anyways, just thought i would share..
  16. After seeing this thread again I decided to pull one of my pork butts out of the freezer and will be smoking it this weekend...
  17. Peacocks, Musky or northerns, tarpon, bonefish, permit, giant trevally, some of the big sea run brookies...i think that about sums it up for now.
  18. dang you got 15lbs out of 16lbs of meat, that is crazy. My yield after cleaning and pulling is usually around 60-70%. I did some lesson planning and hung out at the house pretty much all day. I did fish sunday though and did ok on a lake i haven't fished in a long long time so that was cool.
  19. i fish them a lot and haven't had the bill cracking issue. I have heard of people sending them back and they replace them with no issues. I wouldn't even think you need receipts, I mean it is printed on the bill that they are rapalas and the depth they run.
  20. I have never even opened the door for the memory card so i haven't messed with it. I'll send it back here soon though since my fishing days will not be as often. I haven't updated it yet, but i might as well wait now till i send this unit back. thanks for the helpful info as always
  21. the dry suits are designed for immersion though and your motorcycle gear isn't. Judging by your profile location though, i doubt it gets cold enough to worry as much as those up north have to so you are probably fine.
  22. yeah in cold weather i always carry a dry set of clothes and a way to make a fire should the need arise. I also minimize chances for issues by choosing the safest areas to fish during that type of weather.
  23. I called and they said it is not terribly uncommon and can be caused by a variety of different reasons. They said i could send it in for the to take a look at but i never did due to a bunch of other stuff going on. I have used it a bunch of times since then and it hasn't happened again so who knows why it happened that one time. I hope not sending it in doesn't bite me in the butt later on
  24. A lot of kayak guys use dry suits for paddling not necessarily scuba. I am not sure if they would work for that or not but they are cut differently to allow more freedom of movement. I would guess they couldn't handle the same amount of pressure before leaking that a scuba version would.
  25. never tried it but i would think the salt in most plastics would speed up the corrosion process. I also wouldn't want a hook in a a bag in case i forget about it and go in to grab a plastic and find the one with a surprise inside....
