Kayak Fishing In The Wind
Wind and deep water positioning is probably the most problematic for anglers to deal with. You can either use the wind to your advantage or try and anchor to a spot. An anchor trolley helps a lot but learning where to position your boat in relation to the structure you want to fish can take some getting used to. Another option is fishing shallow enough for a stake out pole. they will help lock you into place as well. Another option is to use two anchors or a combination of stake out pole and anchor to truly lock in your position.

Teaching Update...
yesterday two kids were about to go at it. Instead of telling them to stop or whatever i moved all the desks around and said go for it, i am not going to stop you at all. All i am going to do is call the office o come get you both. I then said you have the choice to make, go to the office and get a call home or just go sit down and act like nothing happened....they sat right back down.. oh and i had a trash can thrown at me today....that was a first lol

I have caught catfish on pretty much every bait imaginable including poppers on my fly rod.

Different Brand Or Sticking With What You Know, Suggestions?
i have 4 different rod brands represented in my 7 combos and 2 different reels but only one is different than the others. When i find something i like, I prefer to keep using that until i find a reason to switch as far as reels go. For rods, i am much more inclined to try something new as the differences between various manufacturers can make them more suitable for different presentations even if they are the sam power and action as others. I have 2 MHF rods that are more in the M range so i use them with different techniques than I would my other MHF rods. One thing I do try and do is get a new to me brand used so the expense isn't as high should i not like the rod.

Winter Fishing, Store The Boat Or Brave The Cold
i fish from a kayak so i am not making some 50mph runs or anything but i have learnt to real enjoy the cold weather. While i rarely catch a lot of fish, the ones i do catch are pretty good. Two years ago my largest (length) fish of the year was caught on January 1st in mid 30 degree water. I am looking forward to getting out there this year with my new fish finder and really take the time to learn the lake without vegetation in the way.

Road To The Super Bowl!
Eagles played ok and still had some mistakes but the offense was doing well. the defense is beastly and Cox is one of the best lineman in the game without question. Big game next week against het giants that will be for the division lead unless Dallas can win today. The NFC really looks wide open with the exception of Green Bay who continues to chug along....

Small Boat Registration...what A Scam...
it isn't about the boat, it is about the motor. pretty much every state that i know of requires the same thing. Many of those requirements are designed to see if a boat is stolen. I now when i was looking for a jet ski trailer for my kayak i had a heck of time finding one that had a title. most just drove around without it and took the risk. Well, i waited and found one and it was way easier to deal with. Anyways, a bill of sale would be easy to make and of course you didn't pay taxes yet because it wasn't registered. And as far as building a boat goes, you have to apply for a number i believe and go through the same process once you put the motor on it. no motor, no problem.

Pro Qualifier Issue
wait till the spring sale and buy another one for about $40 or so or send it to DVT and have him take a look. other than that, i don't know. My few forays into reel maintenance didn't end well so i just send them to DVT.

Go To Brands For Plastics

Bobber Stops (Dumb Question)
not that i am aware of.. If those are the types you use, you can just use some heavier line and do the same thing. I used to use tag ends of line to do ti and never had a problem but i have recently switched over to the traditional rubber type bobber stops.

Swim Jig Trailer Rigging Question
I usually just use one of the screw locks and spin the trailer on there then hook it over the hook bend. Seems to work well for me.

Grew To Hate Monofilament, But Need To Spool Up A Dedicated Cranking Reel.
I use 8lb diameter braid on my kistler helium cranking rod and have no issues. I actually seem to lose less fish than when i used mono or flouro on it.

Road To The Super Bowl!
Too bad we didn't have an average kicker or we win that game
-
Road To The Super Bowl!
Eagles are bi-polar...one minute they look great and the next they suck. The kicker we signed is a real gem, our o line is atrocious and we lead the league in drops....and missing a 33 yarder and an extra point doesn't help either. Now i have to pull for the saints tonight and then hope we can beat them next week

What Is This Mystery Lever?

Favorite Star Wars Film?
i am not a fan of 1,2 & 3 but to be honest i haven't watched them as often as the others. I think a lot of it has to do with your age when you watched them. I like return of the jedi myself. I may have to watch them again though, it's been a while

No More Car Topping My Canoe
most of my fishing gear stays in the jeep in the trunk area so that doesn't get unloaded too often. and with the trailer it does make it easier to just hitch up and go
-
No More Car Topping My Canoe
yeah i thought about that too. I may just figure out how to lay them flat in my kayak when i am towing. I can just leave them in the jeep too because it doesn't take that long to take them out but it would be nice to have my crate and fish finder in there. my fish finder i can do, i just need to put a spacer under the bunks i have to make that work, just haven't had the time do it yet.

No More Car Topping My Canoe
i picked up a jet ski trailer and modified it for my kayak and it was the best thing i have done. It makes it so much easier to load and unload, especially after a long day. I was loading it on top of my wrangler for a while and it was doable but a pain. Now i just need to figure out a way to be able to load it all up with rods and everything so i can just load up and go and not even have to mess with anything once i get to the lake other than backing the trailer down and releasing the straps....backing up a short wheelbase trailer is definitely not the easiest thing but it is getting easier each time.

Silly Flashlight Question
headlamp with a red lens and you will be fine. Like A-Jay said, your eyes will adjust if you let them. At night i always try to rig up as many different rods as i can to minimize having to retie but i also fish from a kayak.

Physically Demanding Lures And/or Techniques
nothing in conventional fishing has worn me out so far but i do get a little fatigued when I am casting a 10wt fly rod all day long, and even more so if it isn't a balanced set up.
