  1. now that throws another wrinkle into the mix lol
  2. find another pond.
  3. to me if you aren't going to not use a 1 piece you might as well go with a true travel rod that you can take with you fi you fly somewhere. I have been using multi piece (4 or 5) fly rods for years and have no issues and fly rods are put through more stress with each cast than your average conventional rod.
  4. 3wt or smaller gets my vote. a 4wt won't be a ton of difference from your 5. I would also go short as you can, i have a 6' 6"myself, as it allows you to get to smaller areas more easily. you are mostly going to be roll casting anyways and if you slow down your stroke, yo can easily chuck a short rod like that as far as you need to. Sunnies are a blast on the 3 wt and it really teaches you how to play fish. I have caught more than my fair share of bass on this set up while chasing sunnies too.
  5. don't the ray marine units have some weird transducers though? i was looking at one model and the transducer looked like it might be an issue mounting in a yak...
  6. New is one thing, unopened is a completely different one. I have seen people go into a store and ask to see some reels and open 5-6 boxes, try them all and then pick one. Sure if i was paying full price for a reel I would be more concerned but if it was new but it was half price. Seems like people just want a reason to complain to me...people are complaining about a situation that does not even apply to the situation. And there were no missing parts, just a box. You can register your reel online anyways and again, i would be shocked if more than 10% of owners actually do that too.
  7. I wonder what would have happened if they called and said hey we don't have the box, is that still ok? My hunch is 95+% of people would say no big deal and take it anyways. This just seems like something to complain about. I know i have received items in the box that were far from new.
  8. like i said, it isn't a big deal. If the reel is in the condition you expected and is new as has been indicated, having a box or not isn't a deal breaker for me. If it is that much of a concern just send it back, easy enough.
  9. I guess I don't see it as bug of a deal. You are getting a 200 reel for 100. Many people don't keep the box but it sounds like you have everything you needed anyways. It is still warrantied so if you run into problems you are fine there too. It is part of doing an online sale....if you don't like it then buy it in person, seems pretty simple.
  10. smoking the turkey, making my once a year mac & cheese, pumpkin pie cheesecake and probably some jalapeño creamed corn in addition to whatever everyone else makes as far as sides go. This will be my first year smoking the turkey so we will see how it goes.....could be interesting since i haven't smoked a turkey before, only chickens.
  11. just in case anyone was wondering...the Eagles suck. that is all
  12. you can get one brand new from appomattox for 900 or 960 shipped so keep that in mind too.....
  13. Sam is the man when it comes to all the clubs around. Definitely consider a kayak as there are so many HP restricted or electric only lakes around here to fish and a kayak makes them accessible.
  14. i would get some stuff but their ordering system is horrible....i'll pass.
  15. i had it in the past not sure what it was and it self corrected much like yours.
  16. i am a big green mirror fan from costa....i like a lighter lens color though than most.
  17. st croix bargain room has their rage series of rods on sale for 89...great deal. I am wanting to pick a few more up but i really don't need them lol
  18. I have 3 St Croix, 1 Kistler, 1 Abu Garcia and 2 Ducketts in my normal rotation. I like them all but i am really starting to like the Ducketts. They will probably be the brand I go with when i decide to replace or get some new sticks.
  19. I have owned glasses from just about every manufacturer out there in both glass and plastic lenses. My last pair of Costas i broke the lenses and replaced them with a decent pair of plastic lenses. I was then gifted a pair of costa 580G sunglasses for my birthday and i can say that they are by far the nicest sunglasses i have owned. My previous Costas were the 400G which were great but these beat out any plastic lens i have seen by a longshot and any of the glass ones i have worn from Smith, Native, Maui Jims etc... you can find them on various auction sites for big discounts too...my pair i got for about 85 off retail.
  20. not a fan of chips per se but i do like some tortillas and salsa
  21. Oh i know, I do a put in up there when i float the north anna to the pamunkey and end up at the 301 put in/take out. That is a good float now that i am thinking about, just pretty long, especially with the shorter daylight hours now this time of year. I went to it a few years ago and picked up a few things at a decent price and watched a few seminars and they were pretty good.
  22. I may check it out this year but like every year, it depends on the weather. It seems that the past few years it has been decent weather so i usually go out fishing instead.
  23. I think the FIP is what i was thinking about there....this is a good thread with some good info.
  24. i am still in my infancy of SI but i have seen those types of shapes on my screen before, referring to your bottom left comment, but wasn't sure if they were fish or not. guess i need to just find some more of them and try and catch them. So in this instance, would this fish be behind your boat at the time you took this picture?
  25. i prefer rivers but fish lakes more often. fishing out of a kayak presents some challenges when river fishing when i don't have a shuttle set up.
