  1. Rio makes good products for sure and i have used them for bass for many years.
  2. I think it depends on what else, picks, are involved. The top teams in the draft need a QB and if you are trading away your pick you better have something in place. Bradford is a really good QB but he has health issues and there has been some interest in Barkley already too so who knows. I don't think Tebow is going to be anything more than a training camp guy but allegedly he has been working with that QB coach who works with Brady i think so who knows. Chip isn't afraid to do anything that is for sure.....
  3. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12723790/tim-tebow-philadelphia-eagles-reach-contract-agreement Interesting to say the least....i doubt he will be around at the start of the season since he Eagles now have 4 QB on the roster or it may mean that they are packaging 2 of their QB to try and move up to get Mariota....between the eagles and sixers, the drafts will be must see TV..
  4. go with a WF and in that price range i am not real sure but i have heard good things about the Scientific anglers frequency series.
  5. I have caught fish in every month of the year here in VA with water temps as low as 35 on a crank bait so for me, like A-Jay, i always have a crank bait tied on.
  6. I never understood lying to people when on the lake when they ask you how you were doing. It isn't like you randomly met the people, they are already on the same lake as you are so it isn't like they are going to learn about some new place. I am always honest about it and what i caught them on. I figure why not share my love of the sport. If it makes my lake busier, that's fine too, i just find another lake, there is plenty of water out there to explore and i have found quite a few great lakes by just deciding one day to go check them out. I do admit that river spots are different, especially wintering holes and those i am not going to share, the same goes for native brookie streams as they can get wiped out from added pressure and part of the fun with those places is finding them.
  7. Thanks. My advisor who was performing the evaluation stated that i reminded her of situations she had in her first year of teaching and that I handled it better than she did I knew better than to try something new on an evaluation day, but it is what it is and making mistakes is how we learn....at least that is what i tell my kids in class
  8. Last week of teaching is coming to a close....had my last formal evaluation yesterday....didn't go well the kids were a little crazy so it was by far not my best lesson but it happens and i think i will still ok. This is the last one and basically tells me if i pass my student teaching experience or not....While i am not too concerned i am still a little anxious.
  9. your chances of surviving any type of accident on the water increases with a PFD being worn. it is really sad to see that a dad and his two kids going out to enjoy nature in a canoe ends in such a tragic event. I hesitate to call it an accident because not wearing a PFD is not an accident, it is a conscious choice that is made that can have dire consequences. I feel for those kids having to see their dad drown, probably while trying to help them too...
  10. I bought a macbook air in late 2013 and the next year bought a desktop for my son and wife and now we are an all apple household.....wouldn't have it any other way. Easy to use and the learning curve isn't as bad as you think.
  11. I am not a fan of using a leader but i have read that there are basically two trains of though. One is keeping it relatively short and i have seen others that say they want their leader not to be about 2.5 times the length of the rod so that when landing a fish, the leader knot is on the reel itself which prevents another potential failure point.
  12. Glad everyone is ok as that could have been really bad. I know while out in my kayak i have heard some creaking and moved out of the fall zone. I tend to position my boat relatively shallow so i can use my stake out pole so this is always a concern for me, especially on windy days
  13. I like golf and as a kid i used to join the local par 3 course for he summer and play a few times a week. All that being said as i got older there is just something wrong, to me, about paying to go do a "sport". Not to mention all the rules about dress code and all that mess...i'll stick to fishing, cycling, rock climbing and hiking....maybe another reason is i have enough expensive hobbies as it is
  14. true but they are also have instincts to flee or check out things they don't know what it is, like a fishing line for example. There are also arguments made that they can become conditioned to certain baits so why not line too? Personally, i don't think bass have the ability to discern that said bait was tied to said line and then after being caught say wait there is some line, i better not eat whats at the end of it.
  15. one of the ones i like a lot is the Bucks County Hybrid. Big juicy tomato that is almost too sweet. I haven't seen too many large tomatoes as sweet as these are but they are fantastic cut into thick slices, topped with some fresh basil and then some mozzarella and put on the grill. Fantastic!! I am not sure of the cherry types we put in last year but they were like candy. It was awesome to see my so not be 5 year old playing in the back yard and walk over to the garden, pluck a few and a few spinach leaves as a snack and then back to playing.
  16. I thought the move was crazy but after signing Murray i think it was worth a shot. Kiko showed major promise and didn't get DROY for nothing. It is also a position where our starter went out with a major injury and is getting late in his career so finding a replacement and a cheap one at that, was worth the gamble. We also have less money tied up in the RB position now than we would with just having Shady. Murray does fit the running style of the offense a little better but i still think McCoy is the better all around back.
  17. you ask as many people and you will get as many different answers ranging from Yes it does to sometimes to maybe to bass aren't line shy. The only way to know is to try it for your self and see how it impacts your fishing in your waters. I use straight braid for everything and rarely if ever even use a leader and I do as well as my buddies who use leaders or no braid at all.
  18. I didn't bother mentioning the herremans cut because it wasn't a huge deal but i did forget the Sanchez signing which was a good one really, probably the best back up in the league even if he is the most turnover prone QB in NFL history. As far as the whole GM part, mostly speculation and again, inconsequential as Chip is now the GM of the team like he wanted from the beginning.
  19. I feather the line with my index finger and then use the sam finger to close the bail manually. It just comes with practice to the point where you don't even think about it. You will also get to the point where you won't have to do it too much.
  20. i like that Kelly is doing things his way and getting his players. he is either going to be a legend in philly or need the national guard to walk to his car.....lol
  21. i use them with a weighted swim bait hook, as a trailer for chatter baits and on an regular jig head when the conditions allow it. They come through lily pads better than just about any bait and some of the strikes you get on them are flat out violent.
  22. I agree that the only position that hasn't been upgraded is WR but with all new players it will also be a matter of how quickly the team can become a cohesive unit. I still think Chip is going to somehow go all in and get Mariota though.
  23. Nothing wrong with using the already sprouted plants but around here, the variety is not as good. Last year i was crazy with the tomatoes trying out a bunch of different types and ended up having 25 plants which was too many to keep up with and not waste. The one good thing is i now know what types i like and can focus on those. I really liked the cherry tomatoes but they produced so many tomatoes we couldn't give enough away. I imagine i will have a few stragglers from the ones that fell on the ground last year. Last summer i think i ended up pulling 12 or so that sprouted from fallen tomatoes the year before.....gave a lot of those plants away though so it wasn't that bad.
  24. Rex is a pretty good coach and is inheriting a pretty solid defense and made some moves on offense to help that side of the ball out as well.
  25. Bills are gonna be solid as long as McCoy doesn't continue to cry like a baby.....they could win the division for sure
