so you are familiar with those epic rivalry games between 'cuse and 'nova then.....so sad to see it all split up

so you make a valid distinction in that there are fans of teams and sports and then those that are fans of both. I am fan of both the sport itself and the teams regardless of their success or failures. And seriously, you are going to call out roiders and not mention A-Rod, probably the worst one of them all? I will argue that there is no better sport to attend in person than baseball with hockey being a close second then basketball and then NFL. I will bet that more people participate in baseball/softball than football by a long shot and it will always remain America's past time.

I watched that game because, well it was the playoffs and it had Buddy Ryan who i always liked. I also think that was the game where he tried to punch gilbride in the face on the sideline.... And one ofthe all time greats in phillies broadcast history....Hary Kalas. Most people recognize most from his voice overs on the NFL films which he did a ton of since that was started down in south philly.

Baseball on the radio is awesome...i try and get my 3 year old to listen as long as he can jsut so he knows what it is like to see a game happening through radio announcers. Unfortunately there aren't many great radio guys out there anymore.

As a college basketball fan you will appreciate this.....I was at the famous Duke-Kentucky game when Christian Laetner hit the shot to win it and was perfect from the field. I had no rooting interest for either team but after laetner stepped on the guy from kentucky, i did lose respect for duke till he left.

I do see an exception if your kid is playing on a team but if my son played for the cowboys i would want him to do well and hopefully get traded lol And i can guarantee that as soon as he was done playing and even while he was playing i would be rooting for the eagles. Obvisouly my loyalty would be with my family over anything else. I also don't see a problem at all i nwatching or enjoying other sports or teams. I watched that crappy game last night And sorry but an NFL player shouldn't wear another NFL teams hat..... And if i worked for GE there is a good chance all of my applicances would be GE. I am not a Michael Jordan fan at all. While i can appreciate hsi skills coming into the league at the perfect time, I would never once root for him to succeed, except maybe in the olympics, or win. You know why, because if he won or played well that meant the Sixers didn't. So it sounds like i am in the minority here but i guess most philly fans are.....

Man, 3 of my most hated teams in sports, well except the knicks i hate boston much much more lol I do agree that i enjoy watching a well played game no matter who is playing, especially when it comes to basketball at either the college or the pro level.

the whole college thing brings up another question. I am not a big college football fan but i do like college basketball. How many people who are die hard college fans either went to the school or are in the same town or nearby vicinity? Growing up in the philly area the only football team was the Eagles but college basketball has always been huge with LaSalle, Temple, Villanova, Penn, St. Joes etc...I have always been a villanova and temple fan but definitely root for any philly team come tourney time with villanova being my favorite.

I wouldn't have picked you as a soccer guy but i guess you learn something new every day. I get to the point that i don't even play anyone on my fantasy football team if they are playing against the eagles and in pick-em leagues i pick the eagles all the way up to when they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Sports Loyalty....
So all these threads got me to wondering. I see plenty of posts where people say they switched to liking this team x years ago or they have so and so's jersey that they would wear if their team wasn't playing etc... Maybe i am in the minority here but i would never switch teams and no way would i ever buy another teams jersey or even a t-shirt. Hell, if i see a car trying to pass me with a cowboys sticker on it on the highway i don't even let them over. The only times i have a rooting interest in another team are when it is a rival team and i want to see them lose, if i have money on the game or if the outcome of said game can help my team. Now once my team is out, I have teams i like but it's not like i would buy a jersey or watch them over my team. So my question is, am in the minority here?

Seahawks
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/seattle-seahawks-cb-richard-sherman-pats-jim-harbaugh-143924688--nfl.html This is exactly why i would pull for the seahawks after the Eagles are out of contention.....well that and i love watching defense and they have a good one for sure

Zero Confidence In Confidence Baits.
I like a ML but used them on M with success plenty of times. Sounds more like it may be where you are fishing them. I use them in winter primarily for smallies when a nice slow presentation is warranted.

Dropped A Rod And Reel In Water Off A Boat
oops...and people say switching hands after the cast never causes any problems. I lost a straidc FJ on a st croix avid once. My story wasn't quite as dramatic though....i just bought a new kayak and had it in the flush mount rod holders. I was using my old paddle which was a little to short, apparently, and I was cruising along loving life when i felt a clunk and heard a splash.....looked back and the rod was long gone.

Seahawks
well then why go to florida teams? they all suck too lol I don't think i would be allowed back in my parent's house if i wore another team's jersey. My 3 year old already knows he gets put in timeout if he says he doesn't like the Eagles

Seahawks
McCoy did play all 16 his rookie year and i believe the other two years he played 15. Last year he was banged up and played 12 but if they weren't out of it so early he said he would have played. Jackson is pretty much the same. Played all 16 rookie season then 15, 14 and 15 followed by last years 11 games. I do think some of the games he missed were coaches decisions though as he was suspended for being a diva a few times by the walrus. How do you just switch teams?

Seahawks
That game was lost long before the stupid clock management really but it didn't help for sure. The offense isn't designed to work slow so that is going to be a challenge they face all season. We saw the same thing against the skins in teh second half. While they can score quicky it seems to be difficult for them to go fast then slow then fast again. That may change as the offense matures but until it happens i think they need to blow people out and never let up on the gas, especially with the defense they have. Your prediction of 10 or 11 wins is a bold one and looking at the schedule i find it difficult to see given the division usually splits games against themselves.

Seahawks
Except the Chargers apparently........While i appreciate your enthusiasm i guess i have been tainted for far to long by far to many philly sports teams to count on anything or even bother to make predictions on success. The chargers had 2 TO to the Eagles 0 and they lost, that tells me a lot about the offense really. It is explosive for sure but i am not 100% sold on it as of yet. I think the worst thing that can happen for the eagles is for Vick to have a great year (unless they win it all), he signed a one year deal so if he plays well it makes the team decide if they resign an aging QB or do they really build for the future. McCoy and Jackson are studs for sure and i really wish Maclin was healthy. The defense is horrendous, not just bad or average--they are the worst i have watched. I am almost wondering if they were coached to try and grab the jersey from behind because i saw multiple players do it, with boykin doing it three times, and get caught. They can't tackle which is pretty basic stuff. Luckily for them i see 8-8 or maybe 9-7 winning the division so they may get into the playoffs and get bounced in the first round unless the defense really comes around. They just haven't been the same since Johnson died and Dawkins left....

Seahawks
I am an eagles fan and even I am shocked at your eagles prediction.....maybe you just like birds of prey or soemthing. Also keep in mind this is only week 2 and the seahawks have never been a great team on the road but i sure do like watching their defense.

The Road To The Super Bowl
Andy Reid is a good coach...KC wil lbe a player sooner rather than later. Remember that last year many experts picked them to win the division but injuries took their tole. It's to bad that they will lose on thursday

Long Fish Battle
The longest freshwater was a approximately 20lb carp i caught on my 4wt when i was killing some time catching sunnies and i saw a carp feeding. made a cst in the right spot, apparently, and the fight was on. He took me into my backing quite a few times and one of those times took the backing down to where i could see the spool. I was also on the bank so i was running around like crazy. Somehow I ended up catching him after about 30 minutes or so. Saltwater was a 45-50lb tuna that took me around an hour.

The Road To The Super Bowl
In case anyone missed it, the Eagles can pretty much score at will or so it seems but the defense couldn't stop a pop warner team. Basic tackling mistakes, multiple dumb penalties.....kills me. Oh, and RG3 is not having a sophomore slump, he is not that good and his biggest strength is being taken away from him by not allowing him to run. Let the kid play, hope he stays healthy and if not, play cousins, he is pretty good too.
