  1. This is exactly the right advice. One other thing to add is when trying them on move like you would while fishing. A lot of people just try them on and say oh they feel good but are they kneeling down, moving climbing over stuff etc. I do a lot of small water fishing for trout and smallies and use waders in my kayak so that mobility is key. I have owned patagonia, Simms and Frogg Toggs over the years and they served their purposes well. I went out on a limb based on all the ads and deals I was seeing a few year ago and bought a pair of the iWader elastic ones and they are great. If you are more round person they probably won't be the one for you but for me, they are great for hte bushwhacking and small stream fishing for me.
  2. Everyone is different. Pretty much any fishing kayak you can stand in. Ultimately it is up to you and your balance. I used to stand and fish from my redfish 12 with no issues. The biggest hurdle for many is the going from sitting to standing and the reverse. Go get in as many boats as you can and see for yourself how they feel. I Personally have an ATAK 120 and can stand, move around, float downstream and flyfish with no issues. This is probably the larger concern on a modern fishing kayak than tipping.
  3. That is accurate. The last 2 months has been pathetic from a results and effort perspective. I don't think they fire him though and I am ok with it but they need to get some experienced coordinators.
  4. no it won't be on 5 different streaming platforms unless they buy the rights. NBC and peacock are the same company so it made sense to do it. I am pretty amazon just paid 1B a year for the next 11 to air Thursday night football. It all comes down to who pays for it and what they do with it, kind of like directv having the stranglehold on NFL ticket for years. 12 win seasons are meaningless unless you have a chance to win it all. Personally I would rather lose more games and move on than be mediocre forever.
  5. Collinsworth is a pencil necked ******* and has the most punchable face in all of sports.......right behind him is Joe Buck.
  6. Last year I started exploring more smaller local flows, some wading some with the kayak and I plan to do just that even more. Something special about catching a decent sized smallie out of a stream that you can cast across. I also want to explore more of the james river. I may also revisit some of the places I used to fish for largemouth but haven't in a few years. My real goal is a citation sized smallie on the fly rod and a few more citation sized largemouth on the fly rod too.
  7. It's not bullying, it's capitalism at work. I don't fish conventional that often but when I do I stick to name brands simply because I am not as up on the current manufacturers of products that are house brand so if i need something, I want consistency. I haven't bought but maybe 5-6 cranks in the last 3-4 years and they were all spro or rapala.
  8. There is zero reason with the talent the eagles have on offense that they only score 17 points. The offense is vanilla and the decisions made by Hurts last night were horrendous. When you have a kicker like Elliot and need 15-20 yards you don't throw deep into the endzone on a guy who is double covered. I blame this on player execution on defense and coaching on offense.
  9. Dallas just showed how weak of a team they are by their showing Sunday. They have the easiest schedule in the league and beat up on bad teams. The sign of a good team is beating teams, road or home and winning games you don't think they should but finding a way to win. Baltimore looked tough and ready to play and of course the game tonight means a lot for the Eagles as it will all but lock up the NFC east and keep the hope alive for the #1 seed. I hope Buffalo can somehow make the playoffs because I can promise you nobody wants to play them.
  10. With that budget I think it is going to be tough to go kayak, electronics and motor. What I would do if I was in your position is find a motor that you can use on your current kayak and a future one and same for electronics. Then start saving and keeping your eyes open for used or even end of year new sales. One thing to consider is many kayak manufacturers do not extend warranty to a new owner and that can come in to play down the road. I had a warranty claim on my kayak after 8 years of owning it and the first thing they asked for was a bill of sale. I am a fan of the ATAK 120, used to have a 140 before the warranty, as it is a great paddling boat that I also have a motor on. I am a proponent of putting a motor on a boat designed to paddle as opposed to have a motor/pedal designed boat. I can stand and fish all day and float down rivers while standing and fly fishing so stability is not a concern. Honestly though there are lots of good options out there though and best bet is to try and paddle some and make sure you are looking for something that will serve your needs and not the needs of what someone else says they are.
  11. My dad was an electrician and his linesman pliers were an awesome hammer and I have taught my son and daughter the same thing.....faster to use that than go find your hammer...unless you are doing staples
  12. There is a show on netfilx called ancient apocalypses and it shows a lot of stuff like that on there. Pretty interesting stuff really.
  13. If I need a hammer then I am most likely a screwdriver and if i need a screwdriver then I am most likely a hammer.....so I guess that means sometimes.
  14. I don't have a windshield on my kayak but I do have a piece of pool noodle that I have mounted to hold used baits so they are able to dry and are out of the way.
  15. I guess that is a good idea if it works for but that is a lot of bags to use. I'd rather just throw some tape on the dividers in my plano box that has weight and head style.
  16. Yeah that wouldn't be a Virginia citation then....luckily it is an either or not both. I have come close on multiple occasions and gotten fish in the 19" class but haven't broken 20" on my fly rod here in VA.
  17. My biggest goal is to catch a citation sized smallmouth (20" or 5lb+) smallie on my home waters on my fly rod. Get up to PA to fish more with my dad and add a few more citation sized largemouth caught on the fly rod. Other than that....have fun with my family and kids and go from there.
  18. That is my preferred river vessel for the smaller creeks/rivers I fish.
  19. Eagles look tired and I can understand it given their schedule the last 5 weeks. Playing two teams in a row coming off 10 days of rest isn't easy. I am ok with going 3-2 in that stretch and they still control the division but lost the control to the 1 seed. The defense always seems to wake up in the second half and this game was no different. Three horrible turnovers that killed opportunities to score. Is what it is. Time to get it together and take care of business the rest of the season and get ready for the playoffs because if they don't figure something out, they will be pulling a Cowboys and getting knocked out early after a good regular season.
  20. our rivers have been either blown out or summer drought low so I haven't been out. They are looking good right now and I will probably hit one tomorrow but this river has more spotted bass than smallies but I have caught quite a few decent smallies in there too. There is also the chance at a striper so hopefully I can get into something worthwhile but if not, I will take a 68 degree day in December anytime.
  21. I have demo'd one before and maneuverability is not it's strong suit. Cool boat but for the price I would probably look at soemthing like a jon boat or even a bass raider or a twin troller.
  22. for me a long cast is the same for every technique really....it is just out of reach of what I can cast. I've never measured a cast so I have no idea. Closest I have is I know my casting circles are set up for 60' on my helix and have no issues reaching the target.
  23. Nope philly has 4 championships.
  24. yeah but i wonder how many of those came on the boats so it was an extra $5 on their payment over the next 120 months lol
  25. This is probably at the root of most of the naysayers......even if they don't admit it
