Biggest bass of the year so far on a rage rigged smokin' rooster... 6lbs - 22" and a 17"

Shane and I got out today, fished a new sport for the first time and put together an alright day. Lots of pickerel, some pretty small bass but I did manage my biggest fish of the year SO FAR at 6lbs on a Rage rigged smokin' rooster... She was 22"

Try a mojo rig with your spinning setup, I'd say a squarebill for the BPS... Definitely start with those, without knowing the water clarity I don't know about braid other than flipping the trees and throwing topwater

I use Power Pro as well, I wanna get around to try suffix 832 and seaguar kanzen

Yesterday I was throwing a keel weighted Gambler Big EZ swimbait, swimming it right under the surface of the water... All of a sudden it gets wacked, which is to be expected but when I set the hook the reel stayed in my hand and the rod went elsewhere! I ended up handlining the pickerel in lol... I assume I just didn't have the reel tightened in very well or something... I put the reel back in and it seemed to be fine, I don't think I broke my rod, got it on video to... Quite humorous

So this year I have already broke my revo stx (something on the inside), my t3 (a crack in the wing system, at least I can still use the reel), and broke the tip off of one of my rods... Good thing I start working again soon, gonna have to get a new reel or two... I can fix the rod myself...

Alright Nev, here's what I made out from the pics the first fish 22" - not touching on the left side so I'm not gonna give the 22.5" Second fish, 18" -18.5" Third one you gotta help me out, you know what the length was?

Great to have you! I can't tell if that's a hard measuring device or not... We've had problems in the past so the rule is hard measuring tapes or boards only... I'll count this fish

Yeah, I think live perch, bluegill, and crappie are illegal to use as bait in NH

Great to have you A-Jay, all the fish I entered last month were smallies lol... Of course my biggest fish of the year (4-6) was caught right at the end of april, would have been a good addition to last month. Definitely looking to have a better month and move up in the AOY standings!

Going down to CT tonight coming back Sunday morning... Hopefully I'll be able to get some fishing in at my favorite bass river the Housatonic. It is loaded with 2lbs smallies and is crazy fun when the bite is on, which it usually is, catching a decent smallie thrown in with the occasional trout nearly every cast some reaching over 20"... My girlfriend will be on camera duty with the GoPro LOL the scenery is pretty remarkable down there! I'll write up a report tomorrow night with some photos, everyone have a great weekend!
