  1. It seems rather strange that new tip section costs $30 including shipping. To utilize the warranty, you must pack up and ship the whole rod, send a check for $20 to cover return shipping. The prepaid, discounted shipping label costs $15. That adds up to $35. So, my point is...........what good is the warranty?
  2. I just got off the phone with St. Croix's service representative. I'm not at all impressed with their warranty. I bought three new Tidemaster series rods for Mexico. The second day out our guide picked up my medium rod and broke the tip section, while setting the hook on a 3 1/2 lb. bass. I've never owned a St. Croix rod before this time. Upon contacting the service center, I find out that it is actually cheaper to buy a brand new tip than to use the warranty and pay the shipping both ways. What the heck kind of warranty is that ? I think these will be the last St Croix rods I buy. Just a word of caution to those who may be considering purchasing their rods.
  3. Amen, Roger. Each day is a gift. My thoughts are with you.
  4. Joe, if you know someone that reloads, see if they will run those dirty lures through their brass tumbler.
  5. Anyone know where that video was taken? Was wondering if it was in the USA. Great job on the entire video.
  6. A friend of mine informed me that he and his bro-in-law had great success jigging Livingston lipless crankbaits through the ice. They caught quite a few good ones. It is just something I hadn't heard of before and thought I'd pass it along.
  7. Right hand dominant, cast with either, left hand retrieve.
  8. Timmy Horton, Rick Clunn, Ike, Gary Klein, Zell ..............I'd like to be able to fish with Tim for a couple days. He's without a doubt the most personable of the pros I've met. Byron Velvick is a very close second.
  9. You won't be disappointed, Crankster. Mike does a fine job.
  10. Does anyone have any personal experience fishing in Punta Cana? I'd like to a day trip either inshore or off , the 4th week in April. I was hoping that someone might be able to share some recommendations. Thanks guys.
  11. By the way, Jason, there's a video that deals with nothing but shore fishing. It may be of interest to you.

  15. I just got back home from an appointment with my oncologist. We all left that room with smiles on our faces. It'll be two months before our next appointment..........................heck ,I'm trying to get him to come fishing with us.
  16. I have made a hook sharpener that consists of two 7/32 chainsaw files affixed together in parallel. I superglued just the ends together and then used shrinktube to finish it off. Just draw the hook down the length of the files until you're happy with the points.
  17. I respectfully disagree. I do believe that the new world record swims somewhere. My guess would be either California, Japan or possibly Africa. There are folks who fish exclusively for these giants. I think the law of averages will finally catch up with the record.
  18. Welcome to the site.
  19. I personally don't worry much about frog colors except at night when I throw black ones. In daytime, as long as the belly is light colored I think it's good. I throw mostly white ones in daylight.
  20. Welcome from a fellow Pennsylvanian. Lots of opinions and great Information shared here. Lots of great folks too. Stitch
