  1. This is how I bent it and so far so good been tinkering all day thanks to the snow lmao
  2. Nice!!! You gonna be selling the OG handles from them? --- Just scooped up this JDM gem off *** guy had 4, 3 US and 1 JDM I lucked out! Now just gotta find the 4.9:1 gear set to make this my deep cranking reel.
  3. JESUS! Really!?! It seems like this spring is too stiff for the action needed. Even with it not in the hole the thumbar still clicks both ways but requires much less effort. I'm guessing that is what makes the cringe worthy noise lol
  4. I just tried bending the spring end a bit so it's pushing on a slight angle rather than it being straight up and down. Just engaged disengaged it 50+ times, opened it up and it's still in it. Might have solved it. That sure was a anomaly. We'll see what happens after more use.
  5. No I tried rd that it won't fully engage the other way
  6. Helping a friend out and figured out issue. The reel will engage mid cast and make a nasty ratcheting sound. The issue is this spring keeps popping out of the divet on the frame. Anyone experience this or know a fix?
  7. SV103s are discontinued so if you, OP, decide, act quickly!
  8. ??These state, Tighten cast control just enough to eliminate side to side play in spool. Set brake to 20 and gradually work your way down. Does it work setting it up the old school method, yes, but it's not optimal.
  9. What he says below Read the manual. You don't adjust the cast control on these like you do every other reel. Different animal.
  10. If you buy the US model (TW, EBay, local, etc.) then yes Daiwa USA. If you buy the JDM reel, which I don't even think it's ballistic I'm pretty sure it's another name/model all together, then you would have to find someone who does JDM reels. personally, I know for a fact US Daiwa won't service any of my JDM reels.
  11. Technically you have to send them back to Daiwa $25/reel for service which depending on how much you fish, once every 1-2 years. They will relube the bearings with the magseal oil. HOWEVER, DVT can definitely service them but will re lube the bearings with oil that isn't 'Magseal'. Do you have to use Mag seal?? No! Could you?? Yes! Should you?? I would and do! Same ballpark pricing regardless who services them. I own 2 of those newer ballistics, fished them all 2016. Smooth as silk, and zero line twist issues. Haven't had them serviced yet either. ?? You'll definitely like them.
  12. Didn't they just discontinue them too? Ahhh I'm debating on grabbing one more.
  13. I've had the brake dial move on me on the older fatter style dials (Lexa, TDZ, AirD) Never on the Tats/Zillion SVs. They're stiff to move intentionally nevermind accidentally. Lol
  14. Lmaooooooo I almost spit my dip out laughing! ????? lol no in all seriousness my Fury 735 Id be willing to try it on a goalith grouper! Lol
  15. I'm starting to wonder if some 735 Furys were mismarked from the factory. I read someone saying it was as soft as another brands M. @iabass8 I'm telling you the one I own is stiff beyond belief it feels 2 powers higher than the 734 Fury. It's nothing anywheres close to the champ 735 entirely different animal. When I get some time I gotta text you a vid comparing the tips. That didn't sound right at all lmaoooo ???
  16. I switched from all Shimano to all Daiwa last year. Miss a couple of the reels like the Chronarch Es and the Scorpions but other than that I have some new reels I love. There's nothing wrong with owning a couple from both brands either. However in tourney situations I don't need but prefer uniformity going from rod to rod through out the day. Enthusiast aside, when all the reels on the deck behave exactly the same and all have virtually the same settings it makes things simpler.
  17. Chrome anything for bright days with high winds.
  18. Shallow water fishing like Squarebills and cranks down to about 10ft I go with bluegill, pumpkinseed and Perch patterns mostly. Anything deeper some sort of shad variant. If a lake has alewives, Shad blueback herring etc I throw some silver/gray colors, if visibility is less than 5ft I opt for chartreuse colors. If it's really sunny, clear water and windy I go for something real flashy but still in a Shad pattern.
  19. For general purposes the CT will be fine. Great reels for the money. 6.3:1 is pretty much most versatile ratio if your including moving baits. 7:1 or higher for Jigs, frogs and anything else you want to pick up lots of line fast. Type R If you plan on throwing lighter stuff. Short and sweet response hope it helps.
  20. Yeah 110% positive I'm going agm. When Wheelers boat broke down on Cherokee it was due to battery issues. Just read he was running a 36v lithium in his Legend. Yeah def not a good thing for a brand new battery.
  21. Lmaoooo not a 1/2 but close 3/16-1/4 on a DX703/733 and 3/8-1/2 on the DX704/744. That's what I closed out 2016 with.
  22. So cool how that works. That makes complete sense as to how it allows it to cast the super light baits. Do the SV finesse reels like the 105/alphas/etc have the same system or is it tweaked to those reels specific?
  23. Cool story bro!
