Did you leave the factory Split rings on? If not did you keep the 4/3 set up? What hooks you running 1/0 and 1?

I run mustads too! If I just did #4 front back I wonder if it would affect the action... also I have some 1x not the short ones the regular length triple grips. Same thing wonder if it would affect the action. The stock hooks seemed pretty thick... I was contemplating on doing the regular wire TGs as well... but I'm out in those sizes.

I just stripped all my D20s to put new hooks and rings on. I go to match up the O rings and hooks and realized each bait has a #3 and #4 Ring and a #1 and #2 hook. Does anyone know which size goes front and rear??? i would assume the 3 and 2 go together and 4 and 1... ? Not sure which one set where tho??? I'm sure I could put whatever I want on em but I know these in particular are finicky on action as it is. Thanks in advance!

Sniper fan here in 12lb for jigs. Assassin is good stuff too.

Guys that have used both, from your own experience, is the abrasion resistance the same or less on the XL model? I know if it aint broke dont fix it, Sniper/Shooter have been great for me, but have been wanting to try this stuff for some time now.

A handful of guys on the tourney trail up here swear by it for anything 8# and under. General consensus is its crap 10# and up. Idk I never used it just off the terrible reviews online. But that is a good question why they keep producing it!

The crank coffin has a deep lid not flat like the bait coffin. You can stand up 40 something 8XDs in that thing.

Exactly why I stopped using a M/F. 685 too for larger jerkbaits. I love em!

Mono Palomar Knot FC San Diego Jam Braid Palomar i prefer snap over tying to the ring as the knot could potentially slid to the middle and break.

I use the Owner Hyper snap welded. Not a fail yet.

Anyone know what brand strike king uses. Been fishing them for years and have never had a split ring fail.

I take the split rings off the front of almost every bait I own and use a snap. Im also sure there's guys out there that still tie loop knots. You're on the right track for sure. That isn't the size you want tho. You want a snap that will be equivalent to the O ring you take off that will almost guarantee the bait will have the right action. You could even add the snap to the O ring and leave it on for a little bit of a different action. Majority of baits use a size 3 Split Ring on the front so comparable size snap would be either a 1 or 2.

Second gen?? Same reel, new color scheme. Would explain why the black one is on sale everywhere, to get rid of old stock. I'm completely guessing... good score tho either way heard great things about that reel! ??

Hey all, obviously Owner Hyper split rings are the Gold standard. But I can't find them in bulk. I need like 100-150 all different sizes but mainly #3. Any other brands you guys like that come in bulk? I've had eagle claws rings bend out on me....

?? Only thing I would consider doing is veering towards all the same or similar reels across the lineup give or take gear ratios. would help down the road when it comes time for maintenance and parts..

4 for hair Jigs ?

Side note I typically use Shooter FC as main line for Carolina Rig. If I know I'll be retying a lot or there's signs of zebra mussels in the water I'm fishing I'll switch over to Armilo for main line. The abrasion resistance is great for that price point.

The armilo defier is a pretty unforgiving line. I wouldn't use it for poppers or walking baits, but buzzbaits and soft body frogs I've had good success with 15 and 17lb. 2 different animals in my opinion it's been so long since I used regular defier, too much coin imo
