  1. Haha . My most expensive reel is on an inexpensive rod. What can I say , they just work well together .
  2. It works great at times . I have not used the twin tail grubs but have the single tails . There use to be a worm called the Gator Tail by Ditto and I used it often like that .
  3. The jig and twin tail grub is how I learned to fish bottom bouncing lures .
  4. A long time ago a pro on television advised on how to trim weedguards . So I trimmed all my jigs that way and ended up with a bunch of jigs that snagged easily .
  5. I made a last minute change Kennedy for Poworwhateverznik . Only good pick I made so far .
  6. 108 anglers 98 limits .
  7. Buzzbait by a mile .
  8. No , the wind nor the heat kills the top water bite . The only way to know is to try it . I had one of my largest limits ever , two weeks ago on a sunny day with a moderate wind using a buzzbait .
  9. Experiment with them . There are 101 ways to use them . Try some texas rigged and throw them in the heaviest cover. Looks like you forgot to buy a pack of plain old plastic worms .
  10. Have you tried the belly weighted hooks ? I havent but think they should work well .
  11. Ive never used a tungsten weight . to expensive .
  12. Keep the weight smaller than the plastic and peg it . The plastic becomes wedged not the weight . Because the plastic compresses it can usually be pulled through . Tubes are real good at this .I lost a hundred or so rigs before figuring this out .
  13. If your talking about the Burke Flex plugs , I have two . Didnt know they were collector items .
  14. I didnt even bother with pictures . There were going to be a million photos taken , so I just observed as much as possible in three minutes . The time leading up , was exciting , then totality .Then like a cosmic orgasm , it was over .
  15. About the only time I peg a Texas rig is when I'm fishing rip rap . Then I make sure the bait is wider than the weight .
  16. It was spectacular . I went where I wanted and my wife just had to shut up about it . LOL . No traffic , no clouds .
  17. Sore subject . I'll probably miss it because my wife has her own ideas on where to view it . I'll probably be stuck in traffic . If it was me , I would be on some gravel road set up right now .
  18. Doubles are not rare .
  19. There was no internet . I read magazines and put in lots of time on the water . I spent a decade trying to learn deep water before it finally began to click .
  20. I shagged balls and kept score at the ball park .
  21. That describes the Berkely Dredgers except for the smallest 10.5 .
  22. I try to see the lake without the weeds . If it was barren of weeds where would I fish ?
  23. Heres some lures I use and the depths with 12 lb mono Big Game . Lots of lures less than 10 foot but I love the Berkely Dredger 10.5 at 8 foot . 10 foot Norman Deep Little N has been my long time favorite . 10 to 12 foot the rapala Crankin Rap CR14 has caught a ton of bass the last few years . I dont know if they are still available . I like the feel of them and have them in every model . 15 to 17 foot i when I whip out the 6XD . The Berkely Dredgers cast well and dive to advertised depths and have a tight action . The 10.5 floats the others rise slowly , suspend or even sink .
  24. Heres how I like to choose baits . I pck a lure that dives a couple of feet deeper than the bottom . I dont like it when a lure dives to deep and is digging in real hard . A 6XD for example is overkill in ten foot of water . I just catch more fish with a lure that touches and deflects off the bottom than one that is trying to burrow in . .
  25. I must be fishing in that other 1 percent .
