  1. The road was closed on the lake i was planning on fishing, so I had to change plans and head to a different lake. I've been fishing a few hours and catching fish pretty consistently on a 6 inch Texas rigged pumpkin Zoom lizard. Just caught a 5 lb bass on a laydown. The next tree was a newer tree. Its behind me in the photo. Coverd in branches. I pitched the lizard in it and set the hook on this bass . She was immidiately wrapped around limbs and jumped twice , then I couldnt feel it. Thought she came off. I laid the rod down and walked my hands down the line then felt it move. She was still on there . I finally reached the fish and brought her out . Thats why she has that big sore on her. It was fresh from rubbing on the limbs. So I got lucky twice. Once having to change plans and somehow landing that bass all wrapped up in that tree. I was using ounces.
  2. My inflatable inflated in storage. I threw it away. I fish solo all the time. Your ordeal was scary.
  3. What if a craw bait was made with thrree claws?
  4. I wont eat liver. I dont know all the rules and whos in first . I have an 8lb 1oz bass. . Mo state record is 13.14. so if I did it right this bass scores 61.64.
  5. Caught a 5 and an 8 today plus many others. Texas rigged zoom lizard on laydowns. surface temp 90 degree. About 10 inches visibility.
  6. I never found a brushpile I didnt like. If it doesnt produce one trip it may very well produce multiples next trip. I dont pass any of them up. Off shore brushpiles are my favorite place to throw big worms.
  7. Some times I think the more tore up the bait the more fish bite it. I fish tubes until they are no longer fishable . An obliberated tube is a good tube.
  8. Adding to my post. Early in the year , muddy water is differnt than now. A big Colorado bladed spinnerbait for example, can catch bass . On the other hand . a properly placed lure, like a small spinnerbait may get slammed by bass . If a bass is occupying a stump a quieter lure will not sneak past it unnoticed. I will purposely try to sneak a less obtrusive lure past places where a bass may be waiting just to have it annihilated
  9. 6 inches of visibilty is not uncommon where I fish. I throw a lot of spinnerbaits, bladed jigs,buzzbaits... Shallow and tight to cover . I use easy casting lures that I can cover water with quickly and precisely .I'm not accurate at predicting where the fish will be , so I cast at everything. They may be in the back of pockets, main lake and everywhere in between.
  10. I dont have a true wake bait. I have used Bomber Model A's, and big Colorado bladed spinnerbaits to make a wake. The largest spotted bass I ever caught was on a Rebel Popper, dont know the name but twice the size of a Pop R. I reeled it in steadily, just under the surface. It had a tight little wiggle and put out a nice wake. Retrieved it by a standing timber tree and the bass nailed it. If I remember correctly, thats the only one I caught like that.
  11. I use my trusty DeepWee R's , Bomber Model A's and Norman Deep Little N's.
  12. I reguarly pitch regular tubes into thick cover. Not big flipping tubes.Normal sized ones like Original Gitzits and Z-Man tubes. Use the largest ewg hook I can get away with and an unpegged 5/16th oz weight.

Thats an interesting way of fishing them. Never tried it. It would be a clear water thing.
  14. I also have a couple that I never used.

I used the 3/4 oz red Eye shad. Bounced it on a point about 20 foot deep and caught a few bass and one lunker. Only didi it the one time.
  16. Last time I fished Table Rock the lake was high with flooded brush. I caught most of my largemouths on buzzbaits but it was in May.
  17. I'm a retired firefighter. I remember the exact day I had to have a break from the heat. Havent been the same since.

I use the chartreuse and red markers. I'll take the chartreuse and run it down the length of a soft plastic giving it a more natural two-tone apperance.A JuneBug worm with that turquoise back created by the marker very effective .This spring I used red markers on pumpkin bladed jig trailers . White with that dirty red trailer were getting hit hard. I should have kept that a secret because lots of people are throwing it at that lake.
  19. I can no longer tolerate extreme heat and wont be fishing this week. I use to love fishing in the heat . Points were my number one spot. I liked deeper flats close to drop offs. Shade in shallow water. Standing timber and brush were all productive areas.
  20. Buzzbait is the funnest. Most effective is a Texas rig. But anything that is catching fish is my favorite at the time. Bladed jig had been my most effective this year.
  21. Those are pretty much the same lures I would use. I might add a Spook.
  22. Did you catch an occasional channel cat too? I caught a few and the strikes were vicious.
  23. I like tubes on points . Also, if I can hack it, I'll fish shallow where the recreational boat wakes are slamming the banks. Those waves stir up the shallows and sets the food chain in motion. I learned this as a kid fishing on the Mississippi river. When a barge would pass by ,the waves on rip rap banks would create a feeding opportunity . I found the same thing occurs on reservoirs .
  24. I miss beer Because of stomach problems I havent been able to drink any. I bought some Coronas in 7 oz bottles, thinking I could drink one while bbqing. Wrong, my gut wasnt having it. I'll try again in a few months.
