  1. For jigheads I like the short shank DOA'S.
  2. Good deal. Now catch a lunker.
  3. Found a Musky lure yesterday . Double Showgirl , recently lost. Looks brand new . i probably will never throw this montrosity. Next to a 1/2 oz spinnerbait.
  4. Went fishing for the first time this season. Caught about 24 on my homemade spinnerbait with gold magnum willow blades. Nothing big. A limit over 15 inches with three about three lbs. In the spring time this lure gets it done every year. Its time to make some more because one broke and I'm down to my last one.
  5. After losing a musky and sturgeon that were too big to land, I bought a big net.Havent hooked a big fish since. I have used it on a couple of five lb bass. Its overkill for bass but I'm prepared.
  6. It would be cheaper to just use silver. I'm going back to lead after my supply becomes depleted.
  7. Been using those for decades. I only use EWGs with tubes or thicker plastics.
  8. I dont know. I just know that when I used heavy straight flipping hooks I was losing big fish. Probably operator error. I quit using them.
  9. Let me know how good it works. Instead of losing a ten dollar lure, I could be losing a ten dollar lure and three dollar lure retriever.
  10. Everybody knows the type of places bass like to hang out. Lure selection is pretty easy too. So usually it comes down to presentation. Putting the lure in the right place accurately and quietly. I'm not saying a person has to be the best caster in the world but decent enough to place a lure where desired most of the time with a low, precise trajectory. After a few hours a pattern will usually emerge.
  11. The best spinnerbait angler I ever fished with , this was his favorite lure.
  12. After a promising start I am sinking fast. Dont know to pick river rats or scopers or both. My selections for the Arkansas river . Mosely Welcher Livesay Thompkins Browning.
  13. My five baits are completely different.
  14. That made me laugh.
  15. As far as soft plastics with appendages I use lizards and Hula grubs.
  16. I agree. Cousin and I won a 500 boat tournament and he took the test. I didnt trust the thing. He passed. I will never voluntarily take a polygraph. Maybe with Mullins Go Pros being on they will come to the conclusion that he not guilty of any infraction and see how insane this polygraph issue is.
  17. Squarebill crankbaits. I fished deep divers all the time but when it came to shallow fishing, short lipped baits were lacking, opting instead for a spinnerbait. Then one day about a dozen years ago it just happened. Its a staple now, especially in standing timber.
  18. I pour my own and transfer blades from productive lures to them. I have some Terminator blades on the 3rd or 4th lure now. Excalbur counter rotating and Booyah Covert on a couple.

I use Trilene xl Clear blue fluorescent 17 lb test for most texas rig fishing. I'm a line watcher.
  20. My wifes team kicked butt and was in first place in a few groups that gives prizes. Final tally she does not win because of the stupid bonus points given to Atkins. She had Jordan Lee who beat him by 6 places but Atkins gets 40 extra points.

A lot of those old fishing writers didnt know much about bass fishing.
  22. I once asked a Hispanic fellow what his favorite tequilla was. He replied "They all get you drunk." Thats how I feel about spinnerbaits. They all get you bit.
  23. Small spinnerbaits and Beetle spins should get you some bites. Dont scoff at the lowly Beetle spin.
  24. McKinney from 50th place almost made the top 10 again. Hes a phenom.
