Pair A Rod With My Reel
I know it's not as high end as the ones listed but check out the carbonlite rods. That would leave you some money to buy line and a bunch of jigs and trailers. I have one and it performs just as well as my higher end rods.

Vehicle Rod Holder
I use two bungee cords pulled right between the coat hooks. Works pretty good. I keep the rods and reels in sleeves and they stay put.

Kayak Fishing
Forgot to mention if you get the frontier definatley invest in the transport wheels that clip into the transome mount. Worth every penny. I went the cheap way and tried to make my own and after spending more time fixing them then using them, I bit the bullet and bought them. I hoist mine on the roof of my SUV with no problems. Keeping an eye out for a PWC trailer though so I can keep it all rigged up and not have to deal with rigging all the time.

Kayak Fishing
I have the frontier and love it. Its super stable, endless rigging options. Easy to stand in, etc. Its a bit heavy at 77 lbs dry, but manageable. Certainly not the fastest through the water, but I wanted stability to fish not speed. I highly recommend it. I bought mine up at the Tackle Shack in Newbury NH. I had a few issues with minor things, and called Nucone and dealt with Blake the owner. There customer service is top notch. I actually just sent and email to Nucanoe and Blake replied back withing about 20 minutes. I'm only about 20 minutes from Portsmouth if you are really torn and want to check one out in person we could probably arrange that. My schedule is a bit odd and really busy at the moment, but can work something out.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
There's another access. Can't think of the street but look on google map view. There's a grass field to the west I think. If you look there's a trail there that is accessible and not a far walk with kayak cart etc. I spoke to a neighbor and they said as long as trash etc not left behind they don't mind people going in that way. They just don't openly advertise it. Just an FYI.

Good Fishing Kayak For Newbie?
Just my opinion but size depends on a few factors. . How much gear do you plan on bringing etc. more room is usually better than less room however if you plan on going through the woods than smaller may be better. Also do a few searches for transport carts. Makes a huge difference when moving across land with a 75 pound boat. Also if you decide to buy a cart rather than build one don't skimp on that either buy a good quality one. Nothing worse than being a mile in the woods with the boat ablbd the cart craps out on you.

Man I'm glad you guys are having luck. I must really suck at fishing lately. Went to pawtuckaway this am and got one fish maybe a pound. I tried everything from swim jigs to spinners crank baits and senkos and not so much as a tap on the end of the line. I guess I need to try and go more west and see if I have any luck. I'm jealous of you all catching decent fish.

Good Fishing Kayak For Newbie?
Wilderness ride 115. There's a new 115 x coming out that I would wait and see the price for. Extremely versatile SOT kayak that can be rigged and stood in to fish. A bit heavy but still manageable. Fair warning. Kayak fishing is addictive and can be costly. I would suggest taking it out a few times to see where you want things rigged based on you fishing habits.

Vendetta Vs. Veritas Vs. Volatile
Veritas. You won't be disappointed. Just check the guides to be straight. Also check the epoxy holding the guides on.

Scared To Put Spinners In My Box
Go to walmart and buy the $1 ones to try out and build confidence. They catch fish but aren't the greatest. If you lose one your only out a dollar.

Maine Fisherman

Kayak Beginner Help
Native ultimate, wilderness commander, nucanoe classic/frontier to name a few but all are probably out of that price range unless you happen to find one on CL used. I can only personally speak for the nucanoe frontier, and I am about the same size as you and can stand easily even in choppy water. Well worth the price in my opinion, (about 1200 new). Only advice I can give you is try a bunch of them out. If you settle and just buy something, you will likely regret it down the road and have wasted your money. Seat time is a must if at all possible. Also plan on a few extra hundred dollars on a PFD and paddle. Also check out the new WS Ride 115x that should be out soon. Again probably higher than you want to spend but looks to be a nice rig.

Best Kayak For Us Big Boys ...
I went with the 12 ft. 10 footer wasn't out when I bought mine. I dont think I would sacrifice the 2 ft for the few lbs difference.

Best Kayak For Us Big Boys ...
X2 on the nucanoe. I love mine. Can easily stand up in without the slightest hint of tipping. Can even stand and paddle around. Tons of rigging options and space for gear.

To be hoest I was expecting more out of turtle but like you mentioned I was one of the minions fishing the perimeter and it was garbage. Spent more time taking weeds off the line, which would be fine Iif I caught something. I will have to give it another shot sometime next week and try the c- rig. Thanks shanej.

Kayak Depth Finder. Beating A Dead Horse.
So I'm looking to put a depth finder on my nucanoe and any decide what to get. I know that I don't need GPS, I fish small lakes ponds so not really an issue for me. I have zero experience reading one of these so that may be what has me undecided. I've been looking at the garmin echo 150 and the lowrance elite 4x dsi. Basically the finder budget max is $200. I know there two different animals so what does anyone with yak finder experience recommend. If I go di I would probably do the scupper hole mount for the transducer but not against a shoot thru hill for 2d. I have read all the posts on here and don't know what to get what's the best for a newbie, etc. also open to other options.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Got out two days in a row this week which never happens for me. Yesterday caught a nice one on a rage space monkey. Only weighed in at 3.5 but put up a heck of a fight. Fished turtle pond today and only caught two fish and I'm pretty sure it was the same fish as it was from the same spot about two hours apart. I expected a little more out of turtle but it seemed that everyone there was having a tough time getting anything. Anyone have any good spots they want to share that has some bigger fish. Not looking for secret spots or anything but can't seem to even break the 4lb mark this year. At least it was a nice day on the water.

Boating License In Maine
I could be wrong my lake is half maine half nh and nh requires it. I should clarify by license I meant safety course which in nh they issue you a plastic card that is good nation wide under nasbla. Here's a link I found for Maine. I know on the lake I am on Maine warden had asked for the card. Probably just depends on the warden. http://m.dmv.com/me/maine/boating-license

Wow you guys are getting some nice fish. I will admit after seening all of shane j and jitterbugs post it got me wondering. I had a pack of rage craws sitting around and hadn't tried them. I tried them out today with a 3/16 weight and dipped the tips of the claws chartreuse. Holy crap. I fish a lot of senkos and pit boss type baits but the fish literally were slamming these things. And they held up good too. I have not experienced fish hitting a soft bait so hard before. Ill be stocking up on these. It was honestly a whole different strike form the fish. Anyone know a place in snh that sells them or is online best place to buy? Now if I can figure out where you guys a catching the big fish ill be even happier.

Kayak Fishing
Kayak bass fishing is a lot of fun. Be prepared to be very frustrated at first. It takes some practice maneuvering a yak and fishing at the same time. All worth it when the big fish starts pulling the yak around. Its and adrenalin rush.
