Boating License In Maine
Any motor over 25 hp requires boating license. The license is an easy 8 hour course and in my opinion worth it. I grew up around boats and learned things at the class that are valuable.

Can Cops Ask You For Your Fishing License?
I just read this post and some comments have amazed me. Keeping in mind I may be biased as I am a LEO in the northeast. Where I work We can enforce the laws of the state in which I work. We have a seperate fish and game as well as marine patrol. That being said not only can officers ask for a fishing license but can issue citations for a violation and if necessary make an arrest for a violation. Keep in mind as someone posted above the 4th amendment of the US Constitution protects you against search and seizure. State laws can not be more lax on federal law, only more restrictive. If there are exigenct circumstances that may be how DNR's are entering a home without a warrant. However I question what that exigenct would be because a fish for example is likely dead in your home and not going to swim away causing evidence to be lost. The officer could and should seperate you from your home and apply for a search warrant accordingly. I have never asked someone for their fishing license that was just fishing responsibly and respectfully. If someone is being careless. Reckless etc then I might ask. I treat every person with the same amount of respect you give to me. Don't get me wrong there are defiantly bad cops out there and yes I work with a few that I wonder how the hell they got hired and have not been fired. The majority of the time if you are cooperative and courteous you will be treated the same way. If you are treated unfairly or your rights are violated, the side of the road is not the place to argue such. There are proper ways to do so, and I encourage you all to report misconduct by LEO. I personably have no problem providing an explanation of why I do what I do if it can safely be done. Some points of advice. Know the laws of your state pertaining to your actions before you go out. Don't tell the LEO you know the law because you are going to school for criminal justice, or because you have a friend who has a friend that is a lawyer. If you are illegally cited, arrested etc, use your 5th amendment right and contact an attorney ASAP. Rant over.

Buying A New Kayak!
A bit above your price but nucanoe frontier is amazingly stable and has a transome for TM. Looks like nucanoe is also fabbing up a mount for a foot controlled TM. Around 1200 new for 12 foot boat. Like said above save your money a bit longer and get a stable boat that allows you to do what you want. Otherwise it will be a dust collector that you hate.

Yum F2 Baits?
I use them, they work for me around structure. I Texas rig them both weighted and weightless.

Micro Or Standard Guides?
From my experience with veritas micros, I would go with standard. Again this is veritas specific. I have had two micros have defective guides. The guides are crooked and I think a blind monkey applies the epoxy around the guides. Abu has been awesome regarding warranty but I'm sick of being without a rod for the little bit of weight reduction. Maybe they will fix there qc issue.

Broke Rod Tip On Hookset, What To Do?
Cpbass I just heard back from abu on my rod issue. New rod on the way as I suspected. I do have to pay the 9.95 but considering its my second time replacing the rod I guess that's a pretty fair deal. Hopefully they are as good to you

Broke Rod Tip On Hookset, What To Do?
They should. My original complaint was a cracked micro guide. This time two guides broke right off while casting. I'm waiting to hear back also. I don't see why they won't send you a new one. Seems to clearly be a defect. The rod is covered by a 3 yr warranty so I'm sure pure fishing will make it right.

Broke Rod Tip On Hookset, What To Do?
They don't require you to mail the rod in. Take the picks and if it was defective a new one will show up at your door. I have done it once with a veritas and like said before I was able to repair the original rod so I ended up with two. The replacement they sent me just broke and I sent them an email with pics and info. I'm hoping I have the same response of "expect your shipment in 7-10 days". They didn't even charge me the 9.95. If you have to mail the rod back that's probably easily 25 bucks just to ship one way. I would stand by to hear back from Abu.

Klubba I went straight out off the ramp across and worked the grass to the right back to the ramp and near the docks. There was a loon nesting straight across at the grass line so be careful of that.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
Went to Onway lake today in Raymond for a few hours. Finally caught some decent fish. Caught 6 in 2.5 hours the smallest around 2.5 and the biggest just over 3. Nice launch. Seems to have quality fish in there no dinks at all that I saw. They were all over a Texas rigged senko. No fish on beds at all. Got two retrieving the worm to make another cast.

Trouble With Largemouth
I'm in snh also and struggling to catch anything at all never mind anything of any weight. I'm glad I'm not the only one. It should get better as June approaches once the post spawn bite is on. At least I'm hoping so. I have tried every technique I can think of and still nothing.

Reasonable Price For Rod Repair?
My apologies when I referenced 20 min I meant to get the old one off carefully without cutting into the rod ,not completely re apply. That does take time as mentioned above. I have done quite a few of them some came out great some not so great and I am we'll aware of the difference in using a rod tip repair piece and replacing a guide. Quite frankly I could care less what this person does. The OP mentioned the rod only cost 45 dollars and wanted advice to spend 35 to replace a cheap part of the rod and be without his rod for 2 weeks. It was simply an option that I suggested. If it was a 2-300 rod than obviously spend the money for repair by a pro.

Reasonable Price For Rod Repair?
I don't know that. What I mean by not looking so good is it is hard to get a perfect apoxy coat on unless you have a way to rotate the rod while applying. I have done it to a veritas rod which had cracked epoxy on a guide and abu sent me a new rod so I basically got a free rod so it was worth the effort. I don't notice a sensitivity issue between the two rods.
-
Reasonable Price For Rod Repair?
There is but you could always use some heavy braid to wrap it. Heat the epoxy with a heat gun or lighter and take a sharp razor blade and cut the epoxy off. Let cool place the new guide on wrap it and apply epoxy. Good as new. Understand that it will not likely come out as clean looking as a factory or custom rod but it will save you some money.
-
Reasonable Price For Rod Repair?
Why not order a new guide and apoxy it yourself. Will take all of 20 min and you don't have to spend a ton of money to repair or replace the rod.

Revo S Or Citica G
The two or three times I have pitched with it I just popped the side plate off clicked the brakes off and put the pitch brakes on. Takes two seconds. Just don't drop the side plate in the drink. Like someone said if your really unsure try the demo from TW or buy from a place like Bps. If you don't like it return it and try something new.

Revo S Or Citica G
I'm certainly no expert being relatively new to the sport and reel but the spring loaded brakes are adjustable like most brakes. Once you get it set up its nice and smooth. They engage on the longer casts helping slow the centrifugal force of the spool down in comparison to the weight your bait. The pitch brakes are clearly marked and used for pitching, short casting etc which is a slower speed braking system. I will assume the sensitivity to the braking has a more sensitive trigger point to eliminate over spool. Like others I don't have a citica but the revo is really smooth. If I am way off on this I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me.

Depth Finder Or Tm?
I know about the batteries and chargers etc. not worried about having to register with a TM the cost is minimal. I think the anchor trolly is a definite regardless so I will probablyean toward the finder first. I don't want a TM to get places but more so to fight the current and be able to move along the banks and be able to keep fishing. I like the exercise of the paddling also. What would you all recommend for a depth finder in that price range? Also want to be able to so the scupper hole transducer I think.
