  1. Congrats! New toys are always fun!
  2. Honestly, both apply for me.
  3. I believe spybaits would work on Lake Erie. My last club tournament out of Geneva the boater and I each had a spybait tied on one of our rods, but the moment each of us tried to use it the other would get a bite with a dropshot. Needless to say we abandoned the spybaits quickly. It was the old "if it's not broken don't try to fix it" situation.
  4. The Rage Tail Structure Bug. I had very high hopes for this bait, but it just never produced for me like the Missile Baits D-Bomb. I know a lot of people on this board seem to have a lot of success with it, but it just didn't work for me. I gave away 2 packs of them to a guy in my fishing club. He wasn't able to do much better with them either.
  5. Try the Rage Tail Shad! It's an amazing plastic to fish as a topwater!
  6. Get some 3/8oz jigs in green pumpkin, black and blue, and maybe PB&J. As far as brands are concerned i would suggest you start with something cheap since jigs have a way of getting themselves snagged. Check your local sporting goods store for sales.
  7. I buy it to use it. I have a $700 setup (Daiwa PX-R & Loomis GL2), and it is used more than any of the other setups I have. It just brings the biggest smile to my face!
  8. If the Diawa PX-R is still available at TW for the sale price I will probably pick up another one of them. If they aren't then I'm looking at the SS SV.
  9. I'm right hand dominant and fish both casting and spinning reels with the handle on the left side. I started fishing with spinning reels and the handle on the left, so it just felt natural to use a LH baitcaster. I think the biggest benefit in using a LH over a RH is not having to switch hands on the rod - especially when flipping/pitching. I never understood why people would change hands after a cast. It's not like you're pulling in a 50lb fish, so the "keeping the rod in my strong arm" doesn't float in my book.
  10. Try using a 1/0 worm hook with Roboworms. Those sizes you mentioned are way too big.
  11. Depending on the actual day you signed up you might get a box next month. By that I mean if you literally signed up yesterday you will get your first box in December. I believe the cutoff is to sign up by the first of the month (Nov 1st) to get that months box.
  12. I use anywhere from 4# to 10# line depending on the depth of water being fishing, and the size of the weight needed at the bottom. When fishing on Lake Erie with 4' to 6' waves in 30 FOW sometimes a 1/2oz weight is needed, and then 10# is used. In calmer conditions and 10 FOW I may only use a 3/16th oz weight and 4# test. There's no set standard.
  13. Zoom finesse worms, Roboworms, and Jackall cross tail shad.
  14. They are a very well built rod and is a pleasure to use. The "corrugated" feeling is what's called an unfinished/unsanded blank. As to how "rigid" the rod felt to you would depend on the rod rating you had looked at. I have the 7'medium action, and it's a great soft plastics rod. I have also used it for rattle traps and smaller crankbaits, too.
  15. The shining achievement for Reel Magic is that it works great to clean your touch screen electronics. For line management you don't need to look past KVD L&L.
  16. They are available now. http://duckettfishing.com/pages.php?pageid=12
  17. A skirtless chatterbait with a keitech swing impact, or swing fat impact is a great bait to throw.

I always have a bag of beef jerky with me when i'm fishing, and i just take the small desiccant packets out of the bag and throw it into my 3700's. I've never had an issue with rust yet. If it was raining on the day i was fishing I will take my boxes out and leave them open to air dry overnight.
  19. I've caught some on Reaction Strike Bass assassin swimbaits, and they'll run for way under your budget. Overstock bait has them for really cheap.
  20. Saw the name as Gia, and thought it was female. From a phone everyone's pictures are hard to see.
  21. my mistake. Thought the OP was a woman and you were making a sexist remark.
  22. As others have stated the lure you're using is too light, and the rod is not loading properly. Find some 1/2oz spinnerbaits, jigs, etc, and your casting distance will increase noticeably.
  23. I was thinking about a shakey head, maybe?
