  1. I'd ask him if he regrets retiring from tournament fishing at such an early age, and what his take is on the current realm of professional bass fishing.
  2. Off Injured Reserve and Put On Waivers. Fished what will be my last tournament over the weekend (at least I took 4th). Due to numerous injuries (neck, back, spinal cord, shoulder, ankle, thumb, and knee) and all that lovely ensuing arthritis and bone spurs, I couldn't move fast enough to get the net in time, which caused my partner to lose a big 18 plus smallmouth and first place in the tourney. Plus this year, after each tourney, I had to take the following day off from work due to all the pain. Will resign from my club this month. It's rough when the ailments affect my fishing, but when it starts to affect my partners then I guess enough is enough.
  3. Funny stories, and feel lucky your falls only involved a cell phone. Due to a bad ankle from an old basketball injury, I have a tendency to fall when I overturn my ankle. Last 3 falls within the last year, while fishing: Torn meniscus right knee, dislocated right thumb, and torn cartilage right shoulder. Now the wife always sends me off on a fishing trip with a sarcastic Don't get hurt, and my fishing club now calls me Lefty. I have a tournament coming up this Sunday, and the wife and kids are running a lottery on which body part won't come back intact.

  5. Since the goal is to catch one bass over 1 lb, and I didn't see restrictions on bait... specifically artificals. For this situation, I don't give much significance to brands. I would go with a 6'6 medium premium spinning rod, a long cast premium reel, 10 lb premium test line. And although I only use artificials for bass fishing, for this situation I would go with a 2-3 live shiner as they will catch bass in any water temperature, and almost any situation, whereas an artificial might not.
  6. I've rethought this Senko dilemma. Heck keep your Senko addiction, I think it could be a good thing. Go out and buy every Senko size and color they make. Also, did you know there is a new lure from Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits coming out called the SWIMMING SENKO, which is currently only available in prototype form. Yamamoto used the bait to flip brush en route to a 3rd-place finish at the recent Kentucky Lake FLW Tour, targeting brush in 2 to 3 feet of water and rigged the bait on a 5/0 straight-shank hook with a 5/16-ounce screw-in weight. His new Senko is expected to hit the market later this year. Below is a picture of it so you can start saving your money up now in anticipation. Now, since you won't have any room left in your tackle storage for your other lures (with all the Senkos you will amass), just SEND ME EVERYTHING ELSE you have. Heck, I might even pay for the postage.
  7. For Immediate Medical Release. The Sturgeon General advises you to perform an immediate LBH-OSCOPIC SENKODECTOMY on your buddy The Procedure: ::)While preparing boat (when buddy isn't looking), carefully open tackle cavity, :-[Extract the afflicting Senkos (without affecting other vital areas such as the Jig'n'Pig or the Tubes). :-/Place Senkos in automobile to be transplanted back into boat at a later time. ;DWhile on lake explain to buddy the delicate procedure that has taken place, and inform him that is for his own good. Stress that he must be weaned off the afflicting product, because left unchecked the condition will result in another rare disease know as Senkus Inflexiblus, which will stunt his growth. :'(Of special note: Be sure to wear your lifevest as Senko withdrawal has been know to cause forced wetness.
  8. I was told that if I want to make my own fish attractant, the formula is for every 2 ounces of cod liver oil (or any kind of fish oil such as salmon) you add 12 drops of anise oil. You can add garlic oil and/or kosher salt as an added stimulant to the mixture. I tried making it up once. Don't know if it really made much of a difference, but it didn't hurt my fishing.
  9. Mannnnn, I could have nailed this one because I almost had a psychic girlfriend... but she left me before we met.
  10. Breaklines
  11. Here is my special rig for bedding bass. I really does work well. At the end of your line tie a triple swivel. Tie about 3-4 feet of line on an open eyelet, using a lighter line than your main line and tie onto the end a drop shot type sinker. On the remaining eyelet use about 8 of flurocarbon and tie on a 3 Bass Assasin with a red treble hook inserted from the mid-section of the underbelly thru the top. This is an awkward setup so casting it is quite tricky. Cast beyond the bed and work it back until just the lure is over the bed. Make sure your weight is heavy enough that you can lift your rod tip up and down so you can achieve a jigging action without moving the bait outside of the bed. The jigging action of the bait drives the bedding bass nuts, and with the treble hook you don't necessarily have to see the bite. Give it a try!

  14. Lehigh Valley here. Fish northeast PA lakes and NJ Lakes.
  15. After looking at your idea for a while, I thought. Why not just put a tube bait (Gitzit) over it. I think the action and slower rate of fall might make it substantially different from other tube rig setups. You might need to extend the eyelet a bit farther from the cork to get it to work with a tube. Also, if you drill a hole into the cork, you can insert a rattle, additional weight, or some cotton soaked in your favorite attractant.

Here are four rules regarding women that I live by: Women marry men in hopes they will change, and men marry women in hopes they won't change (Neither one gets what they want). There are two theories to arguing with a woman -- neither one works. If a man says something and no woman hears him, he is still wrong. The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.
  17. Thanks everyone, nice to feel welcomed. Everything looks good here. I also have a new bit of advise I wish I would have followed while fishing 6 months ago (which is going to affect my hooksets for a while longer) Watch Your Footing
