  1. It sounds like you had the same problem as me with my brand new SX. I would tighten it down the whole way and the spool would still keep spinning for the most part. I took out the metal clicker and it seemed to kind of alleviate the problem. I got mine to start clicking again once I sat the metal piece on the plastic gear that makes the noise. I think you just have to mess with it to click. I don't know if your reel was new, but mine seemed to sort its self out once I made multiple casts and played with it for a little while in the yard. I may not have answered your question, I just thought I'd share with you, what mine had done. Also the clicker is not necessary...you probably already new that
  2. I haven't came across anything on the forums about these rods. They really seem appealing due to the fact that they are made by 13 and have 40 ton graphite. They are Gander Mountain rods, and if these are better sensitivity and performance than the ***, you better believe I'd use them. They go on sale for about the same price or cheaper than the ***. The MSRP is $130. So has anyone had experience with these, what do you think? Here are some features from the website: Features: • 40 Ton graphite blank • Evolve N.E.R.D. Guides with Titanium Frames • Evolve Sniper Series Reel Seats • Fast actions for superior hook sets
  3. Since you were my only response. I would assume the stainless steel guides on the Inferno will be pretty decent, they are all Fuji guides. What do you think?
  4. Anyone have experience with these (heading to BPS next month), trying to get a lot of options together and then break it down from there. How do you feel about them in terms of sensitivity and how crisp the blank is. If possible, would you choose this or the *** in terms of sensitivity, because the blank on my *** seems very responsive. I don't know how to determine how sensitive my rods are compared to others in the price range. I can't just keep buying them, because of money. I just want the best I can get. Yes I am aware peoples' opinions are all different. My Powell Inferno probably is the most, and then the *** in terms of sensitivity. Thanks
  5. How's your sensitivity on that Carbonlite compared to the Veritas/your other rods. I'll be heading to Bass Pro next month
  6. I was just thinking that! haha I'm planing on fishing with it this season, and then figuring out what I want to do, I'll probably use it for lighter jigs and plastics
  7. Compared to my Daiwa Tatula, except the weight and ergonomics, the Tatula seems like a much better deal to me now. Just thought i'd let you guys know about it. The break system doesn't seem as good as the magforce z, and you have to thumb a lot more to be safe. On water might change my perspective, but my Daiwa seems better as of now.
  8. Thanks, you just narrowed down my selections, the only one i have not felt in person is the HMG.
  9. Which rods that you mentioned, do you feel are the best in sensitivity and the obvious... The mojo, veritas (also i have a vendetta, how close is the sensitivity compared to the veritas) and both of the fenwicks?
  10. Alright, so I see a lot of things being said about stainless steel guides, and I was wondering the reason? Do they not last long? I thought it would only matter if you were to use braided line with them. Given, I'm not a tournament angler (atm), should this not effect me since I'd probably only fish just about every weekend that I could in the spring/summer. I was wondering because i bought a Powell Inferno when they came out and I really like it. It may be a stupid question, but I really don't know. Thanks
  11. I'm liking it so far, have just been casting in the yard. It's not the smoothest but the bearings seem to be the best quality that i have now straight from the factory, they spin like crazy. The only thing I don't like, is it has a little bit more play than I would like on the handle/shaft.
  12. Also weight and if it is tip heavy, is kind of big for me.
  13. So, I am still looking around for the best $100 rod I can find and stick with those rods. It looks like someone threw up on my deck with all of the different companies I have lol. After all this time I kind of forgot to take a look at Shimano's rods. I was wondering what you guys think of these in terms of the usual sensitivity, quality, response, etc. If you could compare them to other rods like the ***, Veritas, etc. I have also have not got the chance to feel a Duckett Ghost yet... That could change the game for me. Thanks!
  14. I caved in and bought a Revo SX gen3. I'm liking it so far (casted in the yard for a while). Only thing I can't understand is the spool tension didn't really tighten up that much. So I took out the little metal clicker inside, and now it seems to be working. Anyone else have the problem? It seems smooth, but not overly smooth. The bearings seem to be really fast and takes awhile to slow down. It feels like heaven on my *** 7' 1" mh though. It balances right on the 13 emblem on the screw down. So what do you guys think, if I don't have any problems, you think I'll become a Revo lover? haha (I have Lew's and Daiwa, so don't shove them down my throat either(: I've also been thinking about the Revo S, I heard it casts lightweight lures really good, whereas the SX does not.
  15. Im in the market for anything better than what I have now. I'm not to brand specific either. Probably just stick with my Omens, but I definitely want to try a new Duckett Ghost
  16. So has anyone tried any of these out? What can you tell me about them. Wondering how they compare to the "regular" $100 dollar rods like the (***, Veritas, Mojo, Jadewood, etc) in terms of sensitivity, response, strength, weight, etc. Thanks
  17. That was already checked, they're fine now, so I don't know what was going on, everything in the reel seemed to be inline. So i'm still confused haha
  18. One was an Abu Garcia, the other was some Gander Mtn. reel (my dad's.) I'm pretty sure it's made by a company called Danco. Also it took multiple times to get them to finally work before pressing the drag together, so I don't know, i kept retrying. I looked at my diagrams too. I saw nothing wrong.
  19. I firmly pressed the drag washer to the pressure washer against the main gear* sorry if that was hard to understand
  20. I had cleaned and re-lubed 3 reels, so far today. On 2 of the reels I cleaned, once I cleaned the gears and put the drag washers back on and closed up the frame. I would spin the handle and the gears would not spin. So I partially took off the side-cover, looked in and the "catch" gear was spinning and everything else except the main gear/pinion. So I took off the drag washer, applied a light amount of grease and firmly pressed the two together. Once I closed it all up again, I tightened the drag to make sure in cinched. This stopped my problem and everything has been fine. Though I am wondering, did I do something wrong and what should I do if that happens again/what should I apply to it. Thanks
  21. So I got a rod a while back. It's a TFO G. Loomis Tactical Series spinning rod (6' 9" med.) I like the rod a lot, but I was just wondering if anyone else have used them. I saw some reviews on TW of people comparing them to high end Loomis rods like the GLX and NRX (I think are ridiculously priced). I don't know if this is true or not, but for $150 would anything else match the sensitivity of these, or would there be a better offering at 150? I'm kind of thinking of trying one of the casting rods for plastics. I'm basically wondering if anyone else has used them or tried them, etc. So please give me some feedback. Thanks
  22. Anyone use Coleman camp stove fuel? I think it is white gas, almost like Kerosene. I don't think it is bad on bearings? Anyone?
  23. So after thinking, something hit me. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't use Acetone to clean PT bearings because they have a polymer cage. I heard many people ruining their bearings. So what should I use to clean them? Or what would you recommend to soak in? Thanks
  24. Thanks! I will only be using the q-tips for the inside covers. I will soak the bearings and probably the gears as well.
  25. It's the clip. I found it by the way. It was half across the room, behind me! haha
