  1. .Alright so I've been trying out many different rods, but with my slight ocd it kind of bothers me that I have so many different rod and reel combos that aren't "the same." So I was wondering with your expierence and what not which of these rods seems to be the most sensitive in your opinion. Also which one you would choose and why. *** Black (I own one pretty light/great backbone) Abu Garcia Veritas (yes I know they are a little tip heavy and may have breaking problems) Denali Jadewood (I have no expierence with these) Falcon Bucoo (I know they are light and a little underpowered, but have never fished with one) St. Croix Mojo Bass (I know they are heavy and tip heavy, but have never fished with one) Thanks
  2. Thanks guys, I was leaning towards the Lew's as I already have a lower Tourney MG
  3. Looking for a reel that will cast far, smooth, last a long time, has a good drag, etc. These are probably my two favorite companies so it is hard for me to choose. I want to know which one you would choose and why. I think i narrowed it down to these two since my last post. Also the Abu Revo SX could be an option, what do you think? Thanks
  4. Oh alright, I thought you mean't it like broke on you or something
  5. I own it, i'm aware. I was asking because he said the MG was junk.
  6. I actually own the MG, and i think it works perfectly well, feels great. What is the big difference between the mg and regular tourney?
  7. Yeah I see tackletour already reviewed it, they gave it a pretty good rating. I'm not a big fan of Daiwa, but i bet i would be if i gave them a better try. I guess it as some air rotation system and feels like no gears while reeling, which seems very nice.
  8. Alright so I'm looking at a few reels in this price range and I am wondering which one you would choose. I am aware that this is a very competitive price range, but I have a few reels in mind. They are: Abu Garcia Revo S or SX Daiwa Tatula (probably not too many have used...just came out) Lew's Tournament SS, BB-1, Tourny MG Quantum Energy, Catalyst No Shimanos (: ......Also I know there are a lot in there, I'm just wondering what would you would choose and why. Also you can recommend some others that I don't have listed. I do have some in the 120ish range too in there. Thanks
  9. Alright so I'm looking to get a cheaper fishfinder. One that is accurate with depth, structure, temperature, etc etc. I'm just looking for a fishfinder, not a chartplotter and what not. I have heard some pretty good things about Garmin fishfinders, and for the price I'm def. leaning towards it compared to Lowrance and Humminbird. What do you guys think of Garmin's and more importantly the Garmin Echo 500c. For the price ($250) it has a 5in screen, which is appealing to me, as i was looking at smaller screens in similar price by the two big manufacturers. So yeah if you could give me your opinions on Garmins and the one I'm looking at. Also you can give me some info on other fishfinders if you don't like the Garmin. Thanks
  10. Cropped, but this is a view from behind of the back of the boat up through the front
  11. It's majorly cropped but this is the back of the boat, it's all flat and open, probably 4 ft wide and probably 10ft give or take of open space in length... gotta measure
  12. Alright so after a long while we have finally got this boat, for a very low price, from a friend. It has been used in the ocean, etc. So the transom is in rough shape, but definitely usable, but we are going to repair it at some point. I was wondering what you guys think I should do/add on to the boat. We are not buying an outboard at the moment, because where we fish you can only use a trolling motor. It is a Motorguide Varimax 75lb thrust transom mount. The boat is a 15ft (i believe) trihull fiberglass, the company is an old gone company called REPH. We are planing on "gel-coating" it like that metallic grey color if not too expensive, adding fish finders, re-carpeting, etc. So I'm going to post pictures of it, and I want you guys to tell me what we should do/add on to it. Like how to clean it up/recoat the hull. Also I would like to know if you guys would recommend maybe building some storage compartments, etc. So just tell me what you would do if it were your's and how you would go about doing this. Also if you know the prices of like gelcoating, tell me if it would be really expensive or not. I know I'm asking a lot so just bombard me with random answers/opinions lol. I will post pictures seperatly because they are too big to attach Thanks
  13. Alright so I'm new to fishfinders as we just got a boat. I'm not looking to spend at anywhere near where people on here would say to. I just want one that will accurately measure depth, temp, obviously easy to read/see the structure etc. It does not have to be in color, but more preferable. I've been looking into Garmin fishfinders. They rated their lower end model the best in field and stream against humminbird and lowrance, (not saying that i should go by that.) I've been looking at the Garmin Echo 300c. I haven't really looked in depth at fishfinders/differences, but I was wondering if you guys can give me a start. I'm looking in the range of $100-$300. Obviously I'm at the upper-end of those numbers, that is just the margin. So if you could give me some tips/list on what to look for in the fish finder, also if you could give me fish finders that you would recommend in this price range, etc, etc. I'm thinking I'm leaning more towards Humminbird and Garmin. Thanks Also sorry for how choppy that was, kind of just threw it together real quick.
  14. I don't think I'll use a gripper, but since you mention the econo-scale. How does your's work, does it accurately weigh? I've been looking around for a cheaper grip-scale.
  15. Im definitely not paranoid about the hooks, I think my grips is just too loose and I rip then in really fast. I won't use a net or grip, I will always use my hand. Though Thanks for the input!
  16. That is for the most part, what i was thinking
  17. The only reason i haven't been, is because they say letting them tire out will put too much stress on them and could be bad. Though I know I could slow down a tad bit... lol
  18. Is it because I'm getting them in too fast and they're still aggressive or what?
  19. Alright this may be a dumb question, but I don't know why this keeps happening to me. So when i catch a bass I try to get it in as quick as possible because catch and release quick and properly is what i shoot for. Though I keep having problems with some of the bass starting to shake and flail once I grab them by the lip. They seem calm at first and then they start flailing and i end up dropping them. Is there a way to stop this, or should i just grip hard when they start to do that. It just seems odd that I almost never see one of them do this when a "pro" is holding one. So if you could explain this to me, give me some tips, and what not. Thanks!
  20. Pretty sure i'm just going to stick to the *** or possibly try the new Powell Inferno or Duckett Ghost when they come out
  21. I just bought the Lew's Tournament MG, to play it safe, instead of Ebay.
  22. Yea I have looked at them, but they are all out of the ratio i want. So I was looking on Ebay, does anyone know if it is safe to buy a brandnew one on there, just in case it breaks and what not?
