  1. This one is literally going down to the wire. Love it!
  2. Our club requires everyone to bring their own.
  3. I had no idea I can play it on my chromecast. Watching it now on my tv. Sweet!!!
  4. Loving it. Gets better every year.
  5. My leader goes from the first eye at the tip to a little past the last. I tie the hook and then use a 7" leader from there to the weight.
  6. Yes. Fishing a ledge in the fall from the bank. One step and I fell on my butt and slid down into the water. Thank goodness that my cell phone broke the fall. Cracked screen, bent and all.
  7. Welcome. Curious as to what upstate NY means too. I live in the Albany, NY area.
  8. I'm officially booked! Flying in on the 19th ... returning Monday the 22nd. Can't wait to put real faces to these posts.
  9. Wow ... I love mine ... own 3 pairs. One amber, 2 grey.
  10. I don't think I heard you ... did you say Green Pumpkin ...
  11. Medium action rods are a very good general rod for fishing. You can use it for shake head, drop shot, weightless senko, swimming a grub, light Texas rigged worms, smaller jigs etc.
  12. All - Too late for a co-angler to jump into the fun? I might be able to make this work. Flying in Thursday night and be there Friday - Sun. Fly back monday. Let me know and I will try and make it. I would be up for rooming with someone to save on cost too.
  13. Heading to your site now ... Crazy Flappers is on my "good boy" list
  14. Not for nothing but you may be thinking about this the wrong way. I believe any/all techniques can work no matter where you are. A lot is dependant on how you use them. Soft plastics like senkos, finesse worms, dream shots, roboworms, craws etc. are technique specific and not region specific. I am fortunate to travel a lot for work. That means I get to sneak a line in a ton of states. My "go-to's" have worked everywhere. Those include finesse swimbaits, finesse worms, senkos, and spinnerbaits. good luck.
  15. I have been trying to find the same thing for a vacation in March/April timeframe. I don't know if Raleigh, NC is too far for you but I came across this in my search. http://raleightrianglerelocation.com/post/2163665/lakes-with-boat-rentals-raleigh-nc-where-to-rent-a-boat-raleigh-nc Good luck!
  16. Missile Baits Fuse 4.4 or Drop Craw worked for me some last year.
  17. White strike king Spinnerbait. Red Eye special.
  18. This one fits me like a glove ... You have to dance like this to understand. Work hard. Play harder.
  19. I'm running out of room in my co-angler bag ... LOL
  20. On fishing mornings I prefer drinking the Muscle Monster. Non carbonated shake with protein, just a touch of caffeine and it fills me up for most of the morning.
  21. I have used the BassPro/onyx auto/manual PFD for 3 years now. At the end of the season it was due for a new rearming kit so I discharged it. Works great!!! If you watch your local BPS you can get these well under $100. They normally retail around $120.
  22. There is nothing like time on the water to learn and gain confidence. IMO they are NOT one and the same ... Learning - Take the time on the water with a particular lure and focus your efforts on what you are doing. You many not catch fish initially but you are learning how to work that bait. Maybe it feels different as you vary the retrieve. Maybe at a certain rod position you feel bottom more ... whatever it is you are learning how to work the bait. Confidence - If you are paying attention and get around fish you will eventually catch something. If you then repeat what you did and catch more confidence will eventually begin to build. What you did that day/time/place worked. The next time out it might be a different variation but when you catch again the cycle of confidence begins. Colors is only a portion of the equation and can make a difference at times. Presentation is more important normally. Be creative, be persistent and have fun. Good luck
  23. Learning a baitcaster is a personal preference. I have a friend who only fishes spinning gear and he does just fine. If you do choose a baitcaster then I would recommend a 7' M with a reel which is a 6x:1 ratio. Good overall combo to start. FWIW I began with the Abu Silver Max combo. 3 years and 8 more baitcasters later and I still use that combo today. Good luck.
