  1. another vote for Keitech FAT
  2. Did you catch the MLF lessons. He explained what he did in detail including how he used the electronics.
  3. thinking the exact same thing. Lol
  4. HA ... J Francho's response made me re-read the question ... I am thinking "How in heck do you cast a drop shot with a weight a full rod length from the hook ?!?!" My leader length begins the length between the 1st and last eye. The length between the hook and weight begins at 7ish inches.
  5. Wow ... funny because I was at my club meeting last Friday. We hosted our annual "tackle swap". One guy was selling a left handed model. Thought it was "cute" ... Never saw one before.
  6. I feel you ... I am almost tempted to drill a hole, take a flippin stick and see how many times I can get my jig in there from a distance. I might just catch one. LOL
  7. I could almost guarantee you it will be a keitech swimbait.
  8. My lucky number is 7 so the leader length generally starts there.
  9. I was surprised by this but then his very next statement was "it's so d**n effective". Very difficult to tell if he was being sarcastic. He is my Dropshot idol. Did you catch when he was talking about KVD toward the end. Stating how well he knows him and how sure he was that KVD was freaking out. On cue KVD goes flying across the lake and he chuckles. Very, very entertaining ... so funny to watch.
  10. x2. If he's a friend then ask him. I have a friend who will start off strong from the front but when he's tired we end up switching. He just chills in the backseat casting away while I run the show. He can sit back and just relax. We both win. With buddies it should be about having fun and being comfortable. Don't be afraid to ask.
  11. MLF reflects the realities of tournament angling better than Bass and FLW does. At least it does to me. So because of that I enjoy it way better. I can relate to it more. One little nugget I enjoy is hearing them dig on each other as they hear the scoreboard updates. Aaron Martens seemed to be on a roll with his commentary about Defoe, KVD and such. Funny to watch.
  12. I own the 4x and love it. It comes with everything you need except the battery. I have played with the 3x and it basically has everything my basic 4x has with a much smaller screen. If it's truly your first fishfinder then I think it's a toss up. Get what you can comfortably afford and learn how to use it.
  13. Welcome. I was born and raised in NYC. Only places I have gotten to fish for bass is Van Courtland Park and a pond in Yonkers. I always wanted to get out to Central Park. Just hasn't happened yet.
  14. Have a bunch of bigger flies I bought at LL Bean solely for this purpose. Never had luck on them.
  15. Primarily VMC hooks. Gamakatsu or Trokar IF I can get them on sale.
  16. It's all about what I can afford. As I get a chance to upgrade I do. Doesn't matter if it's a rod or reel.
  17. All already mentioned ... 1 - At a minimum I use 40lb Braid due to the diameter size. 2 - As Mike said ... good thorough cleaning (bearings and all) 3 - Ensure that you aren't overpowering the lure with the rod. 4 - If you get here then I'm no more help ...
  18. LOL ... I remember that show ... I was referring to a weekly series with the two of them. Might be too much. LOL
  19. He did it the old fashioned way ... at least according to this article. http://www.hamiltonnews.com/news/facts-of-fishing-star-dave-mercer-shares-weight-loss-success/
  20. Wow ... this is a first. I love my Pro Qualifier and don't have this issue. Could it be a defective one? Something internally which is causing the spool to slow down. What is your setup? Rod and lure ... Maybe it's there?? Maybe adding some more info we can help you better.
  21. Take it from a person who has been to a ton of DSG's over this sale (NY, PA, NC, NJ) ... they are notorious for doing this. That EXACT same braid was on sale in Yonkers and rang up "properly". My friend was at one close to home and he was in the store and watched as a bunch of people scrambled with price guns pulling things off the rack. They are either notorious for the "bait and switch" OR can't seem to get pricing straight EVER! It can be very frustrating BUT if you catch them at the right time it could be extremely beneficial.
  22. They rock!
  23. Mercer's show has gotten better over the past few years. You can definitely see how Zona's show has influenced changes in the way it is "cut". As for originality ... I think he is pretty original in his content. In recent years he has done a show fishing out of a paddle board, float tube, on the bank and of course his boat. Can't say that about Zona. Enjoy both of them a ton. Can you imagine if BOTH were on a show together regularly ... LOL
