  1. Is there a basic recommendation for what size blade for the size of SwimJig? OR is this a "size of forage" thing? Put on a willow which matches the size of the forage regardless of the SwimJig size. Thoughts?
  2. Love the DB Craw. Perfect timing for the cooling waters of the northeast.
  3. It's already getting very cold in the north ... the leaves are turning and my depression is already growing (sidebar ... sorry. ) For all of you feeling my pain what is your favorite bait to throw this time of the year up North.
  4. I base it on the #test. For finesse I use a max of 8lb so the 200 would be the vote for me.
  5. Thanks for that summary Hanover_Yakker! This is very helpful being a buff 325 myself.
  6. Another one for the Rage products. The new DB Craw is rockin' right now for me.
  7. One of my favorite movies! "...do I have time for a last smoke and a pancake or what?" LOL
  8. I was thinking the exact same thing ... LMAO. Now that I found Bacon Jerkey I am in heaven. The next time I buy some I need to throw some lures in it. I can eat and catch fish at the same time. NICE!
  9. I say it can't hurt. IMO It seems more effective in colder waters. This was my 1st year using JJ's and Megastrike and early in the year (Early Spring) I could see a clear difference between my bites in colder waters when using scent. As it became warmer it seemed to make little difference. I have 2 more tournaments up north and both products are going with me. Let's hope they make the difference
  10. I didn't mention that I do fish tubes quite regularly and seem to be very successful with other finesse tubes. Gitzit's and their jigheads to be exact. I would think the smaller profile would result in more fish and instead I have been skunked on this bait even when others are producing.
  11. I bought a sample of each tube and jig head. I have tried fishing them with no luck all season. What is your setup for using these baits? Mine is a 7' medium with 6lb fireline and a 6lb fc leader.
  12. I started at the local club level and learned a ton in year one. They are generally less expensive per tournament per se. Year 2 I began adding state tournaments. Do what your budget will allow. Just realize the bigger the events the more serious/cut throat it can be. Just be prepared for that.
  13. IMO If the flex and tip are exactly the same I don't think a single inch will make a difference.
  14. Oh boy ... see what happens when you give a boy a new toy. LOL
  15. Strike King finesse worm with a 1/8oz Mojo Rig. My favorite rig!
  16. I know I am.
  17. IMO where there is a will there is a way. I am sure there are great waters to fish from the bank if you just take the time to find them. My fav spot is about 30 minutes away. Found it last year.
  18. I agree. I use this site just fine from my android. No app needed IMO.
  19. One word ... Docks Fished there earlier in the Season and it was still the primary pattern. :-) Agree with the MLF suggestion. Just watch the one free episode and you will get a sense for what they did that entire season.
  20. I was at BassPro just yesterday looking at this Yak. It does look awesome. Seat leaves a lot to be desired though. and for the record it is a TANK.
  21. He ended up catching 3. One flipping the weeks, one on a crankbait and one on a weighted senko. Mine were both caught on a drop shot.
  22. So I had a fun experience fishing last weekend in a tournament. 10 mph winds (20mph gusts) and up to 4 foot waves throughout most of the day. The primary pattern we ended up fishing was submerged weeds in 10-15 FOW. He used a drift sock to slow us down but we still ended up moving at a pretty fast clip. I ended up pitching/flipping a craw tried the drop shot and also tried a spinnerbait. Only could muster 2 fish. How would you guys had fished this. As a note I was in the back of the boat (co-angler) if that makes a difference. Thanks
  23. IMO - In theory I agree with the comment that "5.5:1 for slow rolling, 6.5:1 for most soft plastics, 7.1:1 for burners and jigging because they pick up slack faster". However I concern myself more with Inches Per Turn than Gear Ratio. Especially if you mix brands. Example from my stuff ... Abu Silver Max - 6.4:1 Gear Ratio - 28 IPT Bass Pro Qualifier - 7.1:1 Gear Ratio - 29 IPT Abu Pro Max - 7.1:1 Gear Ratio - 31 IPT So from a line recovery perspective there is very little difference between the Silver Max and the Pro Qualifier. So decide on what technique you plan to use it for and then based on the IPT select the proper reel.
