  1. Ruger LC9, not always on my person, but always in my truck with me.
  2. Been there, done that. Having tons of tackle is cool, knowing how to catch fish on less tackle is even cooler.
  3. I fish a trail with my buddy and we use a Tracker Pro V18 with a 115. It isn't the nicest boat on the water, but it does the job. I think it is a 2000 model and he bout it in 06 for like $9,000. It is now paid off and we get a lot of good use out of it. Much easier to bang rocks or run into stumps with a boat that is paid off as opposed to getting all butt puckered when your $50K glass rig gets near a rock or stump. If it were me, I would look for something similar to the V18.
  4. If you define "Pro" as Elite series guys, then I am sure their other jobs are promoting the products that they are sponsored by. They probably get paid to attend expos, appear in ads or commercials, or even speak at different events. I know guys from Oklahoma such as Jeff Kriet and Fred Roumbanis still fish local trails during the week. I am sure most of them do something to help their income. I don't know how many actually have full time jobs, but I doubt very few just fish for a living.
  5. That red is awesome!!!!!!!
  6. I don't use it on my braid. I use it on my mono set ups though.
  7. Thanks guys. I appreciate all the input. I am always trying to learn and what better way than to get opinions from other anglers. Now, Daiwa or Shimano. LOL
  8. I was looking for that JDM Tatula and happened across a JDM Daiwa Steev that is so amazing. I think my jaw hit the floor. http://www.japantackle.com/Daiwa/Daiwa_Steez_TN.htm
  9. Just as the title says, how many different languages can you speak? And, by speak, I mean actually be able to read, write or hold on a conversation in another language. The reason I ask is because I was watching a show about globalization and understanding cultures (sort of nerdy, I know) but they were talking to a tycoon from Europe and he said " You know what you call someone who speaks 3 languages? Tri-Lingual....You know what they call someone who speaks 2 languages? Bi-Lingual....You know what they call someone who speaks one language? American....) As a Social Studies/US History teacher, I wish I could speak more than one language as I feel it would benefit me in the classroom. That being said, I feel as if a person is multi-lingual, the options for employment are almost unlimited. So, how many here are multi, or bi-lingual?
  10. I guess I did miss the point. You said you would be ticked if you had to fish out of an aluminum boat, so I took it as you were a co-angler. Maybe you should word your posts better if you don't want to be misunderstood. You are probably one of those guys with a nice boat who can't catch fish, but at least you look like you know what you are doing. When all else fails, play the part.
  11. How long do you fish a certain lure before you change colors or change lures or even change spots? If you pull up on a spot where you think the fish are at and you think a lipless is the key and you feel like a craw color will work, how long do you use that bait till you change? If you change, do you change the color of the bait, do you change to a different bait or do you move on along and keep using the same bait and change locations? Sometimes I fish the same bait for 30 mins without a bite and wonder if that is too long. Is 10 min ideal, or is 30 about right? Does your strategy change if you are using a moving bait vs a soft plastic? If using a soft plastic, how often do you change colors or different types of bait or sizes? I realize water temp, air temp, water color, etc etc etc will affect different techniques, but how long before you change it up?
  12. I used KVD Line & Lure when I had mine. Worked great and I didn't notice any damage.
  13. That looks pretty painful. I also imagine the extraction was quite an adventure.
  14. Don't let a fish go in the area you caught it, it will go tell it's buddies not to bite your lure.
  15. Plan on going to court over some stupid numbers. I bet you are a load of fun to be around.
  16. Then you shouldn't be a co-angler. Go buy a boat. You sound like other people in this world who want to ride the coat tails of others. It's like "I don't want a boat payment, but I will be ticked if I have to fish out of an aluminum boat." I would be ticked if you were my co-angler and if you said anything, you better be a good swimmer.
  17. Fish within your means. It's just like anything else in this world. You don't need a big glass boat and a 250 to compete. You may have to fish closer to the weigh in, or take it slower, but you can be successful out of a small aluminum boat. My buddy and I fish out of a Tracker Pro V18 with a 115. We placed 5th last tourney out of 26 boats and we are 11th out of 30 teams in AOY standings. There are guys fishing our trail with $50K plus rigs who don't do very well. I would hate to know I had a $500 a month boat payment for 10 years and still couldn't catch fish. At the end of the day, we are fishing in a boat that is paid off and we are fishing to see how we can compete against other anglers, even if those guys look like better fishermen than we do. Let me edit this post a bit. Some people think they need a 2,500 sq ft house to raise a couple kids in because they are trying to impress someone else. I have been GUILTY as charged with trying to keep up with the Joneses as they say, but I have really changed my ways. I saw a great quote that said.... "We buy things we don't need, with money we don't have, to impress people we don't like"
  18. I have Frabill and have been very happy with them.
  19. I would think the smaller ones would work better. Probably nose hooked or skin hooked through the belly.
  20. I missed the part where he was asking which method was more sporting. How big are the frogs????? That is what would determine what size hook I would use. I would prob fish them on braid.
  21. Apartments in general suck. Never have seen a "good" complex. Too many people in too close of a proximity.
  22. As a non-boater, there is no #2 for me. I have never had an emergency, but I have had the urge to go before. There is no way I would ask the boater to leave the spot to go find a spot to take a dump. You could possibly miss 30 min or more of fishing. As for taking a pee. If we are in a secluded area, out the back of the boat it goes. If we are amongst a bunch of boaters or in a cove with houses, then I get behind one of the consoles and go in a coffee can and pour it out and rinse.
  23. I have a couple Upton Customs that are GIANT. I'm not even sure how big they are. I haven't used them because I don't have a hook that I feel would be big enough, lol.
  24. If it were me, I would opt for a Lowrance Elite 7 HDI on the TM and an Elite 5 HDI for the console. I don't think you necessarily need downscan on the bow, but in my opinion, it shows more detail.
