Shimano Zodias rods 2020
I haven't thrown jigs on my 7'3 MH Adrena, but I would LOVE to have the 7'2 H to compare to my Expride. IMO the 7'3 MH is a different animal than the 7'2 H. The Expride feels a lot more "stout" (as I guess it should) but it also feels a whole lot faster in the tip. I wish I could get an Expride or Adrena (even Zodias for that matter) in a 7'2 H Xfast for throwing jigs.

I use the Expride 7'2 H for 1/2 oz jigs and it is a great jig rod in my opinion. I would assume the Zodias would be as well.

Some of you may have read my post about a chatterbait rod. Well if you are gonna have a dedicated rod, you have to have some chatterbaits. BTW, no, I will not be throwing them on 6lb sniper LOL

High End Topwater Rod and Reel
I throw Pop Max's, Walking baits and buzz baits on a 6'8 MH Expride with a Chronach MGL and 14 lb Sufix Elite, and I love this setup. I have the Aldebaran 50 on a 6'6 M Expride for shallow jerkbaits and it is a very nice setup as well. I have 2 Met 20's that are on texas rig rods, one being a 7'2 MH Expride and the other a 7'3 MH Poison adrena, to be honest, these reels are amazing. I have the 6'11 M+ Poison Adrena and I have used it for almost anything you can think of outside of heavy (3/4 oz up) bottom contact baits. Right now I have it dedicated to 1/4 oz ned rigs but this rod is very versitale. IMO, you absolutely could not go wrong pairing the 6'11 M+ and the 20 Metanium together and doing exactly what you are asking out of a rod and reel.

Shimano Zodias rods 2020
Yes, I guess you didn't read my post though. IMO, it is much better than the previous model (aside from the hook keeper) and probably just behind the Expride in terms of sensitivity. I would also take a look at what you want to do with it and what line you are going to put on it as to whether or not you would benefit more form a Zodias or an Expride. Money being no object, get the Expride (assuming a Poison Adrena is out of the conversation) if you are looking to save a few bucks, the Zodias will suit you well. They are much better looking than the previous model and the handle feels great! And the hook keeper sucks LOL

Chatterbait rod
Thanks guys! I am going to try it first on a 7' MH Zodias (new model) with 40 lb Sufix 832. If I don't like that, I am going to switch to a 7'2 H Zodias with 14 or 16 lb Sniper. I tried throwing one the other day with a 6'10 MH Zodias and 14 lb Sniper and I don't feel like I had enough "umph" to set the hook on long casts or enough power to keep them out of cover when fishing near or around brush and timber (which I fish a lot of). Thanks for all the replies.

Shimano Zodias rods 2020
I used my 7' MH today for a little bit. Here is a VERY short review. Rod is very light and the build is awesome. I fished it side by side with an Expride in 7'2 MH. I put a Chronarch MGL on the Zodias and the Expride sports a Met B. The Zodias grip feels great, slightly better than the Expride in my opinion. The Expride gives more feedback on dragging bottom, but they are about equal coming through brush, timber, lay downs, etc. In my opinion the Zodias is more aesthetically appealing, but I don't care for the look of cork. I don't know that 2" makes that much difference, but the Zodias just felt shorter for some reason. I know it is, but you wouldn't think you would be able to tell. Now for the part I HATE, and was probably added because it was one of the things a lot of people hated about the previous model. The hook keeper. It is in an awful spot! It is right under the foam grip which is in my way a lot when I am trying to underhand cast really quick into a tight spot. I don't mind spending $3 on a Fuji keeper and putting it exactly where I want it to be. Which I will on this one as well, but I have to deal with where they chose to put this on. I have already looked at how hard it would be to remove it and make it look good. Overall, I think these will be a hit for $200 and for what I paid for them they are worth it. However, if I were paying retail for both, I would get an Expride almost solely based on the hook keeper location. I HATE it that much.

Latest Catch Pics Thread
Only one over 3 this afternoon. Storm rolled through about 2:00 and rained enough to rain out the softball game so I was able to get out for a couple hours. This one hammered a Siebert Grid Iron Jig in black/blue with a smallie beaver trailer. Just 3-10 but I have fished longer periods with nothing to show for it LOL

The latest sale thread
Funny thing is, guys are going to order something that is on backorder, and then complain about not getting it in a timely manner. I NEVER order anything that is on backorder because they don't know for certain when they will get it and it is out of their hands.

Explain Shimano MGL for dummies like me
I have Chronarch MGL's, Bantam MGL's, a SLX MGL, Metanium MGL's and Scorpion MGL's and none of them were bought with the specific mindset that they were going to be "finesse" reels. In fact, the SLX MGL is the only one you could say even fit that category, if you consider 1/8 oz finesse. In all honesty, most people here in the states (with some exclusions) don't even know what finesse fishing truly is. Most guys think a wacky rigged Senko is finesse fishing. LOL

Shimano Zodias rods 2020
Mine will be here tomorrow. I wanted a 7' MH and a 7'2 MH but they only had the 7' in stock so I ordered 2 of them.

Baitcast: Lews Tournament Pro or Shimano chronarch
If you are willing to go $280, you might as well go $300 and get the 2020 Met B. If not, the Bantam is a superior reel in my mind over the Chronarch. I own 2 Chronarch and 6 Bantams. My Bantams are my "workhorse" reels and they feel so much better than a Chronarch when reeling baits that are "under a load" so to speak. I have never used a lew's so I cannot comment, but I would say pounds of drag would be the least of my concerns when talking about bass fishing.

Finally had a break from softball games and a couple hours to get out after work today. It is still hot and when I got on the water it was still 88 degrees. One bite in the couple hours, but if I can only catch one, I guess a 4-02 is better than nothing. First good one I have caught in a month. That time on the water sure makes a difference.

7’0 or 7’2 Rod
You will be fine with 7' or 7'2

7’0 or 7’2 Rod
I like a longer rod for texas rigs because I set the hook straight up most of the time and I feel like a longer rod gives me more leverage. I like a shorter rod for top water baits because I fish them tip down when I walk the dog and tip down when I am popping a lure. By subsurface I assumed you meant a wake bait or jerkbait. I guess technically a texas rig is subsurface but it is a bottom contact lure by my definition.

Technology
That's all that really matters then.

7’0 or 7’2 Rod
Mainly for T-Rigs = 7'2, a little bit of everything else = 7', mostly top water and subsurface = 6'10 A 7' MH fast will probably be your best bet

You can't teach courage. You can't teach heart. Etc.
This is a big part of it when there are certain things out of ones control (and this being whether or not the fish are biting) because let's face it, there are days where you just can't catch em. But if you are there more often, the chances of catching them increase. A buddy of mine who has been fishing since he was 10 (now 38)was over the other night and we were looking at some of my pics from this year. His PB is a 6-04 and I caught 5 fish in 2 weeks that were over 6-04 and he was basically telling me how crazy it was that I was able to catch that many fish that beat his personal best in just 2 weeks. I explained to him that I wasn't any better at it than he is, I was just on the water every day for those 8-10 hours a day for those 2 weeks. I spent more time in those 2 weeks on the water than he has this year total. Kind of like killing a big deer. The more you sit in the woods, the better opportunity you have at killing one. I don't consider myself a good angler at this point, but someday I might get there.

Black Color Top Water Walking Bait ?
I just ordered the J-Walker in the maverick color to try them out. I also ordered 2 Choppos in the same color to give them a shot as well. I have always been mostly white to clear color walking bait fan but I will sure give these a shot.

Weightless t-rig setup
I love these threads when I get to say, well if you aren't using a weight then it isn't a texas rig. LOL Then everyone says, you know what he meant
