  1. Yep and RC = Rick Clunn SKT = Skeet Reese KJ = Kelly Jordan There may be more, those are just off the top of my head
  2. Awesome!!!!!! Big Congratulations to them!!!!!
  3. ^^^^^This guy is correct. When I switched from braid to fluoro on my jig rod I was very disappointed in the sensitivity aspect. Then I realized that if I were fishing in wind or in brush the fluoro actually outperformed the braid in terms of slack line sensitivity. I now have different set-ups with braid and fluoro based on the conditions I am fishing.
  4. 95% of the time, if I am throwing a frog in an area, I can't fish it well with a Texas rig because I am targeting grass (heavy grass) almost exclusively. When I do throw it in an area where I can fish a Texas Rig like standing timber, I will lead off with the frog and fan cast the area well hoping to get a blow up near the isolated stumps. If I feel like the area is holding fish, I will pick it apart with a Texas Rig.
  5. I'm not, I use 10 or 12 lb Sniper on my jbs, cranks, lipless, etc. Thinking about bumping up to 14 or maybe 15 tatsu on some of them. I fish some pretty nasty cover so I need the biggest I can get away with and still perform well.
  6. Just a quick check and the Aldebaran 50 HG will hold about 100 yards of 10 lb Sniper. Nobody is casting all that off, sorry, I don't care what anyone says.
  7. You won't cast it all off if you are using 10 lb or small dia line. I can cast a jb as far as the reel will cast it and still have a lot of line left, but that is with 10 lb Sniper. I guess you would have that problem with 18 lb mono and a tail wind. I must admit though, I am not a resident long cast champion like most guys on here. LOL
  8. Zoom lizard, is there anything else? LOL
  9. No help with the rod, but I want to change my user name to Bandersnatch.
  10. I have a Aldebaran 50 HG for sale if interested. Basically brand new, couldn't tell it was used if you didn't know any better. I can send pics if interested. PM me if interested BTW, it was my dedicated jerkbait reel until I had some things go south so it needs to go. It is great, you can throw a jb all day with it.
  11. I had a Crucial that was a 6'10 MH xfast and I loved it! I ordered (about 3 months ago) a Curado 7' MH xfast that I am still waiting on. It is back ordered and I haven't cancelled my order yet because I really want to try it.
  12. I don't know, might be on the light side for the MH.
  13. I haven't went that low, but I would say it depends on if that plastic is a 12" monster worm or a 4" finesse worm
  14. Shimano Expride 7'2 MH for 3/16 - 1/4 & Shimano Expride 7'2 H for 3/8 - 1/2
  15. Rod defect, I was fishing a baby brush hog on a 1/4 oz Texas rig with 40lb braid. Felt a tap, reeled down, line got heavy and I swung away. Literally sounded like a 22 going off. I have never had that happen or seen that happen to a rod in 25 years of fishing. I was astounded. I pulled the line in by hand, I wasn't hung up or anything. The only thing I can thing is something pulled my line into some bark (I was fishing in trees) and when I set the hook there was no give at all and the rod snapped. Maybe then the line either came trough the bark or slipped back out when the rod broke. I have no idea. I am going to send it back to Shimano and go from there. I promise though, a $350 rod is small compared to other things in life that can go wrong. Trust me!
  16. Hoping you live the rest of your life on your terms and hoping you can do whatever it is that makes you happy. I always enjoyed reading your stories and I always felt you were positive through all. God bless you sir!
  17. How's this for wanting to make you cry? This piled on with everything else that happened this weekend really didn't sit well. Oh well, like I told my wife, things could always be worse.
  18. I don't have a lot of time to research, so this is off the top of my head. I think the Curado D series was released in about 06 and ran for about 2 years, then E series for about 2 or a lil longer, and the G (in my opinion one of the worst) was only like a year or so and then the I in about 2014 or so and the K in around 17 or 18. Along those years were the different Chronarchs that were mixed in (a Chronarch E was released after the Curado when the G came out and most people saw it as a repainted Curado E) Like I said, this is all off the top of my head and I am in a rush, just trying to answer when I can. I am sure someone will come along and correct me
  19. Being the admitted Shimano fanboy that I am, I will stick with what I know. I would take a Curado E series over the G or I series. I do however like a longer swept handle and bigger knobs. I have a Core 100mg, Chronarch 50e, Chronarch 200e and Chronarch 50mg that I have replaced the handles and put new 96mm Chronarch handles on with the Power Knobs. Once I make those adjustments, they are as good as any new reel in the same category to me. I like my Chronarch 50e as much as I do my Chronarch MGL's. The D series Curado is about as far back as I would go. My buddy still fishes a few that he got from me a long time ago and they are still performing well. I have a brand new still in box Bantam Curado "Tomato" that is from 1993 I think and the new reels are llight years ahead of it, but I don't feel the new reels are that much better than the D series reels.
  20. That was the toughest part of experimenting for me. LOL
  21. I use a 7'3 XH Expride over or on top of grass and it casts frogs fairly well into open areas, but I prefer a H for trying to pinpoint areas in heavy cover. If I am fishing open water and trying to get really accurate casts under limbs of right next to laydowns, etc. I will move down to a MH rod.
  22. Could be something in the spool as well causing the noise. I have noticed that 90% of the time when I hear a "grinding" noise it is almost always something in the spool.
  23. Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard, Skid Row, Ratt, Whitesnake, Warrant, etc. have probably tore up their fair share of hotel rooms, not real sure about tearing up Senkos though.
