Mega 360
Well, it's done. I got the Ultrex installed, the recessed foot tray and the Mega 360. Big thank you to @Dirtyeggroll for his advice and help along the way. I will get out tomorrow and test it all out on the water. Not a bad install process at all. Aside from not using my head anyway LOL. I can't wait to see if I like it. *Note - I am almost certain I will want to upgrade to at least a Helix 10 from my 8, but that may have to be a spring time purchase.

Waking up super early is easily the worst part of fishing for me.
Getting up for work sucks! Every morning I look out the window into the pasture as the sun rises and I just wish I could be headed to the lake or sitting in a tree stand waiting for a giant buck to walk by. Then I remember, I have to pay the bills somehow.

Mega 360
It will more than likely be more than I want to spend. I'm guessing $3,000 is what it will take if they release a "live" version of something.

Mega 360
Just ordered it today! I have done a lot of research on it and Livescope. Obviously, already having the birds it was almost a no-brainer to go with the 360. I don't expect to see the fish and throw at them like we saw Walters doing on Fork, but I do expect to see a lot more structure and cover than I am currently seeing. I consider myself a decent fisherman at 8 fow or less and far less than average at deeper water. I am hoping that this will help me key in on places I am missing with my current unit. I have been doing a lot of studying on Google Earth pro and creating waypoints and transferring them to my maps on my units by looking at the historical pictures and finding structure when the lakes were way down in years past. I hope that this will help my to fish those areas better then maybe I could. I am fairly new at this game when it comes to using all this new stuff so we will see how it goes.

What's the advantage of a T-knob?
Same, I use the 3000 size Stradic just because it comes with the T handle.

The latest sale thread
Mods, if this isn't fishing related please delete. Amazon has the NOCO boost GB40 for $69 and the GB70 for $125 These have been talked about a lot on here and they are great to keep in the truck or the boat. I have the GB70 and it has been a lifesaver a couple of times.

Jerkbait advice
Ask guys with Livescope about watching fish follow a jerkbait and not commit. Heck, just look at what Patrick Walters did on Fork last week.

Cold Weather Gear - Fishing
I will preface this by saying I consider myself a bit of a "brand snob" so to speak, so when researching something for cold weather fishing I was of course looking at Simms, HUK, Aftco, Frabill, etc. I have a set of HUK for cooler weather but nothing really for colder weather. I don't mind layering up, but I don't like having to take everything off to get to my base layer and then putting everything back on. Therefore, I was looking for a set of bibs that I could use when it was in the 35-45 degree range and be comfortable wearing them. I looked and look and did a ton of research and I came across a brand called RefrigiWear. Apparently they are used in a lot of commercial warehouse settings where workers spend a lot of time in the freezer and in colder working environments. I am not looking to break the bank with a set that I may only use once maybe twice a month for 4 months out of the year but there is no need to spend a couple hundred on these if they aren't worth anything. The reviews on them look great but none of the reviews are about them being used for fishing only hunting. I guess I said all of that to say, anyone have any experience with RefrigiWear products?

Best fishing gloves for cold weather?
I have the FM half finger wooly glove. I just got them and have only been out twice when it was cold enough to use them. Here are my initial impressions. The first time I went out it was 38 degrees and a slight wind. The gloves definitely help to keep your hands warm but I would be lying if I said my fingers didn't get cold, but that is to be expected from a half finger glove. I use sun gloves in the summer and these certainly feel different and take some getting used to. I used them to do everything I normally would: re-tie, release fish, use my phone, etc. and they didn't interfere at all. The next day it was 40 with a strong north wind and sprinkling. Here is where I messed up. I wore them from the time I got out of the truck till I got to my fishing spot, my mistake. By that time they were damp and weren't worth having on. I should have used a different pair until I got ready to fish and used these for fishing. Lesson learned. I think they will be a great glove and much better than what I have tried in the past.

Can you help me identify this on Metanium B?
Yep, and if you lose one, your drag still works, it just doesn't sound near as fancy. LOL

Lifejacket - traditional
It isn't so bad if I am just wearing a t-shirt, but if I have a hoodie or jacket or anything else on it seems like it rides up too high. Almost like there isn't enough there to keep it sitting lower on me.

I like that one...size recommendation? XL or size up?

Lifejacket - traditional
Okay guys, a couple honest admissions and then a question. I have an Onyx A/M 24 and a Mustang Elite (actually just sold it) that I had bought and I just never could get comfortable wearing them. In fact, it got to the point that I quit wearing one altogether. I want to get a traditionally vest style but I can't seem to find anything I like and have absolutely no where to go look at them in person. With the water turning colder I want to throw one on when I get in the boat and not take it off till I leave the boat. Since I fish by myself about 95% of the time and probably closer to 100% of the time now, I want to get something that can go over bibs, hoodie, jacket, etc. I wear XL shirts so I wonder if I should bump up to 2XL (I know, my fat butt should just lose some weight) or if that would be too big. Anyone still using a traditional vest style these days? Thanks, JB

Trolling motor decision
My wife is an amazing person. She spends her money on US or OUR kids, not on herself. She is always buying plants or decorations for the house, buying the kids new bats, gloves, etc. She actually never says a single word about what I spend on my hobbies. In fact, she is still driving her Tahoe that has 262,000 miles on it. I tell her all the time she should buy herself a new vehicle but she says she doesn't want the payment. She will go with me when it's hot and lay out on the back deck, but she doesn't care anything about fishing.

Braid to stretchy leader
Straight fluoro on 2 of my texas rigs and one of my jig rods. I only use them in the timber and CQB pitching. I still prefer straight braid for fishing a texas rig where I am skipping or roll casting in light cover.
-
Braid to stretchy leader
In my opinion it is. I fish some pretty nasty stuff and braid seems to always find its way into the wood. Then it gets frayed or it is impossible to break so I have to cut it or straighten out a hook. I have found the larger/heavier test fluoro to be great. I even have some 18 lb Sniper that I use on heavy T-rigs and jigs and it works well for pitching. I bought some 20 lb Top Knot but haven't had the nerve to try it just yet. LOL

Braid to stretchy leader
Oh, you switched to straight fluoro as a main line. I thought you meant a fluoro leader. I had the same experience when I made the switch to a lower lb test fluoro. Now it's 15 lb Tatsu on moving baits and 16 lb Sniper for bottom contact, with my braid still on some rigs as well. I am starting to get used to the fluoro and I like it a lot.
