  1. I dont usually say anything if I'm by myself. If someone is with me I will usually give them a heads up and say "fish or bite" or something.
  2. Looks long and thin, I would say 4-4.5
  3. I fish when the air temp is anywhere from 15 degrees F to about 100 degrees F. Anything less than 15 is too cold and anything more than 100 is too hot. But I like to fish.
  4. I have said this a number of times, I really wish they would sell it in bulk. I will try it when I can buy 1,000 yards or so.
  5. Hate to bring this old thread back up, but I have been looking for a shorter/heavier rod to do some short range pitching with jigs and Texas rigs while using a heavy fluoro line. I came across this rod and decided to pull the trigger on it. I think I will throw a Curado 70 HG on it and put some 20 lb Shooter on there and see how it works.
  6. If you are willing to guide a fellow bass fisherman just let me know.
  7. IMO, those are GREAT set-ups and should work great for what you intend to do. The only thing, and this is a big "maybe", I would do different is to add a H rod to the mix. If you ever find yourself in pads, weeds, coon tail, hydrilla, etc and you want to throw a frog or jig I think a H stick would come in handy. I have a couple H and one XH rod because I fish a lot of cover so I would feel underpowered without at least one H on deck. You may not fish this type of situation so it may not be needed. Just a suggestion. I don't know a lot about that Dark Sleeper rod so it may fish more on the H side, not sure.
  8. Have you checked the fluid? I'm an idiot, I was thinking it was hydraulic for some reason. I will try not to answer things I apparently know nothing about. I will see my way to a Shimano thread now.
  9. I have it. I use it primarily for jerkbaits and it loads great and will help cast a 110 a long ways which I prefer because I try to get them to depth with those first couple cranks. It would also be fine for cranking in open water. Grip material is not uncomfortable, it is just different and takes a little bit to get accustomed to.
  10. I cannot compare them to those brands so I won't pretend like I can tell you the difference. I will say that they seem to be very sensitive to me and I can only compare them to the Crucials, Zodias and Poison Adrena rods. I will say that I had decided I would rather have an Expride as opposed to a Poison Adrena for the cost difference. To add to that. I have a 7'2 H that I use for 1/2 oz Texas rigs and a 7'3 XH that I use for jigs as most of my jigs come in closer to 3/4 to 1 oz and I throw them in some nasty stuff. I love the Expride line of rods and would recommend them to anyone who is on the fence.
  11. Perfect rod for that technique!!! I have 2 of them and love them. I use one for 1/4 oz Texas rigs and the other for 3/8. I use 40 lb braid on both of them. Sometimes with a leader, sometimes straight braid.
  12. I owned a few of the last gen models of that rod. IMO, I think it would be a little bit underpowered for those applications in any sort of cover. Would be okay in open water but doesnt have enough back bone for my liking if there is grass, timber, pads, or anything like that near. I think it would need braid as well. I used them for spinnerbaits, lipless and squarebills.
  13. I don't try to pretend like I have a "theory" for everything, but here is what I am currently trying. I have 12lb Invizx on my jerkbait rod(6'9 Med M), 12 lb Sufix Elite on my squarebill/lipless rod(7' Med F) and 15 lb Tatsu on my Med Crank rod(7'2 Med M)
  14. This is just my opinion, but casting distance is the most over rated thing there is to talk about when it comes to reels. For one thing, a few feet here and there usually doesn't make a lot of difference. Secondly, 99% of guys are going to lie about how far they can cast anyway. I rarely ever just throw it as far as I can. Most all of my casts are at targets so I want a reel that I can dial in and control in any situation. For me, this means I am going to use an MGL every chance I can.
  15. I guess not for me. I couldn't tell you when, where, how or anything else about my first bass.
  16. Thank you! @Boomstick I can't wait to throw the spinnerbait, looks really good! I've always used Gamakatsu and Trokar so now I get to put the Owners through the paces. I just watched a TB video the other day with that GO TO color jig and thought about getting a couple, glad I have one now. Thank you again!
  17. It will work well for everything already mentioned. I wouldn't count out dragging a 1 oz Carolina Rig around with it either. I use a 7'5 H Zodias for doing just that and it works well so I know the Expride should excel at it.
  18. I got mine that I ordered on the 14th from a different retailer, but I had to pay $184.99
  19. Yay! Great fish!
  20. I've certainly desired me some fishing related items in the past so I completely understand your plight. Sometimes I think being addicted to drugs would be cheaper than being addicted to fishing.
  21. I don't know if they even make them anymore, but I had success with a Lucky Craft 1.5 SSR. Like I said, not sure they are even still in production so that suggestion may not be worth much.
  22. Well, here goes. This happened back in March or April, I'm not exactly certain. I normally don't eat breakfast on my way to the lake if I plan to fish all day because I don't want to have to take a break and go to the restroom. Well on this particular morning I was starving so I stopped and got a breakfast burrito, you know where this is headed. I ate on the way to the lake and was fishing when it hit me. No big deal, I will just go to the bathroom. I finally get to the bank and head to the bathroom and I am in a pretty big hurry as I am feeling it start to boil a little bit. I get to the door and pull on it and it doesn't open. It has been closed due to Covid (remember the time of year). So now I am sort of in a bind. I walk/waddle back to the boat and head out around a point and start back toward a cove. By this time it is getting ready to happen whether I am in a position to release it or not. I just put the poles down and opened the live well lid, pulled my bibs and pants down and let er rip. This all happened so fast it was all I could think of to do. So after the next couple minutes of intense action I started to think about exactly what I was going to do next. I had some baby wipes in the storage box beside me so the bodily clean up was okay, it was the other clean up that had me concerned. I was semi relieved because it was mostly in liquid form but I knew there were some bits and pieces in there that may be tough to remove. I couldn't just reach down in there and pull the plug so I just added a little bit of water to the well and decided to deal with it later. Literally told myself "this crap can wait". So I finished the day and then the time came to get rid of my mess. Once again, I couldn't just pull the plug so I decided to try to just pump it out. Bad idea!!!!! It pumped most of the water/watery mess out but I assume that some of the stuff got through the screen and the pump quit pumping out. I could hear the pump running so I knew there had to be some blockage. I did a little bit of reading on Google and........Did you know that you can get some of the blockage out????? That's right, you just stick your mouth over the outlet hole and blow real hard to clear everything out. So, I clean that area off as best I can with baby wipes, Windex, hand sanitizer and whatever else I could find in the boat. I made a little "barrier" with one of the baby wipes that would fit between my lips and the boat to hopefully prevent any contamination from occurring. A couple good blows and I could hear the bubbles in the live well. After about 4 or 5 times of doing this and adding water to the live well a few times I had "most" of it out. I did take the pump apart and clean it up real good when I got home and cleaned the live well screen and everything real good as well. Overall, it wasn't the best experience in the world, but I can't say I wouldn't do it again given the situation I was in at the time.
  23. I have always made it a habit to NEVER order anything that was on backorder. That being said, I went against my better judgement and ordered a Curado 70 MGL on BF so I could get the 20% off even though it was on backorder. It showed to be in stock Dec 9th. Well, the 15th came along and it still wasn't in stock. I thought I would give them a few more days. Then they updated it to Feb 10th as the new in stock date. I just canceled my order and will go back to my policy of NEVER ordering anything that is on backorder. LOL I just ordered it from a different retailer that had them in stock, even got them to price match the BF price.
  24. That's taking it to the next level. I was going to suggest a Bandit, but if you have already sued them, I guess that is out of the question.
