  1. These were all about the average today. Caught 10 that went from 2 lb to 3 lb 4 oz. These were the 4 biggest, not sure the order but a 2-14, 2-15, 3-01 and a 3-04. Just couldn't find the big ones.
  2. Okay, I lied. I said my new "picture worthy" fish was 3lbs. Well, this one went 2-15 so I called it close enough. Water was over the picnic tables and looked like chocolate milk. Tough day for sure. I talked to a couple other guys and I was the only one who had even caught a fish at all.
  3. Like a 6 pin 27 position centrifugal heaven on Earth!!!!
  4. Careful, you will upset the OP.
  5. Very similar reels for what I use them for. I haven't used either one for moving baits so I can't compare on their castability with different size lures. IMO the SLX feels better on the rod, but the Scorpion does have that "solid" feel to it that is hard to describe. I think the SLX is more forgiving when it comes to those "oh no" moments where you pitch it a little too far and need to stop it quickly, or you hit that stump or tree you were trying to land near. That being said the Scorpion takes less effort to get going. For what I paid for them, I would give the nod to the SLX if you can get past the "feel" of the reel. I did put the Power Grip R knobs and bearings in the handle of both reels.
  6. Well we have had 4"+ rain fall in the last 2 days so boredom took over and I did some re-spooling, swapping around and getting everything re-done. Ready to move forward with the season. 7. It doesn't matter what rod (tip/action) you use if you can be accurate with it. You must practice, practice, practice with whatever rod you use to get proficient with it. Every rod power/action/length etc. is going to be different in the hands of different people. A pro is going to be effective with just about any rod they put in their hands. This question is like asking what iron is best for hitting a knock down from 160 yards into a 15 mph crosswind. It depends on who is swinging the club. Golf clubs are much like fishing rods and the only way to know which club is best for someone is for them to actually go out to the course and hit them. No one can tell "you" which rod "you" will be most accurate with. That is something "you" must figure out. You have a lot of questions that could be answered by spending more time on the water.
  8. Thanks! Yes sir, it was a good time
  9. Well, I had to try to dodge the rain today just to find a place to fish. Rain was moving south to north across the state so I decided to head to the Southeast part of the state and fish McGee creek. I had only been there once and it was a LONG time ago so I had no idea what to expect. It was pouring when I got up but since I had about an hour and a half drive ahead of me I finally left about 8 this morning. Got the boat in the water at 9:45 and took off, not knowing where in the world I was headed. I fished a place I had found on the map first as it was pretty flat and I hoped to find some that had moved up shallow. I fished there for about 30 min and decided to move. When I got up on plane the rain hit, and it was raining hard. This went on for about 30 min and then it cleared off. The next stop was in a long creek that looked promising but it was DEEP, so I trolled around the point looking for where it leveled out. I saw some still water up around the bend and made my way to it. Water went from 30 ft to 15 ft and slowly to 7 ft. I saw the glass like water break with a splash and I knew something was chasing bait. I grabbed a 110 +2 in sexy shad and first cast, bam, fish on. It was a 3-4 and since 3 lb is my new "picture worthy" size I was going to snap a pic. Since I was by myself I didn't have everything set up so I tossed him in the box and cast again. Bam, another one, not as good but no slouch. In the box he goes. I fished for another 20 min and had 5 in the livewell, 3 over 2 and 2 over 3. I decided to get them out and take a pic and get them back in the water. Ended up catching 5 more off that point, all on the 110. Moved around and caught 2 more on a spinnerbait before the rain and wind won out. Not going to win any tournaments with those 5, but not bad for a short catching frenzy.
  10. Only one today was camera worthy. Lake was about 4 ft high and they were tough to find. This one came on a Greenfish Ballistic HD spinnerbait in sun fish. Just 4lb 1oz, but way better than the others I have been catching lately. Need the weather to get right here pretty quick.
  11. Should have just watched the BPT. It was cold and windy on the water. Only managed 2 fish and they were non-scorable.
  12. Sorry guys, I am heading to the lake in about 30 min. Went yesterday and caught about 15 smallies, just couldn't get any size (at all). Going to a different lake today. Weather isn't real favorable as it is 44 degrees and a N wind about 12 mph, but you can't catch them from the couch.
  13. I'm guessing the people who lives will literally be changed forever and for the worse, will disagree with the "well darn" theory.
  14. We have heard one week after spring break is highly likely, two weeks is possible. Might put us going into June. Not sure how much truth there is to that yet, but 3 weeks off during the spawn sounds pretty sweet to me.
  15. One of my good friends works at a refinery here in Oklahoma. He told me that it costs them more to make gas with ethanol because they have to buy the ethanol and then the equipment it takes to refine it (or whatever they do to it) costs more to operate. Still don't understand why it costs so much more.
  16. Well my girls softball tourney was canceled last night so I came home and loaded the boat and was ready to head to Fork this morning. My buddy that was going to go apparently got the Keystonelightvirus last night and he didn't make it this morning. Guess I'm going to go have some pancakes and wait for the rain to subside and find a lake to go to. Maybe I can make it down there before Wednesday. Won't get to watch a lot today, hope they slay them again.
  17. Christie with a 10-4 and a 9-2, wow!
  18. Jeff Sprague just caught a 4-10 and said "That's a Facebook 7 pounder" Haha
  19. Well it didn't take long for a big one to be caught. Fletcher Shryock with a 6-01 just under 2 min in. Roy Hawk caught a 16 in practice, could be some big ones caught this week. March in Texas, doesn't get much better. 6-05 and a 6-12 been caught already. Dink fest lol
  20. I told the kids to be prepared to use their old socks, our extra tp is going on ebay. LOL
  21. Fat impact, sweet beaver, fluke, blade minnow, no real rhyme or reason on which one I use, but I will usually throw one of these on.
