  1. I have owned both and here is my opinion on each. The Chronarch is smaller in the hand than the Curado but a little bit longer in the front end. This is mainly due to the side plate of the DC being slightly larger. The Curado DC is a great cast and crank reel. It excels in the wind more than anything with the DC braking system. It is not "backlash proof" but it will certainly reduce accidents when fishing in the wind. For my use the Chronarch MGL is more of a refined reel that was better suited for bottom contact presentations. I sold both of mine in favor or the Bantam MGL. It does everything both of those reels do. It is a workhorse at cranking but it also does a great job when pitching or flipping. It doesn't like ultra light weight baits, but that would be the only thing I would say it doesn't do really well. In fact, I might even go with a Scorpion MGL in place of the Curado DC.
  2. Some of them have a 6 pin 27 position braking system.
  3. A lot of people do though, that's why he asked the question.
  4. Go with 832 instead of the Performance, you will end up buying it later if you don't now. The 832 is a much better line and yes, I have used both.
  5. I have the 7' M Split grip model. It has a lot of backbone and I use it for deep cranks and light swimbaits. It is a good rod and comfortable to throw the R2S Tactical Bassin cranks on.
  6. And this thread is specifically about braid.
  7. Of all the Shimano reels you listed, the 12 Antares will probably be your least favorite reel you have. Like you, I wanted one simply because it was an Antares. It is no where near the reel a Bantam, Chronarch MGL, or even Curado DC is. If I were you (I am not) but I would just splurge for a 19 Antares. The 12 might be good for deep cranking (which seems like that may be what you want it for) or throwing a swimbait, but all the other reels you already own will do a better job at 99% of any other style fishing. JMHO
  8. Shimano Bantam MGL would be my vote but I have no experience with the Lews reels. I do know that they have a 6 pin 27 position adjustable braking system though.
  9. I really don't care LOL If you use the search function you could read for hours and hours and hours and hours.
  10. Stradic I think you may be on pace for most threads started in one day.
  11. I go fishing to catch fish and I find myself frustrated when I don't catch them. It is like a game to me and I am mostly playing by their rules so it is nice to try and beat them at their own game. It is a hard game to play sometimes though.
  12. "I've had em break through the ice to hit a topwater" not really, but I have heard that. I too like to wait till the water hits about 50, but consecutive days of sunny weather can change my mind even when the water is below 50.
  13. A zero line card and autochart pc or pro is what I think you will need.
  14. Glad you are happy now, but you were upset enough yesterday to start a thread about it, so it appears their customer service still isn't very good. You just happen to change your tune in 24 hours. Kind of like getting a bad pizza from Papa John's and telling everyone about it and then coming back and saying, well Peyton Manning called and they are going to give me another pizza to try. Still doesn't change the fact that the first pizza wasn't any good.
  15. The RES are really bad about it but if you are throwing them in and around rocks, they will all do it on the nose end. I liked the Xcalibur lipless (now Booyah) but have since switched to the Spro Aruku and they seem to hold up a lot better than the RES.

  17. Expride, no more replies are necessary
  18. I would lose the leader all together and use that for just about anything you want.
  19. This was it today, yep just ONE. Pretty embarrassed that I couldn't figure them out. This one was 3 even.
  20. I would go with the longest rod you can for strippers.
  21. Bite was TOUGH today and it was WINDY!!! I can't wait to get the power poles in and put on. I did manage to get this big girl to take a spinnerbait. I didn't measure her but she was short and fat. Weighed 4-15, should have put a couple weights in her LOL
  22. Buy a Bantam MGL, much better reel IMO and what you can get them for now is almost too good to pass up.
  23. I use mine for 1/4 oz Texas Rigs, and I love it!
  24. Does it make any noise when you are reeling it under normal fishing conditions or just when reeling at Mach I? Still not sure what I am supposed to be hearing. I originally thought line, now I think it's in the handle simply from the violent nature of the reeling motion.
