  1. I don't know if this was on spinning or baitcasting gear, guessing bc because of line size. Anyway, 16 lb is pretty heavy for a weightless presentation in my opinion. Also, being on a bc it may be that your rod is too stiff. I almost always use a weight on any type of soft plastic, but on the rare occasion I don't, I use a 6'8 ML spinning rod with 10 or 15 lb braid.
  2. He asked if it was possible to have a replica made. He didn't need any other remarks. Sorry, unfortunately some of those guys are grouchy.
  3. Seems like you are the only one trying to do so. Everyone else is just participating as the title says.
  4. He didn't ask if he should get one, he asked if it was possible.
  5. Thanks! I have heard getting the old carpet off is maybe the hardest part and also the most important.
  6. I know you are maybe the smartest person on here, but just because a fish weighs a certain amount doesn't mean that every fish on the planet that weighs that amount is the exact same length and girth. You do realize that don't you?
  7. Technically the same can be said with anything in life such as expensive baseball bats don't make one a better hitter, expensive golf clubs don't make one a better player, expensive shotguns don't make one a better shot but those things can make the sport more enjoyable to the person using that equipment. When I was in college a $200 baseball bat was super high end, now my daughter plays on teams with $400 softball bats and she's 11.
  8. I'd tell him to do what makes him happy.
  9. Research, research, research. I had good detailed pics and knew the weight of my fish. I failed to get length and girth measurements though. Even so, there are only a certain number of forms that any particular taxi is going to choose from. I talked to 3 different guys and finally decided on a form. Also finally decided on a guy based off some pictures he had online and his price being that he was within a reasonable driving distance and saving me on shipping costs. The fish he posted online looked great, but I guess I wasn't aware that maybe they didn't look like the fish they were supposed to look like. Long story short, I got mine done and it looks nothing like the pics I have of my fish. I am going to take it to have it re-painted by a different guy here pretty soon.
  10. Well the leopard print was on back order so I am going with charcoal carpet and black/charcoal seats with a charcoal center console, all from Bass Boat Seats.
  11. "Online for free" sounds like an oxymoron to me, at least when I pay my internet bill it does. LOL
  12. Beginning today we have about 4-5 days of not so great weather ahead so I figured it would be a good time for the next project on my boat. I will be attempting to install new carpet and seats. I will not be doing this alone as I have hired a guy who has done a few boats to help me along the way. I did most of what I could today without his help and he will be here tomorrow to help with the carpet part. Mainly got everything ready today. A couple before pics and one from the end of the day. All the hinges are loose and everything, I just sat the lids back in for now.
  13. I bought one of those rings from TW (Daiichi Seiko Finger Saver)that has grooves on it to use. Worked great, "worked" as in past tense since I seem to have lost it.
  14. Retail Shimano Poison Adrena 7'3 MH - $359.99 Shimano Metanium - $419.99 I didn't pay near that though
  15. I use Plano rustrictor boxes and really like them, especially for baits with skirts that tend to take a while to dry out. I don't know that I am a firm believer that it prevents rust, but I haven't had any issues "yet".
  16. Sorry, I don't buy the "NEVER". I would venture to say it is just about impossible to "NEVER" have a dig in. Never made a bad cast? Never hung up on something and tried to pull it free?
  17. A lot of good suggestions, but anyone who says they "NEVER" have braid dig in, doesn't fish very often, or doesn't throw it where the fish are. A nice hard hook set on a big fish with braid and you will have dig in and it will stop in the spool at the point where you set the hook on the next cast
  18. We use some of those at the fire station and they have lasted longer than some of our newer more expensive brand (not throwing anything under the bus) ones.
  19. I guess it depends. Do you spend more time fishing or reading about fishing? I have come to the conclusion that more people sit on the computer and talk about fishing and what will or will not work as opposed to actually getting out on the water and trying things for themselves.
  20. That has been said on here plenty of times.
  21. Noco genius 3500 - Can be found for a little bit over $50
  22. I did mine with the boat on the trailer. No special jack or milk crate or sky lift needed. Took less than 5 min.
