Put together a good one today. I was scheduled to have a video conference with my superintendent, principal and colleagues at 9:30 this morning. My plan was to be on the lake fishing by 7:30 and take a break at 9:00, drive home for the conference and head back to the lake after the meeting. Plan was going good as I was on the lake by 7:30 and lines in by 7:45. It was 45 degrees with just a slight south wind. Once again I went straight to the Sweet Beaver in Low Blow. On my third cast I was able to catch a nice 2 lber. Good way to start the day I thought to myself. I made my way down the bank and threw into a small pocket. Hop, hop and the line started moving. I knew it was a pretty good one when I got a look at it by the boat but I figured a boat flip would suffice. As I got her over the side of the boat I noticed she had a big ol belly on her. She wasn't very long but a healthy 4 lb 13 oz. I made my way around the point and landed a 3-5. By this time it is about 9:00 and I had should've already been headed to the ramp. I made the executive decision to troll to the very back of the cove and set the spot lock, get my RAM mount for my phone and just set on the deck and do the meeting from there. I logged on and everyone was in their dining room, living room, study, bedroom, office, etc and I am just sitting there in the great outdoors. My principal said to someone, "Is Coach Bryant fishing?" LOL. Anyway, after an hour long meeting I was back to fishing. First cast after the meeting I landed another good one. About 11:00 the wind started blowing like no other, I mean it was WINDY!!! I switched to a Greenfish Tackle Ballistic HD spinnerbait in Sun Gill. I was able to catch a number of good fish from then till about 3:00 when I gave up before the batteries did. I set a new solo PB for a 5 fish limit today since getting my boat in December. Weights were as follows(not in order by picture) 4-13, 3-10, 3-5, 3-4, and 3-1 for a total of 18 lbs 1 once.

What should I do with this rod?
I'm not a big frog fisherman, but I throw them on a MH rod with braid. I use the MH rod so that I can get a little bit of give when they hit. I tried a H rod and I would always pull the frog away from them.

What should I do with this rod?
Small swimbait or punching is about the only techniques I would use it for. It really wouldn't fit the bill for anything else I use.

Weather was a little better today. It was still a cool 49 when I got to the ramp about 9:00 with a North wind about 11 mph. Morning bite was pretty good and they completely shut down about 1:00. Caught everything on a soft plastic (sweet beaver to be exact) in about 2 ft or less. Once again, just me catching 3 lbers LOL. Not sure the order but these were 3-1, 3-3, and 3-6. Still waiting to catch big momma though.

Lipless Hook Set Question
Any crankbait just gets a sweeping action from me. No "hook set" as one might attribute to that of a jig or texas rig for example. I may be in the minority here, but once I feel the weight of the "bite" I sweep the rod and wait for a reaction. If there is a reaction on the other end of my line it is then that I begin to reel. If I don't feel anything then I relax the rod because more than likely I am hung up in the grass, brush, wood, etc. I almost exclusively throw a crank in or around cover or structure so this is what I have trained myself to do.

Knot for Braid Straight to Hook?
LOL, no one really has to worry about either knot failing when tied properly using braided line. I assume we are still talking about bass fishing here.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
Poor, poor Gary. First he had to offer a "limited" edition series of rods for his loyal customers to give their feedback on so he could determine if he could actually put them in to production. Now that the Covid has hit he is having to give such a discount to his loyal facebook super duper members only secret page. I sure hope he is able to make it through since no one will buy rods from him.

EXECUTIVE ORDER
I will take my chances, or I will just tell them I'm on my way to get some new furniture since those are on the "essential" list. Of course, that wouldn't have anything to do with money and people in charge now would it? Also, I would request they make sure I am kept at least 6 feet away from any of the other inmates, for my personal safety of course.

EXECUTIVE ORDER
When they order a statewide shelter in place, I will let you know what the fine is because I am going fishing.

Well the weathermen called for a 90% chance of rain and thunderstorms off and on throughout the day. I figured I could watch the radar and maybe find a chance to get a few casts in today. The rain stopped about 7:30 this morning so I went and got drinks and snacks and some ice and headed to the lake. Got to my spot about 9:00 and within 10 minutes I had a nice 2-12 on the board. I could see the rain and storms coming from the south but figured I had a little bit more time. About 10 minutes later I hooked up with one and it gave me a ride into the sticks and I ended up losing it. As the thunder got closer it started to sprinkle, and then rain a little harder and thunder a little closer. I drove to the nearest restroom, parked the boat on the bank and took shelter under the porch. I watched the radar and figured this one would pass and I would be able to get back out there. After 15 minutes or so I was back on the water. Went back to the place where I left off and within a couple minutes I had a 2-15 in the boat. I could tell by the sky that she was about to open up. I fished another 20 min or so in the pouring rain and heard a loud clap of thunder and decided it was time to go. Made the run across the lake in the rain and sat in the truck for about an hour when I finally decided today just wasn't going to be a good day to be on the water. Oh well, a couple to show for it and there is always tomorrow.

OKLAHOMA GET OUT, IF POSSIBLE
Ha, I fished Konawa today and at 6:45 this morning there were 39 trucks/trailers in the parking lot of the city ramp and about 50 when I left at 2:00. I would guess there were 70 boats on the water at least. That's a lot of pressure for a 1,300 acre lake. You couldn't look in any direction without seeing at least 7 - 8 boats. I agree though, the bass are heating up.

Today was an interesting day for sure. Got up this morning and fished a jackpot at a lake that I have been doing good at so I felt pretty confident about the way things would go. Well, we missed a couple fish early and only ended up with 2 in the livewell by the time it was ready to head in. We decided not to even weigh in and drove home with our tails tucked. I told my wife we didn't do so hot and we were headed home and she told me that her and the girls were headed to home depot. I told my buddy that the day was still young, so let's go to a different lake. We got to the lake about 3:00 and by 5:00 we had caught 5 fish for 17 lbs, LOL. He caught a 4-8 and I picked up a 4-6. I missed one that I think would have been bigger but who knows. Only fished till 6:00 and caught 8 so all in all it was a good day.

Seeing ripples and what appear to be fish on the surface
I see that you are in Oklahoma, 99.9% chance they are carp this time of the year.

Wind
Never really thought of that. Thanks. Of course, these days they might be reluctant with the Coronavirus going around.

Bass Boat Care Essentials
Being black, I would do it right after you pull out. Just a quick wipe down for the trip home. I usually use BTS, but I picked up some Meguires Quick Wax to try out.

Bass Boat Care Essentials
I'm also new to owning a boat, but I can tell you what I do. I try to spray and wipe mine down from above the rub rail with BTS after every couple trips. I do everything from the hull, seats, instrument panel, steering, everything with it. I use 409 carpet cleaner and a deck brush to clean the carpet about every other trip (depending on how it looks), this doesn't really take as long as one would think. I try to take it to the car wash and give it a good cleaning when I see a little bit of build up of haze on the gel coat below the rub rail, seems like this depends more on conditions of the roads more than the lake. If there is water on the roads my tires will throw the road gunk all over my boat. This is what I do and I am sure I am doing something wrong, but my boat is a bit older and I assume my cleaning regimen would be different if I owned a brand new one.

What’s missing here
I doubt anything is missing, just looks like there are holes there for different options to mount the steering arm (I doubt that is what it is called) to.

Wind
5-10 Hahahahaha! The forecast tomorrow is 25-40 mph winds and I'm debating on if that is too much. If I could get someone to go with me, it would be no problem to fish in. My only concern is unloading and loading the boat alone in those winds on the weekend. I don't like to be in the way of others so I try to avoid solo trips when I think the lake will be busy.

I was at the local lake bass fishing yesterday and as I was leaving I had a little birdie tell me the crappie bite was good. I hadn't actually fished for crappie in a long time, but I was going back today to bass fish and I took along the smallest spinnerbait I could find, a little H&H in white, to see if I could catch a slab. I would bass fish the banks and if I cam across some old submerged bushes I would toss that H&H in there and see if I could find any takers. I found a few and amongst those were these two beauties. A 1-15 and a 2-03. Biggest bass and biggest crappie weighed the same LOL

Tiger King (Netflix)
Good morning all you cool cats and kittens, if you didn't get that then you haven't watched the Netflix series Tiger King. Being as that I live just 20 miles from where part of this story is set it really was interesting to see what all actually went on. Joe was pretty much as he is portrayed in this show. I had only been around him a couple times and he was "interesting" to say the least. Just wondering how many have watched this since we are basically home bound. BTW, not everyone from Oklahoma is like the people on the show, just some of us LOL

Best overall hard bait company?
Probably SPRO for me, aside from not having a topwater popper I like there cranks and lipless a lot. If not SPRO it would be Megabass simply for the 110 and Pop Max.

Apparently I simply cannot catch anything but a "3 pounder" lol. These were 2-14, 3 even and 3-3. I just cannot find any big ones. Oh well, I can't complain.
