  1. While I do agree that waiting to feel the bite is almost a must to have a good hookup ratio, I think having some stretch may help at times. That being said, I use 50lb braid so maybe I don't buy it either.
  2. You are asking the wrong guy, lol. I have been a Shimano fan from the earliest full cork Crucials to the eva ones, the red Cumaras to the black/gray ones, Cumulus, then on to the Zodias, Expride and Poison Adrenas

As someone who HATES chasing down a bad wire on a trailer and rarely hauls in the dark, that would be nice.

Pardon my ignorance here, but I am assuming by law you have to have a tag on the trailer? We don't have to have tags on our trailers here in Oklahoma so that is why I asked the silly question. If that's the case, yea I would take my chances and get the tags when I could. Hopefully there are bigger fish to fry than some guy trying to take his kids fishing.
  5. I would start with Shimano. There are a lot of good folks here with a lot of knowledge, but we can't tell you what Shimano will do. Start there for help, then let us know what they said.
  6. I have Zodias and Expride rods and the Exprides are better than the Zodias line, no doubt about it. That being said, as long as you stay at about 1/2 oz or under the 6'8 MH Expride is worth looking at. I have this rod and it is very nice to use for short casts, pitching, or in your case skipping. It has more backbone than my 6'10 MH Zodias rods as well. I have no experience with Dobyn's just giving you what information I can.
  7. Maybe he found his answer already. The thread is only 10 years old. *Edit* He must have, he hasn't visited in 9 years.
  8. Well if every one around you was jumping off of cliffs...................LOL I also say they are both useful tools and have their place but if I could only choose one it would be a baitcaster.
  9. Always use the blue if you want to ever loosen it up, otherwise use the red. Different thread locker?
  10. Yea, because the post that brought it back was very informative.
  11. I'd pay $3 to have a retired/archived forum where posts that haven't been replied to in over 3 years are in "read only" mode so as not to be brought back to the top when no longer relative.
  12. No offense, but not everyone wants "that look", and some people prefer a more professional look. I have the Quality Mark step and when I first got it I thought it was great. Don't get me wrong, it does the job and it is pretty nice, but that being said, my friend just got a Trick Step and that thing is super nice. I will probably end up with one of them.
  13. Well maintained and cared for Vettes hold their value well. Well driven Geo Metros are hard to get rid of.
  14. That is an ethical choice that you have decided to make, just make sure you don't try to push your ethics on others. I will still bed fish.
  15. A couple new items arrived. Finally got the Met 20. Put it on a 7'3 MH Poison Adrena, pretty sick setup. Next is the 6'6 M Expride paired up with a Aldebaran 50HG for Jerkbaits, light weight is an understatement on this one.
  16. I have a black tungsten wedding band. Got it real cheap on ebay. It certainly isn't a fashion statement. It is just easier to wear a ring as opposed to carrying a big stick around to keep the ladies off me.
  17. You could go into the store and swap tags on the rods. LOL I'm sure some here remember that guy.
  18. When I started reading I thought this was going to involve someone taking a dump. Come to think of it, there was no mention if someone had or had not taken a dump.
  19. Great, another toilet paper shortage coming to a store near you.
  20. Nope, the lake closest to my house is a good one and only about 900 acres. I have caught a bunch of good fish out of it. Up until a few years ago it was a relative secret. On a nice Saturday or Sunday in the Spring there may be 8-10 boats on the lake. Fast forward to this Spring and there might be 30 boats or more on the lake and all of them in the arms and creeks. One or two guys catch some good ones and post on Facebook, then a couple more do the same and before you know it there are FLW guys here filming and posting on Facebook. Cats outta the bag on this one. The last time I was there I went to the back of a creek channel and there was another boat in there. Within about 2 hours there were 9 boats in there. I just left and went to the house. It's not as bad during the week but I avoid it on the weekends now. Not really a big deal, but if not for social media and people bragging I think it would still be a small secret.
  21. You must not want the canoe fixed very bad since you post on the tackle purchase thread so much. LOL
  22. I just bought a 6'6 M Expride for jerkbaits on the auction site. $225 shipped
  23. Wait till you start trying to sell all those Dobyns rods.
  24. I have the Poison Adrena 6'11 M+ and it is a FANTASTIC rod! I have used it for 110's, lipless, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, squarebills, medium divers and I even tried it with 1/4 oz texas rigs. It absoluetly excels in every way. It casts anything with ease and has just the right action for moving baits, especially slow moving baits. I know it is above your price range but I was just throwing it out there in case you found a deal on one.
  25. There are a lot of good squarebills out there, as you are sure to see by all the replies you will get. You will more than likely find one you like over time once you get out and fish with some. I guess if you really need an opinion, right now I am on the Spro, 6th sense, Megabass kick. In the past I have used SK, LC, Xcalibur, Bandit, Rapala, etc. In my opinion it is a confidence bait much like a lipless, or any other reaction bait, they all work at one time or another and the only one that works at any particular time is the one on the end of your line.
