  1. Thanks! I haven't had the chance to catch any of the coverage.
  2. I'm going to say what I use and bet that I am in a small minority. I use 18lb Sniper and here is why. I want them to run deep and I know thinner diameter is better, but most of the places I fish have timber, brush, etc. in places where I want to throw them. I tried 10lb and if I got snagged there was absolutely no getting it back. I then went to 14lb and found that it got pretty nicked up after some use and I was worried about breaking on a fish. I switched to 18lb a month or so ago and I haven't had much chance to use a deep crank since, but that will soon change. The couple times I have thrown them I have noticed a couple things that I do not like. First being casting distance. I want to really bomb a deep crank and noticed that I did lose some distance especially into the wind. The next thing, and this is something that is probably more of a mental thing, but I don't like the size of the knot. It seems bulky and if I get near grass it catches it. In open water this isn't a problem but if I am getting it in the grass it is a pain. I have some 16lb I can try if I end up not liking the 18.
  3. I sure do wish Birge and Skeet would get to fish for the chance at BB. I assume they don't, unless they changed it? They could just go out and throw giant swimbaits since they know they are in the championship. I guess they think that could be an unfair advantage but I think it is unfair to deprive them of a chance at $50K.
  4. I guess I would define one target different than some people would. To me, one target is a stump, laydown, boulder, etc. I would define grass, pads, coontail, etc. as an area. By my definition, I may throw at a single stump 200 times or more I would guess. I have never counted casts, but I have spent 30 min or more on one stump. Now an area, I will spend hours in an area not more than 100 yards long if I know it holds fish.
  5. I think they do work better in cold water. I prefer to switch to a Spro Lil John MD when the water warms up after the spawn.
  6. I've lost more MB 110's than I really want to think about. Not once did getting in the water to retrieve one cross my mind.
  7. I throw them on a 6'10 M Zodias casting rod and it handles them just fine. Edit* Using 14 lb Sniper
  8. I thought it was $25K BB for Group A, $25K BB for group B and then $25K for the qualifying round and $25K for the championship round.
  9. Aside from the lens aspect, make sure they are comfortable. Try them on if you can. If you wear a cap while fishing, try them on with a cap. Nothing worse than buying a pair of glasses that end up hurting your head after a few hours. I wear my sunglasses for 8-10 hours straight so they MUST be comfortable.
  10. Got on a few good ones finally. They were up in skinny water which really surprised me since the water temp was 84 degrees at 7 am. These were caught in 4 fow or less. I went old school and caught them on a 7" power worm in green pumpkin. I haven't thrown one in years, I think that will change. Biggest went 6-14 followed by a 5-5 and a 3-10. Still couldn't get that 20 lb 5 fish limit and ended up with 19-2. Had one jump and throw a frog that would have put me over, but that is the way it goes.
  11. Easy question, "what is the best baitcaster for $100" LOL In all seriousness, it would also be where to find bass when the water warms up and the temperature soars in the summer. With the water temps here hitting 84-88 and the day time temps reaching 96 it has been VERY difficult to find them and I am certainly not finding them in bunches.
  12. Booyah Pad Crasher or Spro Bronzeye Frog - Topwater Speed craw or baby brush hog - Texas Rig Rapala DT 10 or Spro Lil John MD - Cranks Sorry, had to just narrow it down by technique Probably about to move to a little bit deeper water and throw a ned rig, DT 16 and a 3/4 oz swinging jig head with an 11" worm
  13. 3 lbs is a nice one in my book. That being said, I was fishing in my Speedo the other day and a lot of people were yelling "NICE BASS", not sure what they were talking about though.
  14. I use the 7'2 H Zodias for throwing frogs and it does an excellent job in my opinion. It loads well and casts them about as well as you could ask for. I like a little give though and that's why I like it over an XH. Of course the last XH I used for frogs was a Mojo Bass and it felt like a broom stick. I am sure the Expride would be different and based on the Exprides I own it would be a great stick as well. I always have a frog tied on so I guess you could say this is a dedicated frog rod but I use it for jigs as well.
  15. Didn't you just start a thread almost identical to this a few weeks ago? My new Met is far superior to the 16 I had.
  16. Night and day comparing the two. Yes, the 2020 is worth the additional $100.
  17. For what it's worth, the brakes on Shimano baitcasters have nothing to do with using a braid to fluoro leader or straight braid for that matter.
  18. Last thing I really needed, but I got such a good deal on 2 of them that I had to get them. Put this one on a 6'8 MH Expride and spooled it up with some 16lb Sniper to throw some 3/16 oz texas rigged soft plasics. Put some work in with it today and I like it. Still think the new Met is far superior but this one will do the job.
  19. It's getting hot here in Oklahoma and the fish are lethargic and on a soft bite, you better be on your game to catch them. I was lucky enough to get a few to bite today including these 2 good ones. Nothing giant but a 4-01 and a 3-11.
  20. I love catching fish, but I love catching big fish even more. The only thing better than catching big fish, catching them on top water. These 2 came off a Booyah Pad Crasher in Bullfrog. They went 6-8 and 4-6
  21. Scorpion MGL would get the nod for me over the SLX
  22. Someone from TW just messed up the listing. Bearings are the same.
