Just to start, 2/3 of my winches have had problems now. I'm fishing as we speak, I cast out just like every other time - But this time I hear a SKREEEECH/Grinding came from the left side of my spool. I quickly reel in and nothing feels wrong. I go to cast out again, this time instead of just hearing the nice zzzzzzzzz when you cast out, its combined with an almost wooshing sound. Did I blow my spool bearing? Weird thing is, I gained like 10 more feet casting distance. Still using the reel and nothing seems wrong except that wooshing I'm getting when I cast out now.

Well ya, I know she was a big one, but I didn't know it was that close to the record. I catch about 5-6 smallies around 7-8 1/2lbs every year where the mouth of the Petawawa River meets the Ottawa river.

My mind was blown the first time I saw an MJ rig.

Yep, in the Ottawa river. It was an "incidental" hook up fishing for.... walleye.

Honestly I don't use lipless cranks enough to really have an opinion. But they're all paired up with St Croix rods (LTB Big Cranker, Magnum Cranker and a 7'2mm old style Legend Xtreme) and they balance really well.

Its all on you what you want to use, I have 3 G3 Abu Winches now for my 3 cranking rods and have no problems.

My main lure are KVD 2.5 squarebills, Sexy Shad and Black Back Chartreuse (caught my PB small mouth on it today actually 8lbs 3oz)

So I thought I had this problem figured out, but its still making the noise. I own 2 G3 Revo winches, one of them makes this grinding/clicking sound when I cast out and the other one doesn't (I have the mag brakes off on both of them). I swapped the side plates on them and the one that wasn't making the noise with the other side plate is making the noise now and vice versa. Anyone know what I can do?

Cant say anything about the BB1, but I own 2 gen 3 winches and they are work horses.

All of my finesse fishing has been done with a spinning rod. Im going to get a TBC71MF for shakeyheads mostly. I usually use Abu reels, but I don't think they have a finesse type reel. mostly using 1/8-1/2 shakeyhead jigs.

So you figured it was, it was the cam lock screw. But why would it make that noise, I had it tightened down with my thumb before - I used a flat head to make it a little more snug and the noise is gone.

I cleaned the whole reel top to bottom but its still making the noise when I cast, I find that if I put the mag on abit the sound isn't as loud. (Wasn't really that loud in the first place, just annoying)

Ya I tried the same set up with all 6 brakes. Gonna go check what u just suggested. Btw whats a brake race?

So I have my gen 3 winch set up with 15lb invisx and I use it for squarebills, but every time I cast it I can hear a "click click click" from inside the sideplate with the brakes. I have my mags off and 2 of my centrifugal brakes set on (opposite of each other) Anyone know why its making that sound?
