    Wow...nice fish!!

  3. My gas gauge is crazy like that too. Its never really accurate.
  4. Welcome aboard! Alot of our members are hard core yakkers, you will fit in just fine.
  5. Dang, sorry to here that. Sounds like you earned the 248k. My experience with diesels has been a good one so far (as far as work goes) i know that the mainentence and upkeep can be more expensive, but i generally look at the big picture and i really do think that the pros outweight the cons.
  6. That is alot of miles, but not tremendous for a diesel. Our work trucks are diesels and they really arent broken in until you get 125k+ im not knocking the accomplishment of being above to reach the high mileage, but thats kinda one of the benifits of a diesel. I mentioned in a different thread that i am considering a diesel, and not really because i am constantly hauling anything heavy for long distances. But for the Longevity it brings, and the strength and power to do whatever i want..and it would actually improve my fuel mileage from where it is now.
  7. Good stuff Tom. I will agree with Wakeeaters opening line "men are creatures of habit" I think alot of it boils down to comfort. I found a brand and model of reels that I really like that i think is a great value for what i pay (lews tourney pro) so to save me alot of time and money, i just buy them. I guess that is loyalty, however, it doesnt stop me from buying another quality reel if i find a deal that is at the price or less than i pay for them. My loyalty only runs so deep, id love to find a Shimano Core or another Daiwa Zillion for a steal. The same with rods, i buy Powell rods because i feel they are the best for my money and i am Comfortable with what i get, thats not to say if i see a deal on a Dobyns Champ, Loomis, Cumara, St.croix, ect...that i wont jump on it. (I actually bought a cumara recently) I guess i have a majority of two certains rods and reels but my Loyalty is to my money and to my family. I am in the group of guys that is manily looking out for their dollars and i find comfort in a couple companies price point and value. ...but i cant speak for everyone.
  8. really the only thing outside of worms and some craws thay I put on a finesse jig head is a Big Bite Baits Warmouth. It is basically a sunfish profile that is rigged side ways. I tried it t rigged with an 1/8th and 1/4 and didnt really care for it. But then i tried it on a 1/4 finesse football head and i started getting bit. I just started using it last spring and caught a bunch of bedding fish with it. I plan on trying the rage shell cracker this way also....and of course i do throw grubs on a standard ball head..this is a panic box technique for me.
  9. X3. Once you get it you will never look back. My work boats (carolina skiffs) have throttle control accel, and i cant stand it when the water gets rough.
  10. Just pitch the bait out to the same places that you would anyother bait, and let the little guy guy do all the work for ya. A cheap trick ive done, before u flip ur bait out, drop a dozen live shad out of your shad barrell in the lake. (If your in the right spot, youll start a feed frenzy)
  11. Theres so many ways to skin a cat--heres how me and my buddies do it. Remember, you are still bass fishin, so youve got to be able to get on the fish. Same places that you would fish shallower. First off if im fishing live bait, it is live shad. I like to nose hook them with a #2 or #4 bait holder hook. And then i "free swim them" the reason i use such a small hook is so that live shad can carry the hook around awhile before he gets gased. Use too big a hook and he wont go far.
  12. Thanks man! That something i havent thought of doing. I like your seats alot too, mine are the originals in a 1996 Javelin and they dont have the first crack in them, i mean they are in excellent condition...i want to "update" them but i really have no reason other than wanting something a little sexier. Super nice tho!, any other upgrades coming soon?
  13. I like that alot! Where did the steering wheel come from? I may have to copy cat you!
  14. Hes a freaking waste of God given talent. I honestly think he is mildly retarded. And I say that with all seriousness. This guy doesnt have the sense to get out of the rain. He is an insult to midly retarded people everywhere. he cant study film, cant read and run a play chart, hes a one read quarterback, he cant make decisions for himself. He had a small staff of people that HE hired. One was a tailor and one was a jewlery consultant. No sooner than i laugh that off, i read about the cough syrup crap... hes got about as much business on an NFL field as i do in KVDs boat.
  15. The local tackle shop here has had the same two Halo rods on the shelf for the past year or so. I dont know anything about them. Unless they are available at dirt cheap, I would look to a reputable company that has alot of users and reviews. Thats just my opinion. You should be able to check the reviews on TW
  16. I dont disagree with RoadWorrrior, but i havent used YoZuri. Alot of guys on here swear by it and ive heard nothin but good things about the way it handles and its strength. I think it would def be a great option and it has a price tag that is easy on the eyes. I like using braided line and fluoro leaders on spinning gear. I use SpiderWire Ultracast but it is expensive. (23 bucks) Spiderwire Stealth and Power Pro are pretty affordable tho and they are good lines.
  17. I can go either way because i use both methods, like Fly said, you can see you like much better. A little slack with braid is good for the hookset because with no stretch you are likely to send the bait flying out of the fishes mouth. But when im skipping under docks, i like fluoro better becuase i can feel the bite better since im using using a finesse jig with a super slow fall. That way i can feel it on the fall better get a quicker set so i can go ahead and get him out from under the dock better he gets me wrapped up. Thats why my "skippin rod"thats is spooled with straight fluoro Edit: notice i only said a little slack line... i didnt watch Mercer so i dont know exactly what hes doing. I just like a little bend.
  18. Did they have any more Buccos at that price. If that were me, i would have snatched them up and i would have stopped by lowes on the way home and got some PVC to ship them in when i sell the ones i dont want.
  19. Pride makes us blind to keeping an open mind. An open mind will feed it self and grow, a closed mind will remain in the dark and will become frigid and irratated to new thoughts. Our sport is always growing. And techniques come and go and products change, its good keep an open mind of both the neww and the old and an understanding of why they work. the learning process is not a destination that we try to get to, but more like a life long journey to become a better fisherman. My journey will end, when i stop breathing
  20. I dont smallie fish, but i do use cranks and jerks often for largemouth. Basicly what i do based on the season, time of year and pattern i adjust what goes in the boat. Im not confined to space either. Winter and early sping i do not limit my jerkbaits very much. I have two 3700 boxes of them and will take them both. Cranks on the other hand, i have several boxes and i will considate into a couple boxes. With my favorite colors at the depths at which i think will work... When im pond fishing or on the river in my small jon boat, ill basicly grab a two different sizes in ghost minnow and a clown like color. Cranks, two or three for each depth, chartruse black back, bluegil, red craw, sexy shad and blue back herring color. I like the pointers and rogues. Cranks, i like spro fat jons and bomber 6a and 7a

Olympic arms!! Just kidding... Bushmaster!! Duh!!
  22. One of my favorite fishing buddies died back in 2011. He was a fishing guide for crappie, striper, and multiple saltwater species. He was a big time believer in pink. He would use these little pink crankbaits for crappie, pink buck tails some times for stripers , and ive seen pink buck tail hair on his flounder rigs just above the live bait. Ive seen those little pink cranks pull in some big time slab crappies and white perch.
  23. Over 3 years dealing with them and my order was only mishandled one time. Thats good considering i order a couple times a month. And the one order that was mishandled was when i purchases over 500 bucks worth and 6 packs of soft plastics werent sent out. I called them and they confirmed that they already caught the mistake and had already sent them out. And in couple days i received them. This was during the christmas sale, so i completely understood that they were busy and that there is a human element to it. Other than that i havent had an issue...and to be honest, i wasnt that upset, seems that they were on top of it. Customer service has been very polite and informative everytime ive called with questions. I have bought several rods from them and all of them arrived in good condition.
