Heading To Lake Okeechobee...rent A Boat? Pay For A Guide?
If the total cost difference is only 100 bucks, why not find a reputable guide and let him introduce you to the lake. So your next trip you will be pretty equipped mentally for that Lake then renting a boat would be ideal. But renting a boat and going for it is ok too.

Jackall Lures
Pros - Jackall is def top of the line. I love their soft plastics. Jackall has a high attention to detail and very good designs. Their baits have extremely good action. They flat out catch fish. The crosstail shad is one of my fav lures. Cons- The plastic they use is pretty soft and does tear up more easily than some of the domestic soft plastic that we use so often. If you get more than one fish out of the soft plastics, you are doing well The are also more expensive. Overall- great baits, on a typical day ill use my less expwnsivw baits but on a hard day or if it was a tourny or freindly competition. I would not hesitate to use em

Best Drop Shot Reel
Echoing these other guys, first find your price point. Find the reels that fit, next thing to think of is reel size and what size line you plan on using and what rod your gonna put it on and is it gonna to balance well. I like a 2500 or a 2000 size reel for the most part a use it for various light line and finesse applications. Shimano, pflueger, and Daiwa make some pretty darn good spinning reels are various price points. And there are several other companies that make quality reels to meet your needs, I am trying not to point to any one manufacturer. However, I can personally say that I have a couple of Shimano Stradics that I love for my finesse fishing. Is it the best? Who knows but I know it works for me. My preferences and my budget... The rest is for you to figure out.

Oddest Fishing Spot You've Fished?
[quote name="Red Earth" post="1432761" timestamp="13900 as for oddest spot i fished, i guess it was a creek under a bridge. it was probably 10 feet across and pretty deep looking. i remember catching some nice white crappie over 12 inches in the creek. i never wouldve guessed that place had fish like that. about a year later a friend of mine wrecked his souped up mustang 5.0 a half mile down the road from that creek while running from the police. he slightly went off the road, lost control in the grit/gravel there and hit a telephone/light line pole and had a transformer fall on top of his car. if he hadnt wrecked they wouldve never caught him though. he had to spend a couple weeks in Duke hospital...

Shaky Head Advise
Before it wad all the rage and before it was called shakey head fishing, I used to buy the Gamagatsu long shank ball jigs from wal mart. I would put a trick wprm, finesse worm, or a robo worm on and skip docks and flick it out in shallow water areas.... It was really all there was to it.... Now I've got it down to a much more exact science. I use the Piccaso Shakedown heads as well as the Tungsten takedown heads. For starters 3/16 is a good size.

Opinions On A Live Bait Rod?
I do not have first hand experience with them, but my best friend has a few of the Abu Garcia Volitile rods and he uses them for striper fishing with live shad...

What Are Good "scouting Lures"?
Any bait that I can move at a fair pace and cover the depth of water that I beleive the fish are in. For me it really depends on time of year and what the fish are doing. My two most common search baits or baits that I employ the most for this purpose is a jig and a lipless crank. But it could be a day where I'm switching up between a spinner bait and topwater walker or a small wake bait or slim crank bait...so it really can be anything... Gotta use your head and give the fish what they want.

The Road To The Super Bowl

The Road To The Super Bowl
Marshawn Lynch is probably on the same level as Chuck Norris. Haha. Won't be long before there are a bunch of corny one liners about him. Dude is a beast and one hell of a running back.

I Want To Talk About Terrestrial Baits
The yellow and black spro frogs are in a duckling pattern. A buddy of mine swears by them. The live taget rat gets thrown around a lot on my boat with decent results.

The Road To The Super Bowl
Knowing what you have to do and being able to do it are two different things. Saints gonna need to pack a lunch. Its funny, Cam has done nothin but grow as a player, become more humble, become a leader, and one hell of a clutch player...especially in the 4th quarter, and he still can't out run the silly names and lables. I've been as critical as anyone on Cam but he has made a beleiver out of me. I'm really excited to see this young man grow as a player and a person. Really excited about this game. It should be a slug fest.

Beaver Style Plastics
Between the two choices given, ill go with the 4.5 wooly bug. I've used both and dont really have any complaints That being said, I feel that there are better beaver baits out there

Anyone Tried The New Powell Timax?
Ive saved most of my per diem money from 2012 and I was thinking of spending a little on a new high end rod and the rest on updating electronics. Just wondering about that rod. I have a boat full of Endurance rods. I don't really care for the handle of the TiMax but I am still intrigued... If not Powell ill probably go with either a StCroix LE or Loomis glx

Is It Gawdy?
Ok, I was reaching. and sorry for snarkiness. But it sounded ridiculous to say it was gawdy, but that if he wrote some Br articles or made some videos that it was ok to wear it. Apologies pal
