  1. ok, so the drop part is critical i assume!! yeah i don't want to go as far as to say bfs necessarily, but i'd like to be able to cast some lighter lures (1-8 - 1/4 maybe) for sure and would use this reel on my 6' Lucky craft magnum rated down to 1/16 (though i wouldn't be going that low) when fishing the river in NC for smallies. do you have any experience with this spool? either the aluminum of magnesium? if so, what line type and size would you throw on it? obviously i'm a newber deluxe here so any info would be more than appreciated!!
  2. no, but one of buddy's dad has said that i should a few times now... you fish the etowah? if so, better than the hooch for bass (not the striped kind)? very good stuff from both of you, i appreciate the info.... i'd like to put in up river and float down to wherever i decide and then have my wife pick me and my buddy up with my truck, that would be ideal. i think i might float the known stretch once more and really pay more attention to the time it takes to cover the distance and get me a better idea. like scott said though, may be 4 may be 10! i've pulled up to the ramp at dark a couple of times now, which was not my intent either time! thanks guys!
  3. that's really why i ask because it's been out for a little while now, but you can't find a review on it anywhere it seems. looks like a beauty, just wonder if it performs up to your expectations given the price point.
  4. I've fished the same stretch of the chattahoochee river enough now that i'd like to branch out a little bit. BUT it can be a little tough to find many access ramps south of the city where i would like to go. I've found a couple that i would like to try, but have no idea really of how far the stretch is in comparison and therefore have no idea how long it would take to float from one ramp to the other. Is there some type of resource out there that can help me gauge not only the distance, but perhaps the time to go said distance if the water discharge is at X or Y? I can easily find the water discharge info online so that wouldn't be a problem. If not, i may just have to pack some snacks and a sleeping bag just in case! Thanks for any help!
  5. that's pretty b@d@ss man now you can shank somebody with a piece of history!!
  6. i love throwing a frog, no doubt about that. BUT i also had a lot of fish on the megabass dog x last year.
  7. only a couple of weeks (shhhhhhh my wife might see this)
  8. HOLD ON A MINUTE...... someone actually owns an archangel??????
  9. i just lol'd pretty hard! great visual!
  10. yeah, i don't know if i believe you man.... mind sharing the coordinates so i can a little investigation of my own?
  11. Thanks Mike. I was looking at one that is used so I didn't want to take the guy's word for it... I may have to find a dealer and ask them, then give it a shot if it might work. Glad to know it will drop right in though. Thanks!
  12. pro qualifier is the army tank of reels, it just keeps on rolling. i believe it was forum member @Goose52 did the most comprehensive review on the PQ you'll ever find! maybe he can link to his thread.
  13. yeah a milk crate or a bucket or something of that height to stand on. i find that an overhead cast for me is just wild and inaccurate and leads to more backlashes than i care to admit. the sidearm, roll cast with a smooth momentum is my most accurate method for casting. i am not the world's best caster, believe me, i just know the overhead cast is not my best form.
  14. sounds like a dreamy combo to me.... line type / lb test might be better answered by what types of baits you intend on fishing with this combo?
  15. WHOA, that's cool ghoti!!
  16. you will not lose any feel, but rather preserve your high grade cork for years to come
  17. i too would opt for the ML and like farmer says it will fish like a more all-purpose M rod from other brands
  18. i like yozuri and mccoys, want to try the izorline sometime soon. spinning 6# and casting 12# will get the job done.
  19. ^^ this if that doesn't immediately fix the problem, i'd leave the water in and try the heater/blow dryer suggestion.
  20. Dave, sometimes i wonder if i couldn't have bought a decent boat for all the work i've done on the 2 kayaks i've fished out of (neither of which were a hobie)!!! That said, I love fishing from the kayak!
  21. i used some of the shelf liner too, glued to the lid and was skeptical at first.... aside from the occasional cross contamination on the smallest items in the box, it's nearly a perfect solution to your problem!
  22. EWG for bigger chunkier baits for me, but if i can get away with using the worm hooks, i much prefer using them.
  23. i was going to say a small hair jig, basically a float-n-fly.
  24. welcome to the party! Mike's top notch, in work and customer service.
