I'm taking a 9 day trip to Sam Rayburn on the 18th of May. Just trying to get some info from people who fish it. What types of lures and colors should I be bringing with me? Also if anyone is feeling generous could you tell me a few spots to go to. I'm staying on the south end of the lake near the dam. I've heard the north end is good but I've never been so it's all new to me. Thanks BR

I own both and can't tell a substantial difference. I like the carbon handle and the flat black paint on the TP but it's just cosmetics. Both have duel braking. The TP is 1 ounce lighter and has 1 more bearing. You'll be happy with either one.

It has eggs so it's a female but I know what you're saying. For this body of water a 5lb bass is about as good as it gets. I've heard of a few 7lb but not many.

Oops I hit the wrong key. I guess I should proof read first. I meant 6pk and at my local shop rage craws are $6.50 + tax for a 7pk.

I just purchased these exact craws from an Ebay seller. The claw action is awesome. No it's not a rage tail but when a 5pk is only $4 it's hard to beat them.

I have the 7'2 and 7'6 casting rods plus 2 of the 6'10 spinning rods. It's a tad heavy but with a heavier reel it balances fine. They are the cheapest rods in my arsenal and I'll buy more if the lineup expands or I break one.

I'm a lefty or I'd probably have one. I've fished both a team pro and team gold of a friends. Just casting to see if I could force myself to like a rh retrieve but I can't do it. They are nice. I own all Lews reel except 2 out of my 8 combos.

You pretty much missed the point of my entire post but ok. The reels I buy are new not 2nds. I didn't say I wouldn't put it against any other reel over $100. The curado is the one always brought up. I will however argue that the team Lews won't touch a $600 reel. $400 maybe but 6 no way! Daiwa Steez is under 600 and embarrasses it.

Of those 3 the Veritas. Just be sure to check the guides are straight and no cracked epoxy around them. Falcon bucoo micro is a good one to look at also. 7' mh

Berkley 100% FC is good. I run sniper FC and love it. Tried P line and hated it. #50 power pro braid on most of my stuff though.

Yes the 1.5 and 2.5 are both shallow divers. It's also not a bad idea to use a crank that goes deeper then the water your fishing sometimes. Bang it off the rocks,dig the bottom ect. Also they are good around structure like laydowns. Bang it off limbs and pause for a second. A lot of reaction strikes come from that.

Sounds like you may have gotten one that is way over lubed. Though most reels are some are worse then others. I suggest pulling the spool bearing and soaking it in acetone and adding 1 drop of oil before reinstalling it on the shaft. I was using a 1/2oz swim jig with twin tail grub trailer today with my tournament ss. I had 2 cent. brakes set and 2-3 on the mag brakes. It was rather windy but still had plenty of distance.

In hindsight I would of just bought 2 group 27's but I went with the 29 cause I was taking the boat out the day after I bought it. I knew it would be big enough for Deep Creek Lake which allows the use of outboards and that's where I was headed. Wasn't thinking about other places due to the excitement of buying a boat. I just wanted to get off the bank and fish. After getting used to it and using it a few times I wanted to make sure I'm plenty covered in the battery department. I've had the warning alarm sound on my fish finder 1 time previously when I had it set at 6 volts. Is it overkill now? Yes probably so but now I'm able to fish all day and not even have to give a second thought about the battery running dead. Tight lines

I bought my 85 Fisher with 40hp merc for $1,200. That was with trailer and ready to fish. It's setup just like a bass tracker with decks and everything. Came with a #55 bow mount motor guide and cheap hummingbird fish finder. I'm at 2k with it now. Bought 3 new batteries and some extendable paddles. Boat and motor cover. 2 seat posts and 2 leaning posts. 2 rod racks. All things to winterize it. This also includes my tags and registration. For my 1st boat it's more then enough. I'd like to get one with more storage and a rod locker. Plus a larger front deck.

Shipping is even included and no taxes. I'll put them up against any used $100 Curado. No I haven't used or owned any high dollar reels $300+ I've used a lot in the $100-200 range. Shimano,Abu,daiwa,pflueger,Lews,bps,ardent ect. I like what I'm getting at the price I'm paying with Lews so I stick with Lews. Always seems like the Shimano crowd aren't willing to accept the fact that Lews are going to give them a run for their money. Just like the Harley guys arguing about jap bikes. Chevy Cobalts are also built in the same factory as a Chevy Corvette. This doesn't mean they use the same parts. That's for whoever that guy was.

Not exactly understanding what you are meaning. Are you saying that I'm cutting into their life span or ?

It sounds to me you've kinda answered your own question. Maybe the Shimano's and Abu's are more user friendly for someone who is still learning. I don't know your level of experience with casting gear so this is just a guess.

Their customer service is excellent. I purchased a BB1Z*** from a seller on ebay and after one outing the rubber coating started peeling on one of the paddle handles. Never had this on any of my other Lews reels including BB1 models so I called Lews and explained what was going on. She took all my info and I received a new handle in the mail shortly after. No questions asked,no money exchanged. This is why I stand strongy behind them. Not only do you receive a great product at a fair price but they will take care of you even after the sale,from them or not.

I have 7 3700 boxes. The thin ones. Misc. 3/4-1oz-chatter baits-punch hubs w/ skirts-extra jig heads. 1/2 swim 1/2 other style heads 3/8 swim 3/8 other style heads 1/4 swim 1/4 other style heads Organize from dark in the top row down to light. If I'm out on the boat I take them all. If I'm on the bank I filll a 3700 box with what I want and stick it in my tackle bag and put them back when I get home.
