  1. 1016 spool arrived on Saturday. Tamed the reel alot and was a great upgrade. Can't wait till the boca bearings arrive.
  2. Regular power pro#20 and #50 for years with no trouble. Both casting and spinning. Actually converted a 65-70 yr old man I fish with.
  3. Yup line to hook is the only knot I have to tie. Plus it's a Palomar so it's an easy one at that.
  4. Ewg hooks allow room for the bait to collapse and get a good hook set. Straight shank won't. I fish then from shore all the time. It's my favorite bait to pitch around cover.
  5. Same as everyone else. 3/16 or 1/4 tungsten weight and a 4/0 wide gap hook. I use the mustad kvd grip pin hooks. I noticed with Gamagatsu after a few fish the bait would slide down and bunch up on the hook. These eliminate this from happening. More fish out of 1 craw bait.
  6. Here and there at night. I think they just key in on the sound. But I usually throw black.
  7. Cavitron black on black or the ghost minnow sometimes.
  8. Went with the 1016 spool after talking with them. Thanks for that info quitlimpin. They said it's just a great overall upgrade for the steez all around.
  9. I actually spoke with them today. That's who I ordered my bocas from. Yeah I know people swap spools in the 100 to make it more finesse oriented like the 103. I'll call tomorrow. Thanks for the tip though.
  10. Yeah I got it cheaper then the pliers. Are they using it for the 100 though? I know the 103 is for lighter baits and people change the spools in them. I'll search it a bit.
  11. I decided to get a set of boca orange seal abec 7's for it and I grabbed the hedgehog studios spool pin tool. Lets see how it does now.
  12. 1/4 - 1/2 tungsten bullet weight or sometimes a lead mojo weight in 1/4 or 3/8 if it's weedy. Black plastic bead Black metal clicker Clear Carolina keeper Length of line Hook and bait As basic as it gets really
  13. Gammy offset worm hook in 3/0 or 4/0 for worms Gammy ewg in 3/0 - 5/0 for everything else. Mustad kvd grip pin in 3/0 - 5/0 for craw baits
  14. Daiwa steez 100hla on endurance 723. T rigs and pitching soft plastics or weighted flukes, shallow cranks Daiwa TD-Z 100shl on endurance 723. C-rig,buzzbaits,spinnerbaits,traps *** 7'3 H and Lews TP for frogs and heavier pitching Okuma evx 7' M with okuma trio 30 for wacky or drop shot rigs I just sold my boat so I'm stuck on the bank. The first 2 combos can cover a days fishing for me. I'll take the others in the truck but hardly get them out. I have about 7-8 others but I seem to always grab my 2 favorites.
  15. Can you recommend a cheap spool pin tool? I made my own with a pair of smooth pliers by drilling a hole in one side and a dimple in the other. They work but not as nice as I'd like.
  16. Yeah a drop of oil made a big difference. I'm happy with it now. It's paired with a powell endurance 723 and it's just a joy to fish.

  18. It's been gone over that l&l doesn't help braid. I think it's in your head.
  19. Yeah it's an awesome reel I was just kinda sad at first it wasn't casting as will as my zillion. It's fixed now. Wish it was 7:1 but I guess I have to fork out for the ex if I want that.
  20. Added a drop of tri flow to each spool bearing and distance has gotten a lot better and now I had to up the brake settings. Before I was throwing a senko on 4/0 Gamakatsu super line hook with a 3/16 tungsten weight and my brakes on 3-4.
  21. This is just putting a band-aid on the problem.
  22. Any of you steez guys upgraded the stock spool bearings to boca orange seal abec 7's Was it a noticeable difference and worth the money? Also any other good performance enhancing upgrades such as a different spool? The reel is super nice and feels very solid but as far as casting I wasn't blown away by it. I think my zillion does just as good of a job if not a tad better. Thanks for any input BR
  23. I spooled my new Steez with sniper FC yesterday and got hung on something way out there about my 3rd cast and had to break off. Ended up breaking off again later on pretty far out. Had to re spool when I got home. It's fishing, stuff happens!
  24. I have it and the 7'6 plus 2 spinning rods. It weighs more then the max and endurance. It's not super heavy but noticeable. Takes a heavier reel to balance it out properly or it feels tip heavy. The sensitivity isn't bad. Obviously it's a $50 rod so you can't be expecting too much but it fishes better then that really. I'd buy another if mine broke.
