Reel Quality?
Just like everyone said it all depends on what you want/have to spend on a reel. I try to set a budget of around $150 for a reel and $100-150 for a rod. You can get plenty of quality stuff in this range.

13 Fishing Rods
I have the 7'3 H for frogs. For a $100-120 it can't be beat. Unless something better can be bought on sale or used. My only complaint is if you fish with just your pinky below the trigger it starts to hurt in between your fingers. At least it does for me but I also have fat fingers. They're true to their power rating. Look really good. Also pretty light and sensitive. That being said I'll end up owning another one.

Ticked Off!!!
I use Sunline sniper but it can be expensive. That being said the Berkley 100% fluorocarbon is pretty good stuff. Depending on what you fish braid might not be a bad choice either. Also as mentioned step up to a higher test 17-20

Tackle Bags

Thanks Again Cavitron
I went out 2 nights ago and we all tore up with buzzbaits. We did the same last night but it was too windy so no luck. If it fails keep trying. This thread made me a believer.

Maryland's Who's who!
Piney Reservior was on last night here in Western Md. Between the 4 of us we caught 22 fish all on buzzbaits. Waded out knee deep and fished for about 1.5hrs just up and back a stretch of bank. 3lbs + was my best. Blew up on it about 5ft to my left. Scared me half to death in the dark.

Thanks Again Cavitron
Tonight I was getting ready to leave and two boys showed up that I know from the local tackle store plus a friend of theirs and his dad. They told me I was leaving at be best time and they were killing them on buzzbaits last night. So I decided to stay and fish with then for a bit. Between 4 of us we caught over 20 bass. Black on black cavitron was my choice and I caught 6 with a best of 3.5lbs

Best Baitcaster Rods For $100
*** black if $100-120 was the budget and nothing better was on sale. That being said. www.thefishranger.com has Powell's on sale for $109 with an over the counter lifetime warranty. It's a better rod on sale for the same price as the *** retail. I own an *** and will eventually get another. Would of been my last purchase but the Powell's can't be beat at $109 so I bought it.

Lews Tournament Pro Issues
I use no mag and 1-2 tabs on depending on weight of lure. If some wind I'll use mag on 1-3 and keep the cent. the same.

Rod Advice!
6'3 is very short. Most casting rods will be 6'6 at the shortest. I'd go with a 7' mh/f rod. The academy ethos rod has been spoken of highly and is pretty inexpensive.
-
Micro Or Standard Guides?
^^^ braid is better on a casting reel. Actually helps with backlashes from what I've been told. Also you don't have to worry about kinking your line when pulling them out.

What's The Down Side Of A Rod That's Too Heavy Action?
The *** 7'3 H has a 3/8oz minimum lure weight. Throwing something lighter won't load the rod properly and could hurt casting distance. Buy the rod to suite your needs.
