How To Make Your Own Rage Rig!
The fun comes from fishing, not from making a simple task much more complicated and time consuming.

Boss Swimjig Heads
I've also used the pointier style heads for my swim jigs but I found these to come through wood fairly well. Granted I have all of one trips worth of experience with them but they worked fine. I still prefer the Dirty Jigs swim jig just because of the hook, both heads use Mustad hooks but the DJ's has the bigger 5/0 hook which I personally like better. I can say though that I'll definitely be ordering more of the BOSS heads in the bluegill color. I'll be using these throughout the summer and fall so I'll report back if they don't perform to the level that I think they will in grass. I didn't fish any grass yesterday with them so I'm still not sure how they'll do but they did come through the laydowns I fished them in well. I think you'll be satisfied with these heads if you were to give them a shot.

New Rage Tail Baits
I just received 2 packs of DB Craws this week, I'm going out tomorrow and I'm really excited about trying them. I think I'm going to use them as a jig trailer tomorrow but I know sooner rather than later I'll use them as a flip/punch bait. I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up liking these more than the Rage Craw.

Boss Swimjig Heads
Just wondering if any of you guys have tried these swimjig heads yet? I just received a pack in my latest TW order that came earlier this week. My local lakes are full of shad so those type patterns usually work great starting around this time of year. I tied two of them to try tomorrow when I go. These are the 3/8 oz size, I went back and forth on which size to order between these and the 1/4 oz. I'm glad I went 3/8 because these seem to be a little on the light side to me so the 1/4 would have more than likely been too light. As I said I'll have my first opportunity to fish them tomorrow but so far I've been fairly impressed with their quality. Pretty good paint, nice head shape (although a couple of mine are a little misshapen), and the Mustad hook seems adequate. I'd prefer the no jack Gammy in all my jigs though if I could get it. Anyway fella's just let me know your experiences with these heads if you have any. Thanks

Powell Max 683C
I have the Max 683 spinning rod and I like it a lot for t-rigs, finesse jigs, shakeyheads, Senko's, and many more. It's a very nice spinning rod so I'm sure the casting version is equally good for t-rigs.

Whats Your Favorite Rod And Reel?
My favorites change frequently so in a week this answer may be totally different but as of right now... Casting: Shimano Chronarch 101B Powell Max 735 frog rod Spinning: Shimano Stella 3000FD Shimano Cumara 7'2" MH I actually don't have my favorite casting reel and rod paired together. 101B is on a Shimano Clarus 7' MH and the 735 has a Citica 201E (which is a very nice reel in it's own right, especially after all the mods) on it. The spinning rod and reel however are a combo. The 101B has all the internal upgrades, carbontex drag, OS 7 spool bearings, ceramic line guide pawl, and lastly all of the appropriate parts and spots have been polished, that you normally hear guys making. Most complain about this reel's weight but it doesn't bother me in the least, in fact I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons I like it so much. Well not so much the weight but what the weight means, solid aluminum construction throughout which translates into better overall operation. It just feels like a tank. Love these reels.

Whats Your Most Successful Way To Rig Creature Baits?
I only fish them two ways, first is a t-rig and second as a jig trailer. My Texas Rig fishing isn't all that complicated but I also don't have a set standard that I always start with. I use weights (always tungsten) from 1/8 oz all the way to 2 oz. Pitching a creature bait around the bank I usually go with a lighter weight, say 1/8 to 5/16, with a 1/4 oz my most common. This applies to baits like the baby brush hog, baby paca craws, and rage craws. Anytime I'm using a beaver style bait in these same area's I always go straight to the 5/16 oz. For some reason I always seem to get the most bites on beavers using this weight size. I've of course experimented with lots of different weights but have settled on this one. I've proven it to myself many times while fishing with buddies, I can be on their boats fishing behind them with us both fishing the exact same baits on the same line the only difference will be that I'm using the 5/16 and they aren't, they'll either be lighter or heavier, and I'll get more bites than them almost every time. My flipping grass slash punching t-rigs never go below 3/4 oz (always pegged obviously) and up to 2 oz in extreme cases. My most common weight here is the 3/4, I've found with a small plastic such as the Zoom Speed Craw it is all that's needed 95% of the time provided that I take my time and make very accurate pitches. I only use one hook for flipping/punching and that's the Owner Twistlock flipping hooks. I use different hooks on different plastics when I'm just fishing a regular t-rig. Anything from straight shanks to EWG's to offset round bends.

Berkley Powerbait Rib Snake
I too tried these last year, didn't catch anything or for that matter get a bite. I tried them because an older gentlemen I trust said he had been knocking their lights out flipping them in heavy grass. So that's the only presentation I tried with them, I do however plan to try them more this year. First thing I'll probably try is a shakeyhead, if they don't turn out to be good for that I'll definitely try them flipping again. I like the idea behind these worms so I'm sure all I have to figure out is how best to present them to the fish in my lakes. Hopefully it won't take me to long.

Frog Fishing?
I'm the exact same way about frogs. They are my absolute, without a doubt, favorite way to fish. I'm positive that I frequently fish them when I shouldn't, by this I mean when there are obvious better ways to catch fish on a particular day. I'm to the point of almost being like the guys that only fish swimbaits, I'm that crazy about frog fishing. It's the best. My two favorite brands are Spro and River 2 Sea, in that order.

Best Flipping Line ( Braid Or Flouro Or Leader)
I do 99% of my flipping with straight braid. 50 or 65# PP, S8S (Timber Brown), or P-Line Spectrex IV. If I find it necessary to use fluoro I prefer to go straight fluoro as well because it's just easier to me to deal with it's handling "flaws" than it is to retie a leader several times a day. I retie often even with braid so I go through quite a bit of fluoro each trip.

Biffle Buggin' Larger Plastics
Nice, but pouring your own is cheating. I'm just joking of course. I'm sure you haven't run into much trouble using a hook as big as a 7/0. I know guys are trying all kinds of plastics on these type heads and I'm sure there are several that work super but so far the Smokin' Rooster has been one of my best. I also know this forum is very high on Rage products so that's the only reason I even bothered posting. Just in case some other guys wanted to try it I just wanted to warn them that you need a bigger hook than what usually come with them.

Good looking outfit man, I think you'll really enjoy it for many years. I'm planning to pick up a new Curado I just as soon as they're available. Edit: By "they're" I of course mean the lefties.

What's The Best Big Box Store Jig And Trailer?
My choice would be the Strike King Hack Attack in 3/8 oz. These jigs aren't to big to be fished in just about any situation IMO. I'd get some in a green pumpkin type color and black and blue. As for trailers I'd go with either Rage Craws in matching colors or the Menace grub.

Biffle Buggin' Larger Plastics
I'm sure you guys have already made similar "modifications" to your buggin' tackle but I thought I'd share this little idea anyway. Most of the swinging jigheads come standard with the hook attached directly to the head which is fine for most of the medium sized craws and other plastics. Where I started having trouble was with larger plastics, specifically the Smokin' Rooster. Not that this bait is unusually thick, it isn't, but for some reason the stock hook just wasn't getting the job done with this plastic. So I decided to try and "fix" my problem, this is the end result. I tried a few different hooks before deciding to try these. I tried a regular 3X Twist Lock 5/0, a Zo Wire Twist Lock flipping hook 4/0, and this Beast 4/0. All three worked just fine but I liked the way my larger plastics looked while rigged on the Beast. They are nice and straight with plenty of gap for the bait to collapse into. The head is the Dirty Jigs version, I can't remember it's exact name at the moment, 3/4 oz with a number 3 Owner Hyper Wire split ring and the aforementioned Beast 4/0. Hook up percentage is fantastic now. I'm trying to show the difference between the stock Gammy hook and my replacement.

Going To Buy A Set Of Spro Little Johns, What Are The Must Have Colors?
As the other guys said, Cell Mate. It does have a chartreuse hue, some baits are a little more "chartreusey" than others. Most of the time they are pretty close though. I have quite a few Spro cranks myself and I think Cell Mate is my favorite color of theirs. Although Nasty Shad is good as well and I've just recently started trying the Chrome Olive color.

Falcon Rods
While I don't have any experience with the rod you're asking about I do however own a Falcon Expert 7'6" flipping stick. Falcon discontinued this line of rods for some reason but nevertheless the one I have fishes great. It's light, has very good sensitivity, and the action of this particular flipping stick is one I've not been able to find in any others I've tried. The action fits perfectly with the small amount of stretch in fluoro making for a really nice flipping rod and a very enjoyable experience, IMHO of course. If you like Falcon rods then by all means don't worry about picking this one up. Falcon makes a very nice stick, I'm not sure why they aren't mentioned more.

Soft Plastic Frog Help
I only fish two "Toad" style lures, first and my favorite is the Gambler Cane Toad and second is the Rage Toad. I fish them on the same set up I use for my hollow body frogs which is a Powell Max 735, tuned Citica E, spooled with 50 or 65# braid. The only hook I use is the Owner Twist Lock.

To me this one is a no brainer, Curado I all day.

Gen 2 Cumara Review
I'm in agreement with you fella's, the Cumara A rods are super sensitive. I'd put them at or very close to GLX level. I only have one, that being the umbrells rig rod, but I kept telling myself I was going to buy more I just never have. I'm interested in the new Expride rods from Shimano at the moment, or the new Loomis IMX. The handle definitely takes a little getting used to but once you do you won't even notice it anymore. I've had days where it was the only rod I picked up all day and I've never had any problems. I figured if I was going to have trouble using them this would be the technique to let me know if they got uncomfortable or not. Whole days worth of A-Riggin' and nothing to complain about yet. I wish they were a different color but that's a personal preference deal. They are quite nice looking in the sun though. I also know what you mean by thin blanks, I was very skeptical that this rod was going to be able to consistently take throwing average A-Rig weights but it doesn't even break a sweat. Really good rods.
