  1. This. I set it where I don't have to use a lot of effort. Just able to pull with any strain.
  2. KVD line conditioner works well on floro for me.
  3. I haven't tested one out myself so no experience. They do look ok and I've seen a lot of reviews. If the price is right I'd give them a chance like everyone else.
  4. I would disagree, Ish took it further than he should've.
  5. Don't get it, there are much better rods out there for the price. If you want to hold off, there is a new G Loomis line coming in Feb. It's suppose to be under the 200 dollar price point and supposedly they did it right this time. We shall see.
  6. Yes it is worth it if you can afford it without breaking the bank. I love my GLXs.
  7. Use a leader, however there is no requirement that you have to.
  8. Everything really. In general I use them for anything that requires me to pick up line quickly.
  9. Welcome back to the boards fellow bass brother. And here's to a swift and smooth recovery to your wife.
  10. Starts next week in store (February 6th, 2015), Spring Fishing Classic sale. Go here.
  11. I'll let the experts tell you if it makes a difference, but imo I don't think it would. As long as you filled the spool to the right level, I don't think it matters much. For jigs and plastics, I'd put 50% backing on it. If it was cranking I'd want 80 yards at the minimum of floro.
  12. I sure hope so! To me the Curados feel more refined and more comfortable to fish with. However, it's not like the BPS PQ doesn't perform the task right either. I like using them both!
  13. I'd go for the BPS PQ, I have two of them. They are regularly used in my rotation. I've used it on my Veritas MH/F 7'3" as a frog rod before and it worked just fine. It's a very good reel at it's regular price, even better at half the price. I've never took the leap up to either of the Carbonlite reels, so I can't comment on those. I do hear the JM Sig series is a very good reel. I plan to get 1 at the classic, possibly 2. We will see, depending how my budget flies by with the other restocking I'm doing.
  14. Sorry I couldn't get to go. My travel plans changed for work and I wasn't in the area.
  15. PP Original. No need for the fancy/shmancy super slick.
  16. Interesting, I just took a look at the flyer for Ontario, Canada and we don't have that in our flyer. That reel looks pretty neat.
  17. Shimano started participating awhile ago.
  18. I even think Roadwarrior uses that same rod for jerkbaits, his favorite too.
  19. I owned a few St. Croix rods before I moved over to Fenwick and Shimano/G Loomis. The only one left is that exact Avid rod. I can't answer your question why such a big difference between the two, BUT! That Avid is the best jerkbait rod I've ever owned period. Get it!
  20. I've had my Chonarch CI4+ since release. Bought it on sale with no tax sale too. It is smooth and it is a favorite reel of mine, I love using it as my texas rig/jig reel. It is really smoooooth. Only issue for me is that I haven't seen it for that price here in Canada/Ontario again. Retail here is about 50-60 bucks more than the US. If I'm paying that much money I'd rather try my first Core (used) or a Calais (used). Just can't justify right now at full price. Not that it isn't worth it, but I try to avoid paying full price. At full price or near (tax on retail) I can find those two reels cheaper (core) or the same (Calais). I haven't spent 300 bucks on a reel yet.
  21. I never owned one, but they do look nice.
  22. I hear G Loomis is introducing a new sub 200 rod if you want to stick in that range. It is called the E6X, looks like it will be replacing the GL2s price point. The rumor is they are better and they are advertising the best sub 200 rod. Of course this is all market and speculation. They are going to be available February 20th, 2015. Here is the ad.
  23. The butt does look like a microphone or something like that. It doesn't matter, the rods look pretty slick imo. Looking forward to a review.
