Quantum Reels
I owned one Quantum reel, I sold it last year. It was the older Quantum Energy reel. It was a solid work horse reel and used it for 2 years. The only thing I didn't like was that it wasn't easy to palm for me. Other than that, smooooth reel.

Bass Pro Spring Fishing Classic Sales Add Link
Bring an old or unused reel to BPS, they give you a coupon. Their is a pricing tier on the flyer. For the reel you're looking for you'd get 15 dollars off the sale price of the carbonlite reel. So it would 84.99

The reel trade in works for all brands, not just BPS.

Question About Spooling 2 Reels
This! You can add backing to both reels and spool 100 yard on each and still have enough to spool another reel.

Calling All Who Are Good At Deciphering Topo Maps!
Not sure if anyone else brought this up, but I also looked on Google Maps of the lake. In the very north end of the map, there is also like a 90 degree corner there, which isn't shown on the topo map. At least from what I can see. Anyway, this looks like it was created by man and gives it a distinct structure. From the looks of it looks like it drops quickly to the 7ft mark. From matching up the best I can with the topo.

1000 Size Spinning Reel, Braid Only??????????
x3..I have 1000 Stradic FJ with 10lb PP braid. Don't recall having problems ever.

New Carbonlite Rods
I can see the concern, but technology has moved forward and I can't see why you should be too concerned. Plus I hear BPS stands behind their products as seen in many reviews/posts. I'll probably take the plunge on the new one, especially if what you are saying is true (lightness). However, if the old Carbonlite has a really good clearance price...I'd buy those instead.

Bummer
Sorry to hear that man, but at least this didn't happen in the middle of the season. Here's to a speedy recovery, who knows you might heal faster than you think!

Best Mono For Bottom Contact
What he said, I wholeheartedly agree. InvizX is one of the better, but he's right you may have to adjust the reel properly.

New Carbonlite Rods
I might be able to swing by on Wednesday. I'll test them out but in store testing can only go so far. I'll let you know if they feel lighter or not.

For Those Who Use Backing...
#3 for me and depending on the line size too. I will respool when I get under 40 yards, this is dependent too on what lb test the line is and what I use it for. IE if I'm flipping and pitching then I can get away with waiting a little longer. If I'm launching crankbaits then I'd respool earlier.

For Those Who Use Backing...
I usually check the line to see if there is any issue with it and make a decision. If it's ok then I see if there is enough line on the spool, would be my 2nd determining factor.

Winter Sucks
Hootie is great, he's one of my. I think he'd be a "Hoot" to fish with for a day.

Winter Sucks
As always - 1. I'm currently researching, watching, reading (books, magazines and forums). 2. Right now I'm seriously researching on how to build my own rods. The few customs I've seen has given me motivation. I'll probably get my equipment and first kit for my birthday this year. I want to continue investigate all the intricacies and what I can do. 3. Lots of browsing at BPS, ***, local tackle shops..etc. 4. Tinkering with my tackle and inventory. 5. Cleaning my reels and rods. 6. Testing different pairs. 7. Updating my reels lines and inventorying the line amount on my excel sheet.
