If you mean PQ Combos (PQ Tournament Rods), stay away from the rod. If you saying PQ Combo with Carbonlite, I would say go for it. I don't own one myself but people here mostly have good to great things to say about them. As for the two setups - there are two ways you could do this. One is what a previous poster said, that Lightning stick MH could double as your frog rod. 2nd option, my recommendation for a "jig rod" would depend how heavy you'd go. In general I would probably get a MH/F Carbonlite (7') with a PQ. would be my preference. For your frog rod I would I would go 7' too heavy fast, same combo. The length if your preference, but I prefer 7' rods especially for jigs and frogs.

If you are mostly pitching into cover with flouro leader, I'd go with Seaguar Abrazx, but Red Label is fine for leader. As for the person who said Vanish, no offense but NO DON'T go that "ROUTE" , unless you like your fish "vanish".

Wow super deal, but conscious would've butted in and told my boss first how much the combo would've retailed. Guess I'm just too honest. Not saying what you did was wrong, just saying if it were me.

I'll agree with that too, I have had also smallmouth come from deep water too for a top water (15-20+). However, a largemouth can be just as aggressive once in awhile. To date the biggest hit on a top water has been a largemouth for me. This probably 2-3 lber tried to nail my hollow body frog, he over shot it and was flying in the air a good few feet. It was comical.

In my experience, it depends on the lures. Here is a list of my experiences for topwater 1. Buzzbaits - Overwhelmingly Largemouth 2. Hollow body/Plastic Frogs - Overwhelmingly Largemouth 3. Poppers - About 50/50 4. Jitterbugs - Smallies tend to favor, but not by a lot So if you added all that up, in general Largies seem to be the winner for me.

x2 I have the Worm and Jig one...wherever you are looking may not have it that one in stock? It was my go to jig and worm rod until I bought my Cumaras/GLXs/Cumulus. It is now my backup rod or spinnerbait rod, nothing wrong with it just like the higher end ones when it comes to jigs and worms.

HAH yeah, last season I lost a few SBs because of those toothy monsters. Still my go to search bait for bass. Then again, Pike will attack anything.

Depends for me, if I am running low on the said bait or lure I'll go grab a couple more. I don't go crazy or anything.

I love Spinnerbaits, they are my favorite search bait. The criteria for me for spinnerbaits are the following: 1. White/Cht - Hands down for some reason I have the most success with this color combo, no matter clear or dirty water. 2. Double Willow How I fish them? 1. Steady retrieve 2. Varying retrieve 3. Slow roll them.... 4. Stop and go 5. Steady retrieve and pop them once in awhile 6. BURN them so they stay close to the top of the water. Really there is no wrong way.

1. White/Cht - Double Willow 2. White - Double Willow 3. Cht - Double Willow Then again the same colors but Willow/Colorado.

I don't think there is such a thing. You always need that one extra lure or rod and reel to get the big one.

I never even seen a Powell rod, wish I could test them out where I am. It's hard to find a local shop where I live to even handle a Dobyns rod. Like you though, I treated myself last year by getting "high end" bottom contact rods and boy am I happy. The difference is quite noticeable!

It sucks, I mean seriously I don't understand. They just downgraded the Curado yet again. I'm done with Shimano, this was the last straw. I'm switching to xxxxx brand. OUT! Seriously though, it looks like a keeper but I haven't gotten to handle one yet so I can't say how it's going to be.
