  2. Yeah I was going to say, lucky guy can fish in February. The Compre is a good rod, enjoy!
  3. There is a post from Valley Sport who was taking pre orders, why not just order from there then?
  4. When the Chronarch CI4+ came out they were sold out within minutes. I got lucky on day one only because I was at my local shop taking advantage of the no tax and 30% off rods sale. (Picked up a Cumulus that I was eying for a long time) The guy at the shop asked me, did you see the new Chronarch, I was like what? I thought it would be gone by now. He said well yeah they are, but we kept two for models. I was like what? Asked the manager if I can purchase it, got it with no tax. I was very happy! Anyway, they had 5 on hand, 2 of them they saved for putting up on the shelf for display. That was day one at a local shop. They were flying off the shelf for at least a couple months. In the end though, does it matter if you get it day 1 or 2-3 months from now?
  5. UV is what damages kayaks from what I read, so just protect it from direct sunlight.
  6. I'll agree with the others if you aren't using it for bottom contact techniques. That is if you want to stay with the Savvy. Otherwise I'd still standby my recommendation for the Aetos.
  7. Well dealing with Muskies will just have to be dealt with and expect to lose lures. I live in pike infested waters, I learn to just deal with it. 20 or 30 lb braid imo isn't going to make a difference, without a steel leader of some sort expect to say goodbye to your lures. Problem solved, I would be more concerned about your rod being able to handle a 20lb musky. If it were me, I'd probably go lower with your setup..I would use 15 lb braid with 6-10 lb floro leader.
  8. Well sensitivity is different in everyone's hands, so it might be dead to me (I've only tested in store)...it might be fine in your hands. I can't comment on a Duckett or Powell Max, what I will say is this. When I was dead set on trying a Dobyns (to see all the fuss), for some reason the models they had in the store didn't give me the "IT" factor. I was looking for a heavy powered rod and looked at these rods - Champion, Savvy, Crucial, Cumara (Previous Version) and Fenwick Aetos. What I came out with was my first Aetos. I do not regret that decision at all, it has the power/action that i expect and I was pleasantly surprised how sensitive/performed, it performed it was like a 200-300 dollar rod easily. What else helped me buy it was the price tag (normally 150-160, I bought it for 130).
  9. I use a 7' for up to 15' and for deeper water I will go 7'6. I would suggest if you're going to use it for deep water and going to have 1 rod, go for the 7'6. The reason, longer rods for deeper water for better/easier hooksets. But it isn't "NECESSARY" it is nice to have.
  10. Looks like a great start to me.
  11. I 3rd Goose and Teal get the Calais! I'd be ALL OVER THAT DEAL. I also agree you should go for the 853 for what you are doing.
  12. I still think you should take the advice and get either Academy reel or BPS reel. BPS PQ is an awesome reel and definitely at retail the best bang for your buck, but at 80 on sale it is a steal. I personally would never go below a PQ level. As for Orra SX I have no experience.
  13. If you like Fenwick why would you change? Take a look at the Aetos (Fenwick), I have the M/F it is my go to deep water DS rod. My dedicated DS rod is a Crucial ML/XF, which is the best DS rod I have ever used, mind you I haven't tried a Loomis or higher end for a DS rod. No reason to when these two do an awesome job already.
  14. I never heard of that model, but I'm assuming you checked on google? Anyway, I would just try it out to see what it would be good for and then go from there.
  15. Really how can I not take offense? That was pretty blunt, but since you're a kid I'll take it easy. If you look and search you will see I'm not alone. Plus you don't even "know me" to state your statement.
  16. I use most of the time Zoom Super Flukes, I do have other brands (Bruiser and Caffeine Shad)..but in general I use them all the same way. I did buy some BPS version and find that it works best dead sticking and drop shot, not used at all as a jerkbait.
  17. Been buying Shimano since I was a teenager ahem won't say how long that is..lol I guess you're getting all the wrong ones while I get all the good ones...
  18. I guess that is fully possible, but I remember hearing the Shimano rep saying the Core and Chronarch E weren't going anywhere for awhile. Unless awhile is less than 6 months.
  19. For the OP for 140 that was way too high imo for the Citica G. If you can take it back and get your money back and get a better deal. Not that I'm knocking the Citica G, I own 3 of them myself, I would never pay retail for it when you can get better reels at that price point. Definitely wait for the Curado G to go down in price. IMO if the rumor here is true I'd wait for the Chronarch E to go down in price, which would be a much better buy.
  20. Curious why the Chronarch E is going ot be 99 or even lowered? They phasing out the E because of the Curado I?
  21. I don't have experience with a Carbonlite myself, but I'm sure it can handle both those just fine. I don't normally fish much football head jigs (the places I fish aren't ideal for them), but on the occassions I do, I use my 854 GLX...1/2 oz to 3/4 oz, if I go heavier/deeper I will use my Heavy/XF Aetos 7'6". My best advice I can give you is, take a look at the Carbonlite and check the weight range it can handle and think about how heavy you are going to use most of the time and make the decision for MH or H. Maybe someone who owns one can chime in for you? As for my swim jig rod, I don't normally go heavier than 1/2 oz, I will use MH/F rods with no issues. I'm not advocating in my post that you should go buy 3 different rods, just telling you what I use. Overall a MH/F rod would be ideal for any jigs period.
  22. Really want to hear what you think about them after you fish them. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  23. Yeah he helped make my first venture into it. He knows his Fenwick rods!
