Rotten Egg Smell - Batteries
I fished last weekend with no problems. I've had them hooked up to the charger since. I went in the garage today and smelled a strong rotten egg odor. I unplugged the charger and pulled out the batteries. The water level was low so I added some distilled water to both batteries. Are these batteries toast or is it possible they are ok to use? Thanks

Jerkbaits....no confidence in them at all.

New York And Kentucky Fishing
From Bowling Green, I would hit Barren. IMO, it's the 3rd best lake in the state for Bass (behind KY/Barkley).

Been Fishing Yet?
Got out this past Sunday for the first time. Had heavy stained water in the upper 30s...skunked. Only fished a few hours.. sprained my ankle in the boat. Rough opening day, hopefully it gets better, lol.

1/2 Oz Jigs To Large To Fish With?
I'd say 3/8 is my norm. 1/2 for deeper. I rarely go less than 3/8.

Lefty Or Righty
Right handed, switched to left handed retrieve about 10 years ago. Wish I'd done it 20 years ago.

Accidental Catches
We were fishing Dale Hollow about 2 years ago and I set the hook on what I thought was a huge Smallie. I'd get it close, it would make a run..several times. My buddy had the net and when it finally came up it was a big stinky soft shell turtle.

While Fishing What Unusual Or Rare Animal Have You Seen ?
I was fishing with a guide on KY lake a few years back and we saw a Cougar. Actually the guide saw it first, I only got a glimpse before it ran back up into the woods.

Old Fish Spit Baits Quicker???
Maybe, if we assume an older bass has been caught more it seems reasonable that it's a possibility that they reject a lure quicker through the experience of having a jig blow through the roof of their mouth.

Jig Fishing Questions
I prefer the Green one. I have better luck on the baby paca craw than I do the chunk. 2 lbers will smoke that thing. So will pigs.

Flipping Lures
Jig with 4 inch Senko trailer.

Lipless Cranks In Deeper Water
Thanks, unfortunately we don't have a lot of grass on these lakes. I do have one lake that's restricted to trolling motors, it has some grass in the summer. I'll try it there on the deep edges.

Lipless Cranks In Deeper Water
What is your best presentation when fishing lipless cranks on deeper structure? Or maybe I should ask, do you throw it on deep structure? I'm guilty of only throwing it up on the flats, but think I'm missing out.

Depth And Speed
Interesting, didn't know that. I thought he only trolled.

Idea For Carolina Rig May Or May Not Work
If you are using braid and a leader, I'd stick with the swivel. I use a 40-50 lb braid and a much lighter copolymer leader so if it hangs, you can break off and save your beads and weight. Now I do use a lighter finesse version, but that's with a Carolina keeper and no leader.

Depth And Speed
I understand depth, I get that. I just don't understand how technique, action, and to a lesser extent color are not as equally important as speed. I guess I need pay more attention to my speed and less to lure choice.

Depth And Speed
From the Buck Perry website... "If you or I expect to catch more and bigger fish consistently whenever and wherever we go fishing, we must control the depth and speed of our lures (together - at the same time) on, and/or around, the bottom features (structure, breaks, breaklines, deep water) the fish use in their movements and migrations." You will note the guideline made no mention about changing or bad weather conditions, "moods" of the fish, size, color, action, oxygen, pH, odor, casting ability, traffic, rigs, "method," "technique," or "patterns." These things are handled by the control of depth and speed of our lures. Depth control means where the fish will be. Speed control (how fast the lure moves through the water) is what makes the fish take the lure. Now, my question. How many of you focus only on these two controls, while ignoring color, action, seasonal patterns, etc? Thanks...
