  1. If you are going to be up in Aquia better get your rattle trap ready. Beat up the gravely banks with the Rat L Trap, studs come out of there every year around this time, should be a lot of fun! The senko works year around in Aquia as well (try black/blue or watermelon red flake). TIght lines! Jay-
  2. Try throwing a natural color I would try a pb&j, pumpkin seed, or green watermelon. Make sure to make long cast. Jigs are one of the best baits to use. They can resemble a bunch of different things and if fish properly can fool fish time and time again. The thumping on the bottom should not spook the fish it should do the opposite and call them in like a dinner bell. Jay-
  3. Clear water usually calls for natural colors. What will be just as important as the bait is your gear. Sometimes in clear water bass get a little spooky, so long cast w/ good line can be beneficial. I would try swim baits, wacky rigged sinkos with a split shot, heavy jigs, drop shots, flukes, and tubes just to name a few. Jay-
  4. I love catching northern snakeheads the challenge is awesome! I love being able to see them and watching how they churn the water when they strike. I swear I hooked a 20+ lbs on the river, but didn't land it. They are hard to guess the weight on unless you have weighed dozens as I have. Quote me the world record will be caught on the Potomac River! Jay-
  5. Last year on the first event I finished 90th place. Its a shame because it was all down hill from there. Jay-
  6. Lord knows I use to be able to do all that stuff when I was at 6% body fat. After marriage and 2.5 kids I am more like 6% muscle:( . I tear up thinking about it. Jay-
  7. Did I mention northern snakehead! You will truely be amazed on how good it really is. No gamey taste what so ever. And easy to fillet it! Jay-
  8. I love it been doing it for 3 years now it's a blast. Not to mention its free to play and you can win real prizes.. Jay-
  9. You can use them in deeper water 20+ depths. Jay
  10. I throw nothing away ever. I keep every bait and play around with the parts switching pieces or robbing parts. I always need a bill or different split ring. Soft plastic can be remelted, eyes reused, I have even taken the rattles out of crank baits and switched them. Beggers can't be choosers, got to work with what I have. I will take anyone's old used baits pm me! Jay-
  11. Most amazing freshwater fish are northern snakeheads number one. The Potomac River is full of them. Flaky white meat yum yum. Jay-
  12. Thanks for posting this. Now I know why they dont like my black and blue jigs. Jay-
  13. :cry3:When I was about 15yo me and 2 buddies thought it would be a great idea to go fishing in a 12 foot jon. We were all sitting down and me being the youngest I had the best seat (eyes rolling) the middle bench. Did not take long and I realized I had very limited casting opportunities so I got the bright idea to stand up and fish. I wasn't standing more than 5 minutes when I felt something pull on my arm. At the same time my buddy goes oh ship. I look down and I have a treble hook in my bicep close to my elbow. I go to pull it out with my hand and it doesn't come out. By this point I am all amped up and grab a pair of pliers. I start pulling with all my might as the other two guys (if that’s what you want to call them) are about to throw-up. It was not even bloody but my skin did look funny as it stretched. With a grunt and a final pull it popped. Everyone was ready to go I looked at my battle wound and realized there was a funny piece of flesh sticking out. I pulled on it and sure enough I pulled out a tiny blood vessel. It was kind of sick cause when I let it go it slowly went back in my arm. Thought I should get it checked out by a doctor so I did. They tied it with what look like fishing line (ironic) around it to close it up and pushed it back in, then put a Band-Aid on it. Too this day those friends get all upset when I bring it up in conversation. GOOD TIMES Jay-
  14. IMO dont peg the hook, and give your line a lot of slack on the fall. The weight will dart to the bottom and your tube will flutter behind it ever so slow. Its a killer around cover, give it a try you wont be dissappointed but remember to watch your line on the fall 75% of the time they will hit it on the fall. Jay-
  15. I dont know if its true or not, but I do know what off the wall stuff like that can be effective. In the winter/spring I throw a floating jerk bait on the back of a c-rig, the hooks catch the line way less than you would think. I work it slow and give it a bunch of slack so it can rise. Its amazing. Next time your out fishing just give it ten minutes of your time. You may be suprised. Jay-
  16. That sure does look like a HawgTech handle doesn't it. Those HawgTech handles work good for people with bad wrist it takes stress off the joints. Jay
  17. Psshh, NIcK PLEasE.... The hook is the first thing coming out of that bass's mouth. The ring on the weight is so tiny it will never in a million years get in the way. I would be more worried about the sinker on a T-Rig smacking the bass's lip causing it to spit the bait before the hook (which doesn't noticeable happen). Same concept as the Okeechobee rig!
  18. Or maybe a umbrella rig with five sinkos over the edge....Awesome great tip thanks! Jay-
  19. Geez! Are you serious? Those are nice fish, and I am amazed they would eat such a tiny bait. I am going out with only one rod next weekend rigged only with a drop shot rig. Not coming home till I catch some keepers on it. Thanks J Francho Jay
  20. Thanks ARV I am not sure it's the 4" part I think it's more the skinniness of the bait. If you are telling me it will catch keeper fish and that you have done it I will have to give them a honest attempt. Thanks again. Jay-
  21. Okay so then bass are very intelligent. How can I condition them to jump into my boat. Jay-
  22. So I got my Roboworm 4" FX Sculpin today and I am a little skeptical. How can I use something so little to catch fish? Will a BASS bigger than 10 inches really eat this thing? Can bass even find such a little bait? It looks like a bait for crappie or blue gill. Someone give me some good news or positive insight! Jay!
  23. Welcome to the best site on the web! Jay-
  24. Hello and welcome to the bass fishing Facebook! Tight lines and smooth drags. Jay
