What Is Wrong With My Reel?
its probably a cheep reel and is at the end of its life span. cheep line really does suck, especially on spinning gear. id say ask for a new reel for christmas. but for now, tak off all your line on it, remove the spool, clean all inside there, drop some light oil down the shaft, put the spool back on. next remove the handle, put some light oil on the bearing inside there. then go pick up a $8 spool of berkely 8lb Big game line from walmart. it is cheep and works ok. if you have more money, you can get a higher quality fluorocarbon, which is what i REALLY recommend, its up to you.

2Nd Bait Casting Rod
8lb yo-zuri has like a 14 or 15lb breaking strength, and is a lot more managable becuase of its size. or use braided line with a leader when needed
-
2Nd Bait Casting Rod
if i were you, i would use you 6' spinning rod, put on some 8lb line, either Fluoro or a hybrid like yo-zuri, and use that for drop shot and jerkbaits and small-med cranks. then get a 7'-7'3: MH or H rod for carolina rig, and flipping thick cover, you can frog with it as well

If You Bought???
this 100x i couldn't have said it better myself.
-
Casting Distance With A Carolina Rig
it all depends on your rod. i was using a 7'4 H dobyns champ extreme, and i couldnt get a c-rig to cast very far, the rod just didnt have enough tip, i switched my c-rig to a Mh with a little more tip, and it noticeably casted further
-
Frog Rod/reel Setup
i perfer a 7'3 or 7'4 MH or H rod (power depends on brand) with a fast tip. and a real with a high speed. 7.0:1 or higher.

Dobyns 703 12lb yo-zuri, t-rigs, spinnerbaits, senkos 4. 7'6 H 50lb braid, punch rig and koppers frog. 5. Dobyns 704cb 10lb yo-zuri, all cranks and topwater that will get me through the season

Night Lm Bass Fishing Worth It?
i might be to late, but throw a frog, black blue jig, or black spinnerbait. my buddy caught his PB of 9.12lb on a koppers frog at 11:30 at night

Need Help With New Tube / Soft Plastics Rod
if your looking to spend about the same price as a savvy, i would get a shimano crucial. there pretty dang sensitive and light weight. balance is ok, a tad bit tip heavy but not bad. but thats about the best rod you can get for $160
- Which Rod
-
New Plastics/jig Rod
i have 13 *** 7'3 MH, excellent for what you want. its a better rod than the dobyns champion, more comparable to the champion extreme
-
Spare Spool, Spinning Reel Rant
almost every abu garcia reel does
-
The Desire To Be Brand Specific...
never used a duckett, the *** is pretty much the same as dobyns as far as sensitivty and weight and balance. very similar to dobyns champ 744

3 Days Of Tips, 3 New Rigs.
ya ill defently have to try them again, i only threw them once on a day where i couldnt get anything on anything, there buried at the bottom of my tackle box now, but ill bust them out and give them a shot this weekend

Spinnerbait Rod
depends where you'll be fishing, but anywhere from a 6'8 to a 7'3 rod is good, a MH Fast tip will work well. 15lb fluorocarbon is good overall line. some good rods around $100 St.Croix Mojo, Abu Garcia Veritas, *** ***, $50 Berkley lightning shock rod in 7' MH will be an excellent spinnerbait rod. then you'll have some $$ leftover for a reel

3 Days Of Tips, 3 New Rigs.

The Desire To Be Brand Specific...
I do but its very hard. i have a 13 ***, 3 Dobyns Champion Extreme, 2 Omens, a Shimano Crucial, and a Okuma Helios but i also want to try the new Powell TiMax its hard to be brand specific when all the rods are good! If i had the money to go brand specific, i would in a heartbeat. Reels I'm brand specific to, i love me some Lews
-
Medium Crankbait Reel
mostly depends on depth and bill size. if they only go to about 14-15 feet, i use a 6.4:1 any deeper i use a 5.4:1
-
